I couldn't care less about Omega in ME2.
It wasn't done right.
The station was huge like the citadel but the interior scope was more like that of a small village.
Where is the scope that we had with the citadel in ME1?
I want these massive space stations portrait right.I want the interiors to reflect the exteriors.
The citadel felt so small and insignificant in ME2 but everyone who played ME1 knows what the citadel really is and has actually seen its true scope. I want the wards, the presidium etc. back.
Yes, the Citadel with access to the Presidium in ME1 did provide a sense of scale that was sorely missing in ME 2 (which in general suffered missions taking place in confining interiors).
HOWEVER, as I am just now going back to play ME1 as a femshep, I have to say that absence does make the heart grow fonder. The Presidium is without a doubt impressively huge, BUT I was rather surprised by how tedious it became to traverse the space, especially in the "Scan the Keepers" mission. The rapid transit conduits helped, but I think there should have been more of them at every major intersection.
Maybe it's because I'm looking at the space as a gamer who has already had several playthroughs, so that initial sense of wonder in exploring the space is gone.
I'm thinking the trick for the game developers is to not give us too much downtime in exploring an exhaustively huge space without giving us something mission-specific to make use of that space, I want to spend more time doing something then counting how many steps I have to take to walk from C-Sec to the embassies.
To clarify with an example, think of the moment of ME 1 when Shepard and crew had to walk on the OUTSIDE of the Citadel Tower to get to the top. The combination of cut scenes and our view of the situation definitely provided a sense of scale, and having the mission to reach Saren at the top definitely raised the sense of urgency and "epicness."
Obviously not every mission can match those stakes, so the balance of creating the space and having something interesting to do in that large space will be quite tricky.
