I'd like an English squad member or someone with an accent other than American, but it would also be odd having my team mate sound more like me than my puppet Shepard.

(about to go off of my own topic but...)

not necassarily british, but any accent apart from american. the only characters i can thing of who arn't american are the quarian admiral, Zaeed, and Tali (not sure what her accent is but its not american)
surely the alliance represents all of earth?

*sigh* why do people always want to pick on Americans?

I don't think people are picking on americans, it's just that some people don't want every human squadmate to be american simply because it would be more realistic.

Kaidan is Canadian,  Ashley grew up all over on different colonies,  Miranda has an Australian accent,   Zaeed sounds British,  Jack has probably never even been to Earth, Kasumi is Japanese, only Jacob might be American.  When Shepard mentions the alliance ships lost in the battle of Citadel none of them are named after American cities.  In fact the only American thing  I can think of is Lady Liberty's head, so thanks alot.  Oh and Lady Liberty's head is in the posession of Donavon Hock who has a French accent.

We're not talking about ME2 we're talking about ME3. And Donovan Hock was south African. :wizard:

A couple of those were American, if I recall.

Which ones?

Nevermind, I checked, I'm wrong. Sorry.

My point being is that not everyone in this game sounds American,  I would argue that for the most part we are in the minority in this game.  And why don't people complain about them sounding Canadian?  Canadians sound similar to us and Bioware is Canadian

That would ruin the America in Space thing that games have been doing for years. :P

Zaeed Massani had an english accent and Miranda had an australian accent. :wizard: It's already been ruined.

Pfft, token characters to make the game appeal to English and Aussie gamers. Or, more seriously, a good point. I had errm, completely forgotten about them.  There was also Samesh Bahtia in ME1. *must play the games again*

That's miles off-topic though. Also hoping to see sniperguy in the game.

It's because most non North Americans have trouble telling american and canadian accents apart and end up thinking that they are american accents.

Fine by me (although dwarves, city elves, dalish elves (with the exception of Merrill who's Welsh), Orlesians, Antivans etc. don't have british accents).

But in a fantasy game, the devs can make the majority of characters speak with whatever accent they want and get away with it- it's fantasy. Mass Effect though is based on the real world, so it would make no sense to have one accent far commoner than the others when the Alliance represents every country on earth.

I have already mentioned several characters that don't sound American at all, and no even the aliens don't really sound American (except maybe the asari)

I thought he looked familier. Maybe if he was English Statham might sound like that.

Urrrm, Jason Statham IS English.

I know they're both C0<kny voices but Statham's is more raspy, while Nigel's is more gravelly.

I do hope he appears to give it to the Reapers Lahn-Dunn style though! Put on his whistle, kick them down the apples till they're covered in claret with a big smile on his chevy before blasting two desmond rounds into them followed by downing an aristotle at the nuclear sub. Lovely Jubbly.

I rather prefer British accent over American. Sometimes i have trouble understanding the latter and this is really annoying. No offense to any american but i simply cannot stand Larry King's way of speaking :P

Am I the only one who wants the Engineers to actually be voiced by a Scottish Voice Actor? Rather than the bad fake accents they were given in ME2? It made me cringe, and not just a Glaswegian accent either, I would like someone from Edinburgh or perhaps further North. I hate the Glaswegian accent.

Also, we need a Geordie in space. Just cause.

even from the ever so little bit of info we have I'd rather have Nigel over Vega ANY day of the week as a companion.

He looked at least as if he had a brain

No. No Welshmen in space, that would be worse than the Reapers! Besides, there are no sheep in space so why would a Welshmen go into space?

I'm sure that there was a Welshman on a futurama episode once.
