I'll certainly give it a try...if I don't like it, I'll stop. Plain and simple.

I like the idea of the Kinect and even the Playstation Move. I just dont like the games releasing for them because they are copying games that are out on the Wii. This is more so for the Kinect because i dont see it supporting hardcore games like Halo is, I support the Move over Kinect because it supports Resistance 3 and games like those. ME3 is the wrong good game to support the Kinect because I imagine it would take you out of the story or you might accidently interrupt the characters talking. Also its only voice commands, its not like its really using the Kinects full potential.
But hey if you can enjoy ME3 with Kinect than good for you, ill be like most and play it the way it was meant. With a controller lol

Hear you on Garrus.  :pinched:  Miranda's been doing that to me the last couple games:  "Miranda, darling, I know you think you're invincible, but get BEHIND the **** box."

*Dies*  "Where the heck did that abomination come from?  What, did y'all think I needed a hug?!"  *Cat flees in terror*  :P

Hurrhurr.

See, this would be my one problem with the Kinect thing: every time I start swearing, it'll probably think I'm trying to give a command, then make all the squadmates do the wrong thing, in which case I'll swear more...

I'll be using it, definately. And I'm with Chris on this one - why hate on something you won't enjoy but its obvious others will? People here have expressed their opinions in the positive and, heck, the thing wouldnt've sold so well and integration wouldn't even have been developed if there wasn't an audience for it.

If anyone here has actually said "noone will use it" and meant that literally they should never pursue a career in business. Ever.

I'd also like to see the features ported to PC if possible. There's nothing wrong with more /options/ when it comes to platform parity. Of course they're different but give people the OPTION to use things how they want. I'm loving Space Marine on PC atm but I'm enjoying it even more because I can use my 360 controller for it. I do wish I could say the same for ME.

Couple of points to make.

-Why hate?  Because it's a waste of resources that could've gone into content,  that are instead being used to implement something that does not improve the game in any meaningful way,  and actually detracts from the game even if used.  Seriously,  what does reading the screen to hear Shepherd say something completely different add?  What does a less accurate way of directing squadmates to perform actions add?  Because with a controller you could direct them to a specific location,  voice control does not offer 3 dimensional specification.  It doesn't bring anything new or improve anything existing,  hence waste of resources.

-You're actually demonstrating why you shouldn't ever pursue a career in buisness.  Wasting a sizeable amount of resources in implementing something a very small portion of your customers will use,  because the feature does not improve the product in any way,  is horrible buisness accumen.  This adds no value,  it doesn't improve the experience,  so it won't sell any significant extra units,  so it is resources that could've been used to develop something that would've added value and resulted in more sales.

-Options are just fine if they add something to the product.  I could add an option to play the sound of a duck quacking everytime I press the Q key to a game,  it wouldn't add something to the product.  This is a similiar case.  Reading the screen to hear shepherd say something completely different is pointless,  as is issuing commands without having any control over the outcome.  'Cause IRL,  I could yell "Get the big one!" and my teammates would know what to do,  can't be done with kinect,  it gives you the 1980's text game problem of "Guess which word the Dev liked".  So all you get is a useless feature that depends on the AI figuring out what you could've specified easily with a controller.

This is a very nearsighted way to look at thing.

I'd imagine everyone has a few things they don't like about ME. Missions they skip, characters they don't interact with, aspects they choose to ignore when possible. To them, such things don't add to the experience. But someone likes them, someone uses them. Just because you don't like using a feature doesn't mean it's 'waste of resources'.

Saying that is just plain ignorant. You don't know how much time or effort went into implementing Kinect (not much, I'd guess; it's not like it's even that big or complex of a feature) You don't know how many Kinect users - of which, there are many - will use the feature or be more attracted to Mass Effect because of the feature's inclusion. You don't know anything about anything, so please remove your foot from your mouth and stop acting as if you do.

You don't work for Bioware, you don't work for Microsoft, you don't develop with Kinect, you don't deal in marketing, you are in no way, shape or form an expert on anything involved in the matter. You have no place or knowledge to be declaring what is and isn't a useful allocation of funds and resources with ME3. At all.

I do wonder if the squadmates will be programmed to say something if they don't understand your commands.

"Garrus, get over there."
"Speak up, I can't hear you!"

"Liara, jump into that bottomless pit!"
"I don't understand!"

"Tali, do a backflip and ninja strike that Cerberus operative in the head!"
"I can't do it!"

They would have had to work on a speech recognition system for that, and it would take way too long. But yes, they could have done that, and they probably still could (for PC and PS3), if they didn't have good 'ole MS making sure this is only for Xbox 360.

From what I hear, the Kinect microphone is actually quite a bit superior and more reliable. The headsets can be a little iffy.

I will certainly be using it, and am glad that BioWare are embracing new technologies.

Though i can understand why those that play on the lesser systems, such as the Sony Playstation 3 and personal computers, are less than excited.

I'm with you on the convo's, but i think if it works, will be AMAZING for squad commands.

It's the best way of giving Console players the tactical choice of hotkeys without pausing the game.

I wonder, what would happen if you had the speaker volume up high enough, and the kinect recognised some in game combat dialogue (or something) for a voice command. :P

Anyway, I'm sure it will be fun to experience (though I probably won't get the chance).
