I just want to ensure the download for Awakening is compatible with the store-bought disc for Origins, before I go and purchase it. The disc does install all files directly for modification by all DLCs including Awakening right? Silly question probably but I just want to make sure.

I just noticed it appears to run in a special "Origin" client, which I assume would make it incompatible with a retail disc?

You select Awakening from within the Origins client, its not a seperate game but a expansion to the origenal.
