What if tali or garrus die in ME2

So tali and garrus are squadmates in ME3 but what if one or even both of them die? I read somewhere bioware is going to try to reward the people who didnt let there squad die, yet at the same time not punish those that did let someone die. Do you think there is going to be different squadmates to replace them if they die? or do you think there will be a few squadmates just missing cause they died?

"Preparation for the suicide mission", that's the point. We were assembling the team and everything else for the purpouse of the getting through the Omega 4 Relay. Only that. It was never said "and you're also assembling the team to convince other races to save Earth after it gets attacked by the Reapers which will happen after you're done with the Suicide Mission". I'm all for consequences of choices, but this one would be just pushing it IMO. ME2 while part of the trilogy was also its own story.S.A.K wrote...
If they are dead no one should replace them. That just makes decisions in ME2 look cheaper. If dead squaddies are replaced, whats the point in all the preparation for the suicide mission? If someone was a bad Shepard he/she should have fewer squad mates.

"But I want that extra content!"
Well, then I guess you should just suck it up and save them all. Seems like I'm one of the very few on this forum that have the ability to simply ignore characters.

If someone died, you will get that different gaming experience.

@Someone With Mass: I'm okay with "let him/her just clean the dust sitting on Normandy" while said character doesn't mind melt with Shepard after almost every plot mission. But this is another story.

Try to see it in BWs point of view. Shepard gets replacements means BW has to model, code and voice act characters for every new replacement. They already cut the squad size to add more content to excisting squad mates so I don't think they'll spend the time to create new characters which most players won't even see.Jiso wrote...
realistically why wouldn't Shepard try to find replacements? I mean your facing the biggest threat the galaxy has ever known. Also not to mention if they was just gone and there was no replacement for them, everyone would all just keep playing the ending until its perfect, really taking away from everyone having a different gaming experience ME3

That.
It's just a big waste of time and money.

The only permanent squadmates are Ashley/Kaidan, James and Liara. Tali, Garrus and the others are all optional or temporary. If they died, they just won't be available.
I hope that's not the case, but the ME wiki indicates that Tali, Garrus and the one's you've mentioned all are said to return as full squad members. I'll be fairly satisfied with that lineup, but unfortunately I've never been really enamoured with any of the characters you recall being announced.

Sure, they might join you for the rest of the game after you've met them. I just meant to make clear that Ashley/Kaidan, James and Liara will be there, no matter what. The others might join up permanently or temporarily if they're still alive. I'm not expecting any twin brothers/sisters or magical resurrections.

Pretty much this and your other point.
I have faith that if Casey Hudson says a squadmate is dead they are dead, then that is what it will be and most likely just means they'll have no replacement.
With Tali and Garrus I don't think it is in same sort of scenario as Mordin on the Sur'kesh level, because Mordin hasn't been confirmed as a squadmate akin to how Garrus and Tali has. It makes sense for Mordin to head to Sur'Kesh to deal with the whole genophage debate that they are no doubt going to be having there after he found out (or maybe didn't) about Maelon attempts to fix it.
Garrus and Tali have pretty much nowhere else to be, unless the latter got put forward for the role of Admiral recently vacated by her Father.
As someone with 16 Sheps with only 2 of them having a full squad compliment at the end and 1 going to the extreme lengths of killing off all but 2 squadmates (a non loyal Zaeed and Kasumi), I am HOPING to be 'punished' in regards having less potential squadmate choices. Just as am expecting that things will be different for the ones whom will have replacements to fill in whatever fundamental roles they might've played in ME3, like Mordin who most likely will possibly have a replacement during that Sur'Kesh mission but possibly not so chatty with Shepard as Mordin will be and not as involved.

I can't stop laughing, it's just too good! If only we could mod that in-game, I'd talk to him and bring him on every mission just for close-ups of his face whenever he talks.marshalleck wrote...

Any way, I'd say we will get a new engineer and sniper if Garrus and Tail but died. Vega looks to be the sniper, so I take it we will get a new female engineer as well.

I'm pretty sure a dev said somewhere that letting people die in the suicide mission would leave you at a disadvantage for ME3 anyway.
