But isn't that the point of the DA series in the first place? To encourage the players to build thier own legacies and experience the different paths of the story? It seems like they just don't really care if they're only answer is going to be 'oh well, we'll just add a 'chose your own adventure' module', like they did with ME2. I can understand with ME because there aren't as many 'little' decisions as there is in DA. DA is so detailed, I can't imagine NOT going through the effort to forge the path of both Hero of Ferelden and Champion of Kirkwall and absorb all the rich details in the story, environment and characters that's in both games.

Uh, too bad?

The reality is that the people they don't want to get into a bind haven't loaded Origins on to their hard drive or console in a year or more. You may think they should be forced to play through the whole of Origins and Awakening all over again just to have some minor effects in DA2, but Rob seems to disagree.

And note that I added in "partially" (which definitely was not implied in the quote). They're not going back to patch Origins and Awakening and DLC campaigns after all this time. They're definitely not going to waste the resources to patch in things that don't even matter to the games being patched (especially with the PC patch now causing problems and wasting the time of everyone involved in looking at it).

Patches for Origins and Awakening are off the table, and my contention (despite Rob's alleged statement) is that they were never really even on it. So you can either have import that doesn't work at all, with their promise that they'll try to do better in the future, or you can have some method of just specifying the choices you made when playing Origins and Awakening and finally be able to experience DA2 the way it was intended. Which would you prefer?

I know I choose the latter. And if they do it, then I'm going to replay Origins and Awakening and make all my preferred choices, and then I'm going to enter those choices manually, and then I'm going to replay DA2 and have all those choices finally recognized. Now if somebody doesn't want to do that, then I'm all for them having the ability to simply recreate or create from scratch their own choices. I win, and they win.

Personally, I would prefer the former to the latter  because I can connect with my characters and the companions more, but in the given situation it's a decent alternative for those who either don't have it or aren't bothered to replay through it with the existing bugs. Honestly, they should have never done the import from Origins to DA2 because it became poorly executed and had no important impacts on DA2 in the final product. I hope they make more of an effort to make sure such a problem doesn't persist into DA3.

With this, is it only going to be the big decisions from Origins and Awakening or will they also include some of the smaller side decisions? Will it also allow for decisions made in DLC they could possibly impact the appearances of characters or other events happening?

I assume any choice that had a plot flag that DA2's import function seeks for. So stuff like "Is Zevran alive?" "Dark Ritual?" "Who did you romance?" "Did you kill Sophie Dryden?"

Otherwise what would be the point?

Exactly. If events that happened in the DLCs for both Origins and DA2 are excluded from this shortcut or even if they don't give you all the decision options present in the main story quests, why bother? If that happens, I'll just stick to enjoying hours replaying the games and then going into the console to fix any import errors. I feel bad for the console players who are stuck with this problem however and the shortcut 'make your save' is what's needed for that.
