The Captain gave me the card to the hot labs, I purged them and got the russian doctor to tell me that I can save the Rachni. After the purge you go back to the barricade and everyone is gone. You continue down to the main room and the Captain tells you, "I am sorry Commander, but Benezia gave us orders." At that point all of the guards turn on you and you do not recieve renegade points.
You find Hon Olar with an asari commando pointing a gun to his head and the volus says, "Am I going to even get a 'you know too much speach?'"
She says shut up. You kill all of them minus the volus.
Who then says, "Everytime this happens I am the only one who survives. I'd stay back if I were you."
I thought this was cool for two reasons.
1) I have had this game since launch and I keep finding new things.
2) You don't have to help those stupid chem weapons researchers.

Of course, if you help the researchers AND fight all of the guards then you gain even more XP.
My import playthroughs are lvl 60 before I start over ME1 for the final playthrough. That way I can play how I want to and not worry about XP.

Did anybody purge the hot labs before helping the doctor?

I've fought the captain and the rest of the guards, but never went and saw the volus afterward. Very cool find!
I'll have to check that out in my current me1 playthrough.
It's kinda sad/interesting in ME2 when you get an email from the volus if you talk to him in ME1.

For maximum XP, you can do the 'help the doctor' quest, and instead of sneaking into see Benezia, go down to the Hot Labs, then back to fight Ventralis.
Yeah, but if you 'help the doctor' you end up killing the asari comando in the quartine room. Isn't that the same one that's got a gun on the volus in what the op was talking about? I think so. Would defeat the whole point of what the OP is talking about.

HappyJoy is talking about maximising XP here. You get to do the doctor quest, kill the Asari and Ventralis and his posse.eternalnightmare13 wrote...
