We know there will be fewer squadmates but given that fact and beyond social interaction, squaddies serve a combat role, where wil Grunt be relegated to? I imagine he will not even be a playable squadmate, in light of Vega.

Since we'll get Vega, and someone will get Ashley, I think that Grunt will not be a permanent squadmate. Maybe a temporary squadmate on Tuchanka.
