This. After playing New Vegas, FO3 just seems like wasted potential. Hopefully Bethesda will take a leaf out of Obsidian's book when making FO4 (I'm not exactly hopeful of Obsidian getting to work on that)
EDIT: Also +1 for Liz Lemon avatar and +500 for Jack Donaghy sig

I don't want a TES game for another 5 or 6 years after Skyrim is released. I hope Howard will be under the hood of another brand new IP, preferably sci-fi oriented

It was the single most immersive gaming experience i have ever had, and i hope Obsidian is stripped of all of their Fallout rights by next year. Bethesda forever!

I think that depends on your definition of 'expansion'. In my books, it meets the definition in virtually every way possible.
There is no rule which states that an expansion cannot be better than the original game.

Fallout 3 is what got me playing modern video RPGs. I should curse them, but I love the game too much. FNV took longer to win me over, but it did eventually. I would rejoice about another Fallout title either way.
Same here but after FO:NV I just can't touch FO3 anymore. Of course I've only played 3 on PS3 whereas I've NV on PC - that could be part of the problem

I hope it's Obsidian working on Fallout: 4. Bethesda's take on Fallout is terrible. Even if it is Bethesda working on Fallout: 4, I hope Obsidian gets another "spin off" Fallout game. What is funny is the fact that Obsidian's "spin offs" are actually more canon than Bethesda's games.
This. This all the way.

I'm sorry, but it's hard to get immersed with bad voice acting, storyline, dialogue, and terrible trolls... err... I mean supermutant designs. Fallout requires a deep storyline, and Bethesda would be one of the worst companies to turn to for that. Obsidian is where immersion was born since they have a lot of people who made the originals.

I'll never understand how someone can love NV but hate FO3. NV is just FO3 with a few bells and whistles.
To be fair I enjoyed what I played of "Fallout 3". It was not an abomination. It just lacked... something. It did not feel much like the original two "Fallout" games in anything but name and general background story. It was also woefully incomplete until Bethesda released "Broken Steel".

I think the extent of their work to date depends on whether they will wait until the next gen of consoles for release.
I doubt they would give this one to Obsidian.

The music was also a huge downer compared to FO3.
It didn't really help much that the only storyline I was really interested in, is being saved for a DLC.

It is still relative, though, but you can't get over the bad voice acting and dialogue. I mean a "smart" character in 3 just repeats everything that was just told to him/her. When you first meet Three Dog and he keeps stating that he "fights the good fight with radio," and your character just says something like "you fight the good fight with music" or something like that.
Although I like Liam Neeson as an actor, his voice acting was one of the worst I've seen. He is so monotone and emotionless throughout the entire game.
I'm just curious, though, what did you not like about New Vegas? Was it the deep storyline that allows for huge flexibility and a lot of consequences for your choices, or was it the improved voice acting and dialogue? I mean the only things I can say were bad about New Vegas was the crappy engine and the bugs that weren't fixed from Fallout: 3. Other than those blemishes this was my second favorite Fallout because of the good storyline and voice acting.

You are welcome to your opinion, but personally I enjoyed New Vegas a great deal more than FO3.
