I laughed so haaaard when I saw this. It's truly ridiculous (to me) to say what Shepard will say when I can just click it. Also, you can just say it, and then click it. There, I just saved you 100 moolah. Furthermore, we shouldn't need kinect for it when a headset would work just the same for conversations and combat commands.

It seems as BW has finally sold it's soul.... or aren't thinking outside the box. I go with the former (what?).

Don't own Kinect never will, so won't use this seems to me it would take you out of the story to much.

Voice commands would be cool if Shepard wasn't already voiced. The entire point of voice commands IMO is to enhance the RP experience, but it ain't gonna happen if Shep then says something rather different and in different voice than player just did. Back in the day most player characters in RPGs weren't voiced, you voiced them in your head. Using voice commands could bring that to the next level, you would literally voice your own character, but not if Shepard (or any other character) already has a voice. My opinon ;P

Yes, I will. I think it's a cute idea and if it's there, why the hell not?

I think it looks awesome, actually. I'd be afraid to try it, my voice isn't usually good with these things and it might mess things up a lot, but I'm still tempted.

I don't see the point.... But better to have it and not need it...right?

It's not going to work. It will be like a toy you buy, and be bored with it the next day. It's exhausting to say everything for the duration of a 30h. game. And the combat commands will probably end up as buggy as Rainbow Six.

And the combat commands will probably just make the squad go to places that will get them shot. It's much more efficient to indicate the position.

Well... If we were to take Chris Priestly's endless "Oh, so you want us to include X? OK, but development time and disc space are limited, so we'll have to cut a lot of content. Are you sure you still want it? No, OK then, go and make no more stupid suggestions." seriously, then including it is a horrible idea.

kinect is a useless technology that will not enhance the experience of mass effect 3 or videogames in general. saying the words on the screen is completely redundant as shepard says something completely different and shepard already has a voice. kinect is a worthless gimmick and nothing more.

My question is: is why just use Kinect as a glorified microphone/headset and not use a standard mircophone/headset?

Here's a thought: Don't like a feature? Don't use that feature.

I understand some features are not for everyone (some people will or will not use Kinect, some will or will not choose a romance, some will or will not play different classes, etc). However, I do not understand the seeming NEED for some people to belittle or ridicule the feature that they currently do not have interest in.

Does it make people feel better to nock a feature they do not care about? I personally do not like eating liver, but I do not stand in my local grocery store laughing at people who buy it telling them how stupid they are for enjoying it.

It looks amazing. If i had enough space in my bedroom to have kinect, i would not pass up a chance to verbally boss my squad around.

For what I saw in the E3, I'll never use Kinect in ME3. I don't need it(other than the fact that I don't know how it will be implemented in non-english countries).
But I'm not against it. I think that some people will like this feature.

They're describing voice commands as an innovative feature even though it is nothing new. Rainbow Six 3 had voice commands and its an old xbox game.

Its a waste of resources. They should focus on other things.

I just don't understand why the voice recognition is only for kinect..?

For example my HAWX game on Xbox is perfectly capable of recognising my voice with my standard headset.

Thing is, why not make it into something that is really useful? I seriously doubt the devs are really expecting this feature to be succesful or receive positive feedback. It won't. It's been done in the past and it sucked (experience talking).

Im not ridiculing anything, just pointing out the mistakes in development that have been made in the past to disastrous results (Rainbow Six again). Kinect can be used for other, better, uses in Mass Effect, not for something that's already there and make it 30% more complicated (combat commands).

a lot of people (myself included) think that to add kinect means somthing else must be taken out of the normal game like side missions interesting npcs and the like. me3 really doesnt need kinect at all so why add it microsoft must be smoking green if they think adding it to me3 will make me buy kinect!

I think bioware should concentrate on making mass effect 3 the best game it can be and not on developing pointless uses for useless technology. i don't know how much of your resources are devoted to kinect use but any amount is too much in my opinion. it really is sad though that some people will pay 100 dollars for a gimmick device but i don't think they should be considred in the devolopment of a real game. let's let them hit fake soccer balls with their heads. :?

The day Kinect for PC shows up, I'm buying it. I'll be in line a Best Buy. It's a kick ass idea that is only going to get better with newer versions and as people play with it. But they again I love to see things improved. I'm a sacred cow eater, so something like Kinect that lets me throw away controls and be "in" the game is something that I have got to support.

Did you see the Roman soldier game at E3? That is some awesome looking stuff. Picture Dragon Age four, where you're choosing your spells and aiming them at monsters from a FPS or over the shoulder view... That could rule. ME4... Standing there with your biotic powers (or engineer powers or whatever), whipping items in the world and attackers around like a Jedi or hacking through gates and mechnical stuff in the scenery? You can't beat that.

Will ME3's support for Kinect be perfect? Maybe not. Will it be a new, neat, and interesting thing, hells yes. :-D

This is about the only valid criticism I see for add Kinect.  I admit this kind of thing worries me too.  I suppose it depends on how they manage the project internally.  Which is way beyond me.

The view with Kinect voice control, is that large amounts of r&d for voice rec is already built into the core xbox libraries (I.e. Don't need to be included on disc) and is an easily usable feature with little Dev cost next to implementing it all bespoke and cross platform. For this reason they aren't implementing it with standard headset and mic, and if they did THEN you could slate BW for spending time on irrelevant additions.

I for one, will be interested in how well it works, I don't think it will break immersion ridiculously, and could possibly improve flow in combat (note I said possibly)
