I don't understand why every single Pro-FemShep article has to tear down manShep and Mark Meer. Why does being pro-Hale have to make people so extremely anti-Meer?

To be fair, the article does give Meer a little credit, though it seems backhanded to me:

I just felt that Hale's voice acting was far better than Mark Meer's, as good as his work might have been.

I play manShep almost exclusively. I have one femShep, but that's because I really, really wanted to romance Kaidan. That said, I don't hate femShep and I love it when she gets support. I just don't see why femShep supporters can't extend manShep the same courtsey.

I wasn't aware maleShep needed support. I though things like ohhh lets say......NFL Playoff ads kinda overpowered everything we could ever do.

Some people actually think Hale is better. Stating this is not a crime, so long as it doesn't go into relentless bashing, which it didn't and even said it was good.  Which is coincidentally exactly how I feel about it.  Meer, is good but did not do the, IMO, great job Jennifer Hale did.  Plently of Meer fans have said ME is not his best work, but due to vocal direction.

Not my FemShep...she'll take your axe and biotically throw it back against your forehead...painful.

Oh, then afterwards, she'll do a little happy dance and shake her ass a lot.

I guess it's not so much that he needs more "support," but that militant femShep fans need to lay off of him. You can support femShep without tearing down manShep. Love for femShep does not have to equal hate for manShep.

True, thinking that Hale is the better voice actor isn't a crime, but stating that Mark Meer is better never ends well. I just wish that, at least once, an article could praise femShep and Jennifer Hale without rebuking manShep and Mark Meer.

You could state that Mark has more range (vorcha, campy bisexual elf in DA2) which I'd agree with.

Though I prefer Hale's Shepard.

Interesting, more people play FemShep than play Sheploo. I'm one of those people. 4 ManSheps, 2 FemSheps, 0 Sheploos.

There just aren't enough femsheps. Getting rid of femshep, while not practicle now, would have saved a lot of resources that could have been devoted to other characters.

About article: old news. FemShep is even promised for CE cover.
About femShep: my main playthrough summary is "stereotypical Hollywood blonde saves the Galaxy", so you may guess :)

Apparently, getting rid of Sheploos would have accomplished the same. Also, getting rid of the Engineer class.  And romances...most don't play them.

I'd be fine with that. Hell they'd probably be better off if they'd never had any classes for Shepard to begin with. Then they could have really defined some of Shepard's abilities and put more emphasis on the team-work aspect of combat in the games.

alas that's not the vision the Mass effect creators have for the series, and i for one am grateful for that.
i like being able to choose between male and female (i mainly play sheploo so i guess i'm in those measly 13%)
and i like having the different classes to choose from.

Yeah, they should like, limit Shepard to one class (Soldier) and one military background and everything.  It would be easier on the devs and allow them more freedom.  And only one LI...everyone must romance Ash no matter what.

You are genius!

No, but you're a sarcastic git.

The problem with the variability when it comes to Shepard and his background (and class) is that it dillutes the flavoring, so to speak.

In the end it means that Shepard's background is never really important, nor his class. By having two genders it also means a lot of redundant voice work needs to go into the game and a lot of characters need redundant development. We have to have two love interests for each Shepard in each game, which can derail certain characters.

If Shepard only had one gender, class, and background, then we could explore that one background more and have it show up in the storyline more often. Same with his class and skills. Since he'd only need two love interests, the other two characters would be allowed to develop fully in different ways without having to mirror the other two squadmates.

No, I'm not being sarcastic...you are a true visionary.  The ME devs should take a page out of your book.

Why am I being sarcastic?  Are you so insecure that you don't think anyone will agree with you?

I indulge in a lot of sarcasm myself so I know how to detect it. It's almost as refined as my gaydar.

Well, if you lack confidence in your opinion then that's not my problem.

I also want your gaydar...I bet it's great.
