I died. LMAO!

P.S. Am I the only one who finds it ironic to hear people complain about Vega looking too "soldier lackie" while praising Zaeed (factually THE worst character in the Mass Effect Universe) in the same sentence?

seeing alot of people asking why we are judging him already, and its not so much that it is a bad idea hell I'd love more badashes on the team get that whole military feel going when you charge out with shepard vega and zaheed or a krogan, the problem isn't a male soldier himself but the idea that he will be potentially be replacing one or more of the characters we've grown fond of, with how exceptional bioware writing is compared to most games you can actually end up liking these characters, so hearing news that a character you like may get the shaft for a new guy they are writing in just to help newcomers into the game can damage the prospects of players already accustom to mass effect, while I'm fine with where wrex ended up I wish that he at least had a mission or some dlc and I don't think I liked where liara or ashley/kaidan ended up, wasn't a big fan of ashley/kaidan to begin with though so I was ok there, yada yada yada

I'm a little disappointed in Vega, but I think we needed some sort of squad member with a close... interest in what is happening on Earth in ME3, for dramatic sense at least.

Plus, new squad members mean old ones get replaced, and I'm upset most by that... at least I'll still have Tali and Garrus.

Putting new squad mates isn't a bad thing specially when we have no idea what kind of a person Vega is. And because everyone in ME2 can die, BW need to give atleast few squad mates that are alive anyway. Only way to do this is add some new people. Who knows maybe Vega will become one of the most liked characters.

Am I the only one who is actually disappointed that we're not getting MORE new squadmates? Don't get me wrong, I love the oldies with all my heart, but I wanted some level of change. I was hoping AT LEAST three new characters.

I guess the point of Vega is so you're not forever alone if you got your squad killed in ME2. Also, so new players don't feel excluded, imagine you purchase a game and all NPCs start talking to you about old anecdotes and stuff you don't know anything about, you'd feel a little lost.

What I really want to know is how are they going to handle the different possible squads after the suicide mission, from everyone surviving to only one or two survivors. It would be funny if they decided to set up a scenario in which all past squadmates except Liara and the VS get killed at the beginning of ME3 so they don't have to worry about that xD

What is this fascination with that show? People were getting into shape and bulking up LONG before that show ever existed so why all the references? Maybe it's a generation thing. I never even heard of that show until a year ago.

Also....

It's very interesting that a character who has never uttered a single word is being judged COMPLETELY by his appearance. Just because he's a big guy doesn't make him a moron or an idiot. He's supposed to be a bit naive about the way the galaxy works, which could work well as a contrast to Shepard, who hasn't had any rest in years...except for when he was dead of course.

Still, Vega should be seen in action and heard before judged. I don't recall this much attention being showered on any of the other characters when they were new. Why is Vega so special? Either way, the ME team has earned a lot more faith then a lot of people are willing to give.

They know what they're doing.

A new game needs new characters it's the law.

Also, the Jersey Shore look is hilarious.

Some people on this forum have convinced me that his primary purpose is going to be saving the poor defenseless kittens from the big bad Reapers (and maybe the occasional stray dog too).

1. EVERYONE CAN DIE. Think on that for a second.

2. He's a mirror/guide with a mohawk for newer players that didn't touch the last two games, which happens more often than people think.

3. He's a soldier AKA a useful teammate. My best guess is that he'll be a man-krogan since Wrex and Grunt won't be available(like if you killed them)

4. Going into maybe-land here, Bioware has promised s/s content for male Shepherds, and he might take on that role; especially since Kaidan can die in the first game.

The only thing that came to mind when I read this thread title was, "And why isn't he a volus, hanar, or elcor?" Because if you're going to put someone totally new into a sequel as a squad member, might as well enjoy the novelty of making it be some unusual lifeform. But in all likelihood Vega will be in my squad sometimes just because he's male and human, and well-sculpted futuristic armor can make a man look great from the back view.

ME2's primary focus was on learning a lot about the new people you're recruiting. Back story and what not. ME3's supposed to focus on the whole reapers invasion thingy, adding a new character last minute looks like BW's trying to detract the player away from the main plot by having to spend time focusing on learning about the new guy. At least for a portion of the game.

That was about ME2 and it's suicide mission though. The point of it was getting to know them and gettign their trust so they survive the SM. ME3 is about getting support from the entire races, really different thing than a suicide mission.

My only complaint is that he looks like a tool.

And Jack looks like [ everyone could fill it with quadrillion insults ]. Yet she's an amazing, complex character. Who thought Miranda would be anything more than a pretty bimbo for Shep to screw before ME2? And yet she turned out to be so much more! We don't know Vega yet. Does he looks like a dudebro? Yes. Does he act like one? We have no idea. Be open minded, you may be in for a surprise (esp. if you consider how likely it is that he's gay. In such case, he surely wouldn't be stereotypical dudebro tool made to cater to real-life idiot dudebros).

When I first saw Jack I wasn't interested in having her as part of my team, but everyone was saying how great she was so I started talking to her and yes, she's one of my favorate characters now.  Miranda, well I can't say she's at the top of my friendship list, but she's ok.

I'm also waiting till we play the game to decide about Vega.  I've also known guys who were built like him and were quite smart.  I hope he has a sense of humor, even if it's dry or sarcastic.

Perhaps the biggest reason we won't be getting a volus, hanar, or elcor squadmate is the amount of combat animations such a character would require.  All other squadmates (and Shepard) share an animation skeleton, at least as far as I can tell.  Volus, hanar, and elcor characters do not.

This. Just picture having to animate all the tenticles on a Hanar in battle. That must be PAINFUL to do. Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE for a Hanar to join the team, but yeah...

LOL! I learnt this from Bioware themselves with the ME2 and DA2 debacles.
