Just so long as it is equal across the board then it's fine.

If by 'equal' you mean 'add in strictly gay options' then that won't happen.   Romances are already content most people don't use, so they want to avoid restricting a large portion of those who would possibly use it from seeing it.

Because straight people can't select gay romances? Just like male players can't choose to play as FemShep?

TBH, it still cracks me up that to this day Bioware has yet to include a fully gay or lesbian romance in their games.

I am a straight woman who play as women and as men in RPGs but I always romance men. So far my male Shepards are virgins. I know my Garrus likes Korean women and I hope ME3 lets him find out how much he likes Black men.

The toggle option was discussed before on one of the MANY threads about s/s, and I believe the Bioware representative said the toggle would increase the likelihood of game breaking bugs and the "choice" game genre is plagued by enough bugs as it is.

That's just... really, really, sad if that's true, and a simple if/else statement is likely to introduce game breaking bugs.

agreed. I would imagine it's just a "easy way out" if they can add in S-S romances they can easily implement a toggle.

They are locked, because Bioware has already decided that s/s romance will be in the game and discussing why you don't want it is therefore irrelevant. The main s/s thread is to discuss 'how' s/s romance should be done and not wether or not you like it. Simple.

You're forgetting the fact that Bioware originally had no s/s romance and stated that that's how the Mass Effect series was... it's only after some people discussed how s/s romance should be done and whether or not they liked it that Bioware changed their minds.

It is however a great storytelling tool. One of the oldest ones there is, but however minor it still keeps enthralling people. Saying that it's minor is irrelevant. It adds immensly just by being there.

And ME is nothing if not a setting to tell stories

If so, then why limit the romance possibilities for some?

Because the demands will never end.  Tali and Garrus are romanceable in ME2.  Male Shepard can be gay now.  After ME 3 group X is going to complain and want so and so to be romanceable and the cycle continues

Actually, I don't think it will be an issue going forward because BioWare has learned valuable lessons through the Mass Effect and Dragon Age series, and future products will just include s/s content right from the start and there won't be any more whining from trollophobes complaining about how their favorite characters were "changed".

As much as I dislike some of what they have done with their games, I do respect the hell out of them for acknowledging what a not-so-insignificant portion of their customer base wants, and moving forward.

People will always complain its just human-nature

DA2 thought making everyone bi-sexual will satisfy everybody but that didn't go well as planned.:?

They better make that "gayness toggle" ninja-mance proof... or that's going to hurt a few Shepard canons.

Because political correctness demands it and you're automatically a horrible person for not agreeing with every demand of the S/S crowd.

Many anti-same-sex-relationship threads are locked because they devolve into discussions of homosexuality and sexual politics, sometimes religion.

They are also locked because we already have a thread discussing same-sex relationships in Mass Effect 3, in the Character and Romance forum.

End of line.
