I wonder, what would happen if you had the speaker volume up high enough, and the kinect recognised some in game combat dialogue (or something) for a voice command. :P

Anyway, I'm sure it will be fun to experience (though I probably won't get the chance).

It could happen - I've had quite a few instances of my flatmates talking outside my room and causing Kinect to start 'doing things' Image IPB

kinect is a useless technology that will not enhance the experience of mass effect 3 or videogames in general. saying the words on the screen is completely redundant as shepard says something completely different and shepard already has a voice. kinect is a worthless gimmick and nothing more.

Here here.

The Kinect tech itself is astounding, and could be used elseware for various purposes and make a difference.

...But not in gaming.

The Kinect records you while playing, than while your asleep it uploads the video on youtube with its youtube account.

On serious note i support the Playstation Move device more than the Kinect because the Kinect only seems to support games that i can play on the Wii. This feature would be better if it was more than just voice command as an option, like waving the gun around and shooting Cerberus soldiers. Actually playing ME3 with the voice commands as an added bonus of owning the Kinect would alone get my support for this device. But the problem with the Kinect is it continues to be gimmecky and a waste of a good piece of technology. Also I am not jealous that the 360 gets this feature over the PS3 or the PC, at least the PSMove supports more than just gimmecky stuff.

You sound pretty jealous, and rather uninformed.

The Kinect is technologically superior to the Wii and the Playstation Move by some distance, but it has taken developers a while to get to grips with it and utilise it in less "gimmicky" ways.

This is happening now, though. I bought Rise of Nightmares for use on the Kinect yesterday, and it is astounding, and the recent Child of Eden is, bar none, the best motion gaming experience available in the home.

I think the voice command is a pretty intuitive and non-intrusive way of incorporating the Kinect into Mass Effect. People have previously joked and ranted about the possibility of Mass Effect becoming one of those pretend-to-shoot games with the Kinect. It's not though. It's still Mass Effect. It's not bastardized or changed to suit some gimmick. It won't hurt anyone for not having it. It plays the same, but utilizes the Kinect in a way that complements the game, instead of changing it.

Of course, this isn't something to buy a Kinect over, but if you already have one, it's a very, very nice feature. Well, as long as the game responds to "GET THE **** OUT OF MY COVER, GARRUS!" I've shouted that too many times to count in ME2. Him getting out of the way when I say that would be thrilling. I wouldn't pay a $100 for that, but again, it's a nice feature if you already have a Kinect.

Honestly I don't care, cause I'm a PC gamer, but I'd love to be able to shout to the squadmates sth like
"DEAR GOD, YOUR'E NOT IN COVER YOURE JUST CROUCHING CLOSE TO ONE GOD DAMN"

plus the ability to rant at your squad in person while aboard the Normandy.
But that is real-life sci-fi :-)
