I think someone should go beat ME1 again and listen to the credits.

I played Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2...I had conversations in depth with every squad member and there are some I like and don't care for.
In the third game of a trilogy, introducing a new character that will prohibit another squadmate from being on your team is immersion breaking and there is no emotional weight.
What if Han Solo or Chewy were replaced in Return of the Jedi for someone new? How would that have gone?

All of this because you don't like a single character you know absolutely nothing about? What is your REAL motivation for the James Vega hate? I just don't buy the whole "newcomers" argument. It just doesn't make much sense, no matter which way you try to draw it. Seems more like a smokescreen to me.
If the rumors about him are to be believed, it's obvious why a large number of guys hate him. I wonder.....did you argue against doubling the size of the team from ME1 to ME2? Probably not. But James, all by himself is just too much of a distraction, too much of a resource hog?
Come on!

i agree.
maybe obsidian should have taken over with ME2, so bioware could reboot its company with a different game.

You're acting as if we're not going to see the VS at all, and that James Vega is replacing Garrus.
Er, what?

My personal view is, if the entire party in ME3 was comprised only of ME and ME2 characters, I would likely find the whole thing to be incredibly boring. I already know those characters, their histories, most of their secrets, what they're like in bed, etc. One of the most exciting things about a new Bioware game (be it a sequel or new IP) is the prospect of new characters. So I'm looking forward to Vega being in the game. None of that has anything to do with the fact that he's supposed to represent a 'new' player's perspective either.

And I mean it, I'll take Conrad Verner at any time rather than this douche.

You're right. Although I believe it also had an electronica feel to it.
I should have specified metal. Trust me, I love metal, but not in ME.

Where's this hardcore hair metal you're hearing because that's one ME3 video I must have missed.

If Vega was a big, busty blonde instead, would she meet with such reprisals? ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, UNDENIABLY NOT! These same people complaining would be singing her praises, no matter what kind of personality she had.

And you don't think that assumption is well, baseless? Garrus already has his own vidoc of his appearance in ME3. Vega's not replacing him.

How is Garrus more important to the story than other squadmates other than the fact he is the most popular squadmate among fellow fans?
I like the "shoot Vega out the airlock" idea. With all the variables being promised, surely choosing squadmates can be accomplished.

This. JV isn't replacing anyone, he's there for the newbs. I say let them have him. But I have heard some squaddies are optional and some appear in only certain mssions. Maybe JV will be optional, that way return players may be able to take an old squaddie with them in his place. That's what I'm hoping for at least.

Bioware don't really pay attention to what people say on the BSN. They do use metrics to see how people play their games though if you leave the option to send anonymous gameplay statistics back home enabled. So I'll just do my part to rig that data.

To some people, he's obviously a 'competition' to their mSheps. Others think his looks equals his personality. Well, if that was the case, Miranda should be a stupid bimbo with absolutely no depth at all.cljqnsnyc wrote...
