I get the feeling that Vega is gonna be the Kaidan/Jacob of the game when I get ME3. Always left on the ship.

So?  We've had krogan in our squads the last two games!  Doesn't get much uglier than that

I'm sure a big part of the writer's job is get the codex and cinematics to rehash things for new players, with Sheppard providing much of the run down at his trial.
I also imagine, mostly due to the excellent characters developed in ME 2, that I'll initially dislike the guy and gradually grow to like the snarky comments; like Jack but with muscles. As long as I can be friends with the guy, as opposed to Jacks love 'em or curse 'em dialog choices, I'll probably end up trying to chat the guy up. (Literally, I usually just avoid Jack's hole unless my playthrough is specifically trying to romance her or trying to max my renegade score.)

I haven't watched any of the E3 footage to avoid being spoiled.

Has anyone even heard any dialogue from Vega yet? If not it might be a little premature to label him a 'douche.'

Dont be mean about Snooki -  she inspired something awesome, something to be treasured and loved......one of the best south park episodes I have seen in years

But on Vega - ok i dont like the design of him but I am sure when I actually get to play the game he will grow on me, I didnt really like Jacob to begin with but after a while I actually used him a fair bit!

Jamse Vega, just like any other character in Mass Effect or any other game, is supposed to play the role in the story (and game in general) the writers and designers prepared for him. His point simply is to contribute to Mass Effect's universe with his fair share of dialogues, animations, combat moves, etc.

As for questioning and doubting whether his creation was a good idea in general, well, without further information about him, it is a question of trust in Bioware's abilities...

If somebody thinks that they were doing a good job so far, than he (she) shouldn't post premature complaints on such an unknown thing as new character in a future game. I mean it's not like implementation of a turn-based combat, where people can guess and asses potential consequences... It's too unknown and too unpredictable... But at least, such person should have his (her) trust in ME team, which he (she) has developed throughout playing older games and which has not been broken yet, right?

Of course, if somebody has been disappointed by some of the previous characters and his (her) trust has been already shattered, well, I guess he (she) is entitled to have doubts. Nevertheless, I would still find it more useful and much more respectable to post details (and reasons) about the character(s) that has dissappointed him (her) in the first place instead of criticizing the ones he (she) does not know.<_<

Um, we are? I hated Grunt. He's probably my most hated squadmate, period.

We don't know anything about James Vega, let it go. Not every squadmate was going to make a return to the squad in 3.

And yeah there were about 11 new squadmates in ME2, about 5 or 6 of which were completely uneccessary, Grunt being one of them.
