There was an article out not long ago from someone who reviewed the game. I can't find it now, but the reviewer said he found the controls clunky and awkward until he switched to a controller, on the PC. After that according to him, it felt much easier to play.

What is the likelihood that ME3 interface wil be controller-centric?

I have no intention to play with anything but a keyboard and mouse. Do you think it will be the same, roughly, as ME2? If so that's not too bad. I got used to it.

I thought ME2 didn't have native controller support on the PC?

@MrChowderClam I don't know, but this is about ME3, so maybe they've added it.

It doesn't have native joypad support but you can use a third party  app like xpadder to get joypads working with the PC version.  Perhaps the reviewer used something like that.

There has been no talk of joypad control being added to the PC version (but then again they haven't said diddly squat about the PC version).  It isn't something I would expect them to add.  The PC version is geared towards playing with a mouse and keybaord, that is how Bioware does it.  I wouldn't rule out that they may add joypad control but I think it would be one hell of a climb down for them.

How would they have reviewed Mass Effect 3?

Oh, you're talking about Mass Effect 2?

I tried Xpadder and the controls were worse trying to use a controller, not enough buttons to fulfill all the functions in the different modes of control and the analog stick was odd to use to do the mini game where you had to match the symbols as well as navigating the Shop screen.

I don't know how likely ME3 is to include an option to switch the controls to a controller, but I like you seem to, I hope they do. The Witcher 2 did it and the game controls just like it was made for the console.

Since ME3 is going to be multiplatform release, I don't see any reason why they couldn't program it in since they'd already have the controls programmed.

Native gamepad support on PC means they will have to ship the game with 2 menu systems, one like the Xbox that is customised for gamepad, and one thats customised for KB/Mouse.
Is it possible, yes, is it likely, dont think so.

Some people who learned to play shooters on console think gamepads are better. They're wrong of course, they just don't know it.

Really? I always got bored instantly because of the auto aim thing. I want to aim, where is the point of playing a shooter when the game aims for you, you just press a button and bang is dead.

To be fair, Mass Effect isn't a Multi-player game where twich reflexes are required for gameplay. Now, the New Tribes on the other hand.....

I don't find playing mass effect with a mouse and keyboard difficult at all, I don't have anything against people who play games on console, I just find console controllers unfathomable, and yes that's a fault on my part, but I still won't be using a controller for anything... ever...

I have used both (prefer controller). I'll grant you that a mouse is good for aiming, I can do nearly as well with a joystick, but that's a personal thing. What I hate with M+K is movement. It feels so jerky after using an analogue stick for years. It's literally walk OR run, Forward OR 45 degrees OR sideways. Analogue sticks allow me to find a sweet spot in speed and angle.

With my background I personally find moving with a keyboard is more annoying than aiming with an analogue stick. Even though that same problem will plague me when I use Xpadder I use joypads for all my PC games, it just feels more comfortable to me.

Some genious designer needs to design the perfect controller/mouse hybrid and they will make millions from it imo.

I like occasionally using a controller for some PC games so i can sit back and relax, but long term play i do prefer the mouse as it is just far far better than using a thumbpad to look around and aim.

No need of being grumpy. I was just stressing my preference, but if i wish to play with a controller i would have bought a console.

You mean like this, which was a big flop for Logitech?

Not to be deterred, they tried again. It had better functionality than the first, but couldnt be used as a mouse.

You just strolled in, said "Sorry I prefer keyboard + mouse" and expect NOT to have backlash on it?

Why did you even do it? It adds NOTHING to the discussion?
