I read the Ages article and I don't understand how people had known about the year of the beginning of the First Blight? Actually, there are no Grey Wardens in 800 T.E. who could identify Archdemon's awakening and so identify the beginning of Blight.

I think scholars estimate the beginning of the date by comparing Tevinter historical records and dwarven Shaperate archives. Plus, it's possible that when Dumat was "awakened" and corrupted, he wasted no time in showing himself and the horde. He was, after all, I believe, considered the most powerful of the Tevinter gods, and the one most closely linked to the Magisters and magic.

He was the most powerful, and unfortunately, the first slain.
Given that he supposedly nearly brought humankind to extinction, I'm hoping that a future DA game takes place during this time so we can see what a real blight was like. The fifth blight was over before it truly began, and didn't affect anyone outside of Ferelden. It seemed to be more of an appetizer compared to the main course meal that was the first blight.
