Just in case anyone else is interested, I was drinking a good ole keg of deep dwarf ale the other night, and I stumbled upon this. It seems the magic number for the dm pallet to not have the on log in dm client crash is somewhere around 5625. This includes custom creatures, items, encounters, triggers, and placeables. Hope this helps someone else someday.
Cheers,
Laz

There's around 5k palletted items from Bioware alone. So a "vanilla" module should support around 11k custom blueprints before DMs have issues.

If you add the CEP ... as of 2.3, there's another 4k blueprints. This still leaves abit over 7k custom blueprints to fool around with.

Ahh yes I forgot to mention I do indeed have CEP 2.3. If you don't this number could be as you said about 4k higher. All I know is when I exported all the custom creatures, items, encounters, triggers, and placeables, from the stable pallet version of my mod, this is the number I got.

I believe you also need to count any custom doors, merchants and sounds that have blueprints as well.

Pretty sure the total actual limit is 16384.

Does anyone have a test module with a huge palette that crashes DM client?

The module we build in is very pallette heavy while the module we load up is not. I a pretty sure it crashes the DM Client as the last time I accidently left the full pallette in DMs could not log in, lol.

It is indeed in the 16,000 as when I reduce our pallette down to its slim 12000 by removing the lazy pallette bloat for building it is fine to log in. Leaving the FULL pallette in it jumps to 16897 and DMs crash when trying to enter.

I just need a DM crashing module without lots of custom haks to debug the DM palette crash.

Gah, I keep forgetting. We're within 200 of the mod resource crash, so I should be able to whip something up just by dumping all our resman places into cep_custom...I'll be in touch.

Here's a hak with 9574 items and places in it. Combined with default bioware resources and the cep, it should put you over the top easily.

Kalbaern,
Indeed there is a doors section on the DM pallet, but none of my custom ones show up there. And I don't see a section for merchants and sounds so I don't know about that.

Funky,
The number you threw out there must include the standard bioware blueprints and CEP 2.3 ones? If Kalbaern's numbers for those are correct, plus the number I threw out there are than that is close to what you are thinking. Which gives me an idea, perhaps I could chuck all the bioware and CEP one's in my resman folder instead of the custom ones I have now?

Wow TMSDude that's alot of custom DM pallet resources, and I thought I had alot at about 14k.

Virusman,
Resman works beautifully for me, but if it can be improved upon, or a better alternative found that would be fantastic. And please keep us on windows servers in mind, we need love too.
