Perhaps. But it's still miles better than the initial reaction and predictions these two characters recieved.

My initial reaction to Jack before ME2 launched was basically biker chick in space. In fact, she's the only character in the ME 'verse that has a uniqe style. We've never seen anyone else to look as outlandish as she does. And my reaction to Miranda did fall into the space ho catagory, but I wasn't raving mad about it. Sex sells, and she was obviously designed to reflect that at least in looks. I'm ok with that, because I know how important it is to be as cliche as possible here in america.

I'm not raving mad about Vega, either. To me, he just looks like a space tool, from the only artwork that's been shown.

Oh they totally were whining.  Probably even more so than people are whining about Vega now.  Although, ya know, their pre-game whining was probably justified, as arguably the best ME1 squadmate was replaced a slightly less awesome squadmate in ME2.  

I'm in the "I will reserve judgement about Vega" camp.  I actually like his character design (well, the somewhat fugly face, not the huge steroid-induced muscles).  Having not so pretty characters is a good thing, I think.  I'm just hoping that he doesn't ask a ton of annoying questions that we have to sit through.    Or if he does start asking such questions, we at least have a "Shut up, Vega," interrupt.

They called him Wrex-lite IIRC. Also, people thought he was an infant Krogan. That's where the Kelly "baby Krogan" line comes from. I'll admit I was dissappointed when I found out that Wrex got benched but I didn't take it out on Grunt.

Now that I think of it I'll be surprised if there isn't a funny easter egg somewhere about the s/s war going on right now.

Yeah, I can't see faux hawks being popular 200 years into the future. His visual design is based entirely on todays pop culture.

I'm curious about Vega since it's strange to introduce a new character in the 3rd act of a story. Seems strange to me but I'm sure Bioware has a good reason for dropping him in 3. I thought he was going to be like a DLC character like Zaeed.

Oh, I can think of a number of different ways on how he could be worse than Jacob (chief of which is BioWare giving him a personality akin to Raiden in Metal Gear Solid 2).
