EDIT: I feel like I should say something at least a LITTLE on-topic...

Basically, most of these threads are closed because they turn INTO spam, or because the Mods simply want to keep all of the same-sex romance discussion in one place. If you're so afraid of getting banned that you have to make a sock-puppet account, maybe the BSN isn't the place for you.

And I think it might be just a little more than that. And definitely more than those who would not buy this good game if it wasn't including s/s content. Net loss.

But I suppose neither of us works at Bioware's marketing department, so this discussion should assume there is just one pro-s/s consumer and one anti-s/s consumer, and be about "should BioWare treat them both as equals, or discriminate against one of them"?

Right, just like all of Biowares previous games that didn't feature S/S romance, and all the other games out therer that don't feature S/S.

Thousands refusing to buy the game because of s/s romances?  And this number is defintely much higher than the amount who would buy it because of s/s romances?

I would love to see where those numbers are coming from.

Ah I'm being crude. I want to see where these statistics are from is all.

The idea of Commander Shepard shifting his sexual preferences might not be appreciated by the CoD crowd Bioware has been trying to reach out to latelty.

No, i love the BSN, ive been on here for over a year, im not defined by my sexual orientation or my views on sexual orientation. I agree that BSN isn't the place for me if all we ever talked about was S/S. But thats not all we ever talk about ( or at least not what i ever talk about. The S/S romance thread is constantly at the top).

Agreed.

As for CoD peeps. I don't think they care as long as it's not forced on them (like literally forced on them) and they can blow sh*t up.

I still don't get why people get so up in arms about s/s romances being available.

Just my two cents, I don't mind same-sex romance as long as characters established to have a certain sexual preferences don't suddenly change. Garrus and Tali spring to mind. A same-sex Jacob romance would be unwittingly hilarious though, just for the reversal of the 'sneaking into the captains quarters' bit. If new characters are introduced who happen to be homosexual or bisexual or whatever I wouldn't mind.

And I think we have a S/S megathread so thats why other threads about the same topic are being locked.

Shepard isn't a he.

Shepard has no 'sexual preferences', only options for romance.

Shepard doesn't have to take any of these options that are available.

In Mass Effect 3, there will be options for same-sex romance.

The option for same-sex romance doesn't make the character homosexual, unless the player chooses to go through with it.

Equally, the option for heterosexual romance doesn't make the character heterosexual, unless the player chooses to go through with it.

Regarding sales numbers, we aren't privy to Bioware's internal decision making. Clearly, they don't think s/s romances will hurt sales, or they wouldn't be doing it. The company as a whole is probably even more risk averse after the trainwreck that was DA2 and the fan reaction to it; the last thing they'd do would be to endanger their flagship series with a foolish decision.

In their eyes, at least, the decision to implement s/s romances isn't risky.

Except its not about the same topic, because one is for, and the other is against. It is not the same. You can't post your opinion on the "♂♂ • ♀♀ For The Love — The Same-Sex Romance Discussion Thread **may..." thread when it's the opposite of what the thread is about.

If anyone has a problem with same sex romances just don't pursue them. Don't ruin other peoples fun.
Unless Bio does a DA2 job on it, which I'm sure nobody wants.

Why are anti s/s threads labeled as trolls ?

First: they are definitely spam since there are and have been for years now threads dedicated to the discussion of this topic and opening new threads instead of participating in the already existing ones does just litter the forum with repetitive topics

Second: nine out of ten the posts starting them are very poorly worded and usually pretty offensive ( with or without intend)

Third: there is no good positive argument for the exclusion of s/s content. With a positive argument I mean something along the lines that it would be better for the game (E.g. having a fixed PC and a fixed LI can be used for telling a more focused story). Usually only negative arguments are offered (I do not want it so no one should have it) or plain bigotry and of course people get called out for that.

Though I have to say that I am also somewhat disappointed by the behavior or the pro s/s posters, who are far to fast to swallow flame-bait. I would rather prefer if obvious trolling either gets ignored or only calm and levelheaded responses (Not that I believe that anyone would change their mind because of it but the s/s posters would at least have the moral high ground)
To often threads like this end up looking like a bunch of monkeys throwing poo at each other.

It ruins the fun for a lot of people when one of your favourite companions like Kaiden or Garrus turn out to be Bisexual and come onto you like Anders.

Yeah, and everyone who thinks they might - just might - be mistaken is labelled "troll", and gets banned. So much for free speech.

Why?

I never understood why someone being bisexual matters.

I mean I had to deal with Tali's OMG Shepard I love you all along! And Ashley trying to dry hump my Shepard's leg. You can't deal with a smidge of that?

I'm willing to bet my goat eveyone whose mistaken for troll (and do please place a link to the original threads) was actually trolling.

Like saying gay men aren't in the military and don't have experience. That's plain idiocy and bull****. <_<

Its the fact that they are established characters and it makes no sense for them to change, and is unrealistic.

Yeah having them come onto you like Anders would be bad, but they can make it work differently through Shepard's choice of dialogue.

I placed a link in the OP. I created this thread because i was annoyed that that thread was labelled as a troll thread from the OP, which it wasn't.

So I assume you disapproved of the Tali and Garrus romance?
Since they were established not to have feelings for Shepard in the first game and not be sexually attracted to humans.

Except that's exactly what it was.

It made a incorrect assertion and proclaimed it fact (which it wasn't). Posted a new thread for it and fanned the flames.

That's pretty rife trolling as much as if I posted "well human females are mostly sl*ts in and it's pretty much impossible to have a monogamous relationship with one so BW shouldn't have monogamous relationships with female humans because of the level of impossibility."

And if you read that and went "um...what?" I'm pretty sure you shared a reaction with several gay male military men if they would've read the OP of the thread you posted.
