I did get this conversation, of course. But that wasn't enough for me. I do get that since the Kirkwall mages have all gone "crazy", people like Fenris won't have a complete change of heart only because they are doing a mage.
BW did a great job showing how the mages and the templars are stuck in a vicious circle of hate. How violence leads to more violence up to a point where Anders sees no hope and blows up the Chantry. Thus forcing the templars to defend themselves.
In this context it wouldn't make sense for Fenris to turn into a mage defender. But if he can admit that not all mages are evil, why not at least stop insulting the companions? Surely he knows them a little. Why not show some respect for the people his Hawke chose to trust. Unless he thinks Hawke is the only good mage in Kirkwall which is absurd.
I would have liked to confront him more about his blind hatred.
I'm not saying that he's a poorly written character because he doesn't change. Not at all. The whole game is about the companions having their opinions and own agenda no matter what Hawke thinks or does. Which often leads to terrible things. I like the pessimistic atmosphere of the game. Fenris's behavior makes sense.
It's just something that annoys me about the romance. I would have liked to see a tiny bit of doubt. Or maybe even disapproval of Meredith at the end. But nooo, Fenris supports the templars wanting to kill every mage in Kirkwall. How can he do this and not see it as a betrayal of Hawke?! If it's ok to kill all mages, that includes Hawke!
If he thinks Hawke is different, surely there must be other good mages!
Let's just say Fenris really pissed me off and that I would have liked the option to tell him so *g*

That's not strictly a romance conversation. You can have that one even if you're not romancing Fenris.

She'll betray you if you don't take Isabela into the Fade.
Desire demon affects: Isabela primarily. Aveline is affected if Isabela isn't in the party
Pride Demon affects: Merrill, Fenris, Varric. Merrill is affected primarily and overrules the other two, Fenris is affected if Merrill isn't in the party and he overrules Varric, and Varric is affected if the former two aren't in the party.
Sebastian won't go in to the Fade, and Justice will betray you if you side with Torpor.
Dog is unaffected.

Yes, last playthrough I lost Isabella and Merrill to the demon, so this time I took Varric, Aveline & Fenris and lost Aveline and Fenris. Fenris seemed genuinly sorry he abandoned me in there whereas Aveline acted like it was my fault for taking her in there in the first place...

Aveline has a deep distrust of magic. It is not as rabid as Fenris's, but it is definitely there. She tries to suppress her negative feelings toward anything magical when Hawke is involved, either because he is a mage or because he has asked her to interact with magical things or beings, but she is unable to eliminate it entirely.Macropodmum wrote...

Fenris's remorse depends on his friendship/rivalry status, which was well done, from a character consistency standpoint. If he is favorably inclined toward Hawke, he will be more forgiving. If he is Hawke's rival, he will blame Hawke. I've played it through both ways, and there is a difference.

That's Aveline in a nutshell. Even if you're total lawful good half of Hawke's chats with her in the Barracks have her starting crap for no reason. If I didn't see the darkspawn surprise attack Wesley with my own two eyes, I'd think it was really an elaborate suicide to get the hell away from her. I am so sorry for Donnic.

I wanted an option to side with the Qunari in the end of Act to, like giving him Izzy with the Tome of Koslun and saying "Hey, I want to subvert to the Qun. I have enough of this place, I wanna get out of here.".
If you're a mage, there's always tranquility. Plenty of ways out there to destroy your free will. $$$

Fenris: Is the Circle here truly so terrible an option?
Bethany: Do you really have to ask that?
Fenris: You would be kept safe from others as well as yourself, and they would be kept safe from you.
Hawke: (Drawing her Sword), That depends. How much longer do you want to test that 'luck' of yours Fenris??

Meredith: Even if I wanted to, I could not stay my hand. The people will demand blood!
Hawk: The people? You are the most powerful person in all of Kirkwall. Are you so weak and inept as to allow "the people" to become a raving bloodthirsty mob and dictate demands to a knight-commander templar? "The people" do not know **** about anything. And since when the hell do you care about "the people"? Ever since Viscount Dumar died, you have prevented "the people" of Kirkwall from electing a new Viscount! As a templar, you have consistently violated Chantry law by taking and holding secular title and power. You have allowed the templars under your command to murder any "people" who so much as provide food to a hungry mage. Your templars ignored the pleas of one apostate mage who pleaded for the templars and chantry to help the orphan children under her care. Just now, the Chantry has exploded, and instead of sending your templars to provide aid to any "people" who may have been affected, you have illegally invoked the Right of Annullment without Chantry permission and are sending your templars away from "the people". You don't give a Maker-damn about any of the people!
slight correction:
It wasn't illegal. Gaider said that after the bomb, she had the authority to do so. Thus, it was legal. Immoral definitely, but not illegal.
I know. And I think Gaider would say anything to stick it to the "sided with mages by default" people.

I was kind of disappointed FemHawke romancing Anders couldn't make the terrible pun when Anders was going on about wanting another cat. C'mon, let's put that M for Mature to more use than having bandits explode like your arrows are grenades.

Anders: How can you say that?
Hawke: So becoming an abomination is the smart thing to do? Figures you'd say that.
Anders: That's not what I--
Hawke: Anders, it doesn't matter what you meant. You were here when we found out that the Keeper poisoned Merrill's standing with the clan, then had the audacity to ask her to come back like nothing bad would happen! You were here when we found out Merrill cleansed a tainted shard of the Eluvian! By the fact that no one in the Alienage, Merrill especially, has contracted the Blight then it must be true! You just heard Merrill say that only powerful magic could've freed the demon, and Marethari's the one who cast that spell! And you want to point the finger at Merrill?
Anders: She trusted a demon! You're trusting a blood mage!
Hawke: Oh go **** yourself with a cactus! I've trusted an abomination not to do anything to me, my friends, and the people of Kirkwall for six years! You're hardly one to play the trust card when your situation is much worse and less deserving of trust, you pompous ass!
