The real Fallout series died after number 2. I did play 3 and New Vegas but it just fealt like sci-fi Oblivion. Enjoyable time spend sure but doesn't fit my category of brilliant games.

I'm with you.

Just let Obsidian handle majority of the Fallout series while Beth can focus on their flagship game -> TES

Everyone's happy.

Oh, and my personal opinion: I liked NV more. I wasn't really a big fan of endless tourism since Oblivion.
And the writing, plot with choices(something that FO3 was lacking) and characters are obviously better too.

I'm with you.

I'ld have to say I dissargee to an extent on that, I like the new feel, and Fallout returning to top down view is as likely as Mario Returning to a 2 D side scroller. Not very. But then again as they say Opinions are like ****s everyone has one.

It's not about something as simple as that. I loved BG2 but I still loved TW2 just as much if not even more. It's more about the story and the general feel...Bethesda is not known for amazing stories. They are known for sandboxes. Morrowind, Oblivion, FO3 and New Vegas are all very awesome games but nothing spectacular in my books.

Running around with a hammer and beating **** to death is great fun but it doesn't tell a great story

We need a Fallout game set in European country besides England. I always wanted to see the Vatican in a post-apocalyptic hellscape.

Also imo Fallout 1 and 2 offered more freedom in how you wanted to play the game then Fallout 3. It just seems lost in FO3.

I think Obsidian revived the series with New Vegas. Since my favorite Fallout was number 2 due to its bigger world and better companions, New Vegas fits right up that alley. Although Fallout: 1 had a better main story, the world design of 2 was just better with Vault City and the Den as my favorite places. New Vegas almost perfectly meshes both aspects of the series. We have a Master type "villain," Caesar, we still have Shady Sands/NCR, and we have the real Brotherhood of Steel still causing us to lose our minds with their technological hoarding and old, unchanging ways.

For the best you could hope for Fallout 4 for me at least would be:

Utilize Skyrim's game engine.

Bring back New Vegas' weapon customizations/mods and crafting etc.

QA tested for bugs and glitches for a year.

And like others have said let Obsidian develop it.

And that would probably be a serious 'must-have' game. ;)

I won't be surprised if Bethesda starts dropping hints about Fallout 4 next year and it's a given they will utilize the new Creation Engine (aka Skyrim).

Yeah. I just hope that they will throw it at Obsidian. They said that they give them New Vegas because Obsidian have former Black Isle people that work on Fallout 1 and 2 so it's only natural for them to create next Fallout.
So I hope that Obsidian will get new engine and Fallout 4 to make :-D

Which is a pity really, not bashing on Creation Engine, but I'd prefer if Bethesda made their Fallout more unique than Skyrim in post apocalyptic wasteland

You hope?

They are, you know.

That's like asking if Dragon Age 3 is coming. Or The Witcher 3.

I hope not. I hate Fallout 3. Rather Obsidian at least.

This. After playing New Vegas, FO3 just seems like wasted potential. Hopefully Bethesda will take a leaf out of Obsidian's book when making FO4 (I'm not exactly hopeful of Obsidian getting to work on that)

EDIT: Also +1 for Liz Lemon avatar and +500 for Jack Donaghy sig

Obsidian usually make wasted potential, Fallout New Vegas was good becuase all they had to do was improve on Fallout 3, they had everything ready for them.

Long enough they don't make it too easy like New Vegas( seriously, ME2 Veteran is more challenging then FO:NW Hardcore), Obsidian can take Fall out 4.
