So I'm working on cinimatics, and have been using the animation viewer to go over the charater animations.  I was wondering if there was a way to clip part of an animation, in this case the laydown animation, so that the character only does part of it or pauses mid-way through.

Does anyone know how to clip, pause, or customize these animations for a cinamatic?

you could try to orchestrate the action queue - if that makes any sense - you could pile up the necessary animations with delaycommand on them with the synched milliseconds - at least that is what comes to mind - i have never tried that so what do i know?

If you're using the cutscene camera, you could time it to only show the parts that you want. Otherwise, the best I can offer is Morbane's idea of placing delay commands at differeing levels.

I know M. Rieder uses this trick: you can apply a vfx called something like VFX_FREEZE_ANIMATION that stops the character from animating. When you remove the vfx, they will not pick where they left off, but start with new stuff right away. Then it's just a matter of timing your freezes and unfreezes right with delays.

(And MR gets a :wizard: for that idea!)

I'm not sure using delay commands like Morbane suggested would work for this. If I understand it right that would allow you to repeat the animation before the previous instance of that animation finished. It would only allow you to loop the beginning part of the animation.

VFX_FREEZE_ANIMATION sounds like exactly what I was looking for, I'll have to play around with it and see if I can get it to work. If that doesn't work I'll just have to fine tune the timing like CW suggested.

Thanks all for the responses.

I thought VFX_FREEZE_ANIMATION was broken due to timing issues. It got broken in a patch a while ago...did it get fixed?

This was the main reason a statue prefab was never made that was in various stages of developing.
