Though I think that extends to Shepard in general, the CC needs more options. It's kinda difficult when you have so few and half are deformed.

I don't find some of the shepards asteticaly pleasing either - personal tastes and all, but do you see me bashing them?  if this were actualy an art class with requested critique, you'd have a leg to stand on.  but this thread is supposed to be fans celebrating one of their favorite characters and his/her various incarnations.  not to mention crituque given by art instructors is usualy constructive rather then plain insulting.

One could try to be nice about it/somewhat objective as I was in commenting on this kerfuffle, but it's a game forum - I wouldn't expect most comments to be equivalent to a professional critique. It seems to me that they were being somewhat tongue-in-cheek and poking fun at the character, rather than the person. *shrug*

Then presumably I ought to have posted in the FemShep thread.  It couldn't have been that I saw ipgd's post on a status update and made what you describe as a "random comment."  That would be a completely unbelievable sequence of events.  

In any case, since people seem to want more constructive criticism, the gene comment was crude - I'm not going to attempt to claim that it wasn't, as I maintain my position in this thread has been honest - but it was meant to imply that to me it appeared as if her facial proportions are so off as to imply a genetic condition. 

If this "condition" as such is intended, then I have no constructive criticism to offer.  If this is not intended, then said constructive criticism would be to check the positions of the facial features relative to each other, starting with but not limited to decreasing the size of the forehead, decreasing the distance between the eyes, lowering the nose and mouth, giving the nose more depth and moving the eye sockets back into the skull.  Broadly, it looks like her features are squished into a head too big for her face.  Having a few features "off" (for the lack of a better word, "off" is not necessarily bad or wrong) to give a character, well, character is of course perfectly fine.  The issue I have is that when taken together they can become painfully hard to ignore.  These changes - or fixes, depending on your perspective - are all possible in the Mass Effect character creator.

On the greater issue of Commander Shepard and custom Shepards, getting these things right can be difficult - which is why I've tried to drum up support for a Black Emporium type-mirror.  Given that the Shepard in question looks similar to the user's Hawke and Warden, I doubt this was the issue in her case, however.  

But that's a -lot- of words which would necessarily establish a level of interest in discussing the subject of Chignon's Shepard when all I wanted to make was a "random comment."  Finally, as loathe as I am to make promises as to how I'm done with a topic in a thread - they're always a pain to self-enforce - I'm not going to contribute further to the sidetrack that I started.  PMs are fine, this post is meant to firmly establish my position as neither attention seeking nor particular clique-trolling, but as a crude joke based on an honest position.

Ah, a new term - the things you learn. The forums being what they are, I think one pretty much does have to be able to put up with wisecracks, etc. If someone has such a thin skin that they can't deal with ribbing/criticism, well, put the user(s) on block? If you think it was legitimately hateful, then report it, but based on what went on, it doesn't seem like all that much more than pointed ribbing. *shrug*

Thanks. This Shepard was brought to life by local ads which suggested that "you may play for battle hardened space marine as well as for glamorous blonde", which gave me an idea to go and check if character would have another dialogue for barbie-like Shepard which suddenly is an expert in melee. They didn't, but it ends that I liked the choices made on this playthrough more than on others, so... this became main playthrough, absolutely unexpected so.
