i dont understand the hate for the blonde femshep. are they really judging people so much on appearance that suddenly because she has blonde hair she's no longer a strong independent badass woman? seems ridiculous to me honestly.

if i played femshep (i dont mainly cus im a guy and playing a girl makes immersion into the story really difficult) i'd totally use the new default femshep face. i use sheploo because it looks good and i cant make a good face to save my life lol.

if you like the new femshep face then awesome, if you dont then just make a custom shepard, is no different than people not using sheploo and making a custom shepard instead.

Though I am confident that BioWare had the best of intentions, it is kind of eye roll inducing that they chose to promote a strong female character by holding a beauty contest.  In fact I would bet that they don’t even see it that way and the contest evolved naturally from the Twitter vote on hair and eye color. That said, the “beauty contest” is affording femshep fans (of all people) a chance to actually influence the game in a way that’s never been done before.  In that respect it’s great and ultimately a win/win situation.  BioWare gets people talking about femShep and ME3 and femShep fans get a trailer and a femShep on the CE of the game.  While I note some of the more civil concerns, I personally am very grateful to BW for promoting femShep, something that is long overdue.

As far as all the bickering over BlondeShep, if the old saying is true, “there’s no such thing as bad press” then this marketing ploy has worked better than anyone could have imagined.  I can’t tell you how many articles, posts and tweets I have read on this subject and no matter which side is taken, all discussions lead to the promotion of Mass Effect 3.

Anyone else hoping that we can change the new Femshep's haircolour atleast? And perhaps also the eyes.

I think Penny Arcade's comic sums it up pretty nicely.

Hair, eye, and skin color have nothing to do with what a person is or is not capable of doing. She is just like Sheploo to me. Both of them look great but they are not the Shepard(s) I play. The ONLY reason I do not have a blonde Shepard already is because I never thought the blonde color in ME1 or in ME2 looked believable. I picked black hair for my main to hide the hair helmet we get.

I actually voted for the blonde one(No 5). As I said she looks too young in that pic. Maybe they will make her look a bit more mature in game.

About this thread:
I was surpised to find fan support and fan threads for every main character in ME series and there was no fan thread to commander shepard. The only fan thread for shepard is in ME2 section and it is to support femshep. So this thread is made to support commander shepard in any form (male/female or custom/default). show some love to our hero who has been with us for many years!
Suggested discussion topics:
 • Shepard re-design at the start of ME3(Will we get to edit imported shepards)
 • How will the LI deal end(Marriage and that sort of thing)
 • Will Shepard live through the ME3 ending(Happy ending or heroic sacrifice)
 • The new femshep and what about the old femshep.
 • Male shepards new look(Why he looks older and worn out)
 • New cover mechanic and animations.
 • Emotional story.
Things we want to see:

Both male and female voice acting is good. They both have their better moments but they should be treated equally.
Support better animations and emotions in ME3.

Some ME3 femshep images should be released.

Totally with you on this matter.  When Bioware
announced that the female Shepard would get more recognition, I was over the
moon only to come crashing down with a mighty bang.  Hated the new marketing makeover poll of 5
baby shep’s with all my heart.   The previous default characters have without a
doubt grown on us after two instalments, so why change them.  Improvements yes, total change NO. I
absolutely adore Jennifer Hale’s voice. Perfect for my Shepard.  You have my full support.  Long live the default Shepards.

God, I hope I can use my Shepard in ME3.  Hate to stop playing Mass Effect.

I hate, hate hate hate hate... the faceless expresions in romances and love dialogues. Is he/she supposed to be in love or something? because practically, he/she doesn´t show that. When Shepard is talking with Tali is a pain in the ass, the girl is melting inside her suit and the idiot merely manages to make a smile (creepy one).

All the characters show incredible faces and emotions, yet our hero is a rock who seems to only want to get laid.

@Suggested Topics:

I really look forward to seeing what my Shepard will look like in ME3. Seeing an upgrade on the hair will be a plus. We already have great looking armor, skin, eyes, etc but I want to see some movement when it comes to the hair styles. Nothing major just enough to know its hair and not a brick on Shepard's head. I'm guessing the hair style we see on #5 FemShep is the upgraded hair for the 'classy' hair. (See avatar picture)

As for the LI: Zody Shepard's LI is Kaidan. (Please no bashing, I've heard them all already anyways) Marriage? Kids? A little dog named Rex? I kind of doubt it. With both of them as Spectres I don't think there is going to be a domestic life in their near future. I don't see either of them as the type to wait at home with the kids while the other saves the galaxy yet again. Maybe in 5-15 years, but not right after they give the Reapers the boot in the ass.

Ending? It depends, nothing would make me happier than a happily ever after. But that might not be an option. I'm pretty set with the choices I made in ME1 & 2. If she is going to pay for it, then that is just how its going to be. I see Zody as the type of uber paragon that will always put the will being of others before her own. So if there is a choice to die to save more people, she'll probably take it. Sad, and it will suck to have to watch but that's how I've always played her.

New Shep or old? I don't care I don't play either one.

Shep should look more tired and worn out in ME3, s/he really does have the weight of an entire galaxy on his/her shoulder.

Please, please, please Bioware go back to the walking animations of ME1 or at least something similar. ME2 walk looked weird on both male and female Shep.

Emotional story: I expect to have a box of tissues with me while playing ME3. But what I want to see is Shepard reacting to the the events too. We seen Shep smirk and smile a lot in ME2 but I want to see Shepard with a wider ranger of emotions. I want to see her yell, get pissed, be disguised, get sad and upset, etc. What I don't want to see is her weep or sob not unless its something really bad.

I hate blondie femShep because she looks like every generic custom FemShep. They could've at least went with something new.

Like give fans a contest to see which they like best?

Pretty sure they're the only devs who've done that...

Nope, some projects have done it before. For example, Mega Man Legends 3 was built all around it. It failed.

What's wrong with being compared to Barbie? Barbie's 52 years old and looks fabulous. She has Ken following her around like a puppy dog, has tons of careers that she excels at, and has a wardrobe to die for. Barbie has been in all four branches of the US military, been to almost every country on the globe, and has owned plenty of homes, cars and other property. All while maintaining a pert figure and showcasing her glorious hair and sparkling jewelry. We should all accomplish as much as Barbie has. :D Seriously, people need to get away with all the femininity bashing. Femininity does not equal weakness. Far from it! ;)

Kind of agree, David. The whole thing makes me giggle. Well, maybe not the contest, but the reaction and love being shown to the blond Shepard. Especially the Penny Arcade comic strip that people use to support that it’s okay for a strong woman to look like that! It’s only funny to me because when Ashley’s new look was revealed, if only I had a nickel for every time the word “bimbo” was used. If it weren't so ironic....

Yeah, I know what you mean. I liked some of the new ones, especially the first one. They just look too young, imo. Though, they are just concepts as far as I know. They can be made older looking. I was hoping they would just take the default and tweak her since she is what we’ve had since the beginning.

The difference between Sheploo and the new blond Femshep is the latter looks nothing like a soldier, not to mention she apparently has an hour+ each day to spend on her appearance. It'd be nice to have a tougher looking femshep (a mean look isn't enough) that isn't dolled up.  But thats what the character creator is for, so I don't really have anything to complain about.

you mean the same guy who models underware etc for a living?

or are you implying that female soldiers cannot also be pretty?  (incidentaly the femshep that won, though not a personal favorite - has one of the more tousled hairstyles - something you can imagine her just running hands through in the morning and leaving it at that.)

Both Sheploo and the blond Femshep are a bit too pretty for my tastes (at least for special forces soldiers), but thats not my gripe with her.  The hairstyle and makeup are just about the opposite of what a soldier should look like.  Sheploo has no makeup and a shaved head/face (though he does have a slight amount of stubble), meanwhile femshep has toused hair in her face and quite obvious makeup.  It looks very unprofessional for a soldier.

I'm certainly not saying that all women in the militia are attractive -- or the polar opposite. Just that there are enough attractive women in the militia that default femShep choosing to put on eye liner (the extent of her make up, seemingly) shouldn't be that disturbing/distracting.

But thats what the character creator is for, so I don't really have anything to complain about.

Shepard isn't a soldier anymore. Shepard is a Spectre. Which means, he/she can wear whatever the hell he/she wants.

That doesn't contradict my argument.  Notice how none of them have thick eyeliner on, or how they all have their hair tied back?  Sheploo is definitely a pretty boy, but even so he maintains a professional appearance.  Blond Femshep looks like shes ready to go to a party, not to war.

Sex sells-- well what do you want us to say? We can argue all day over the morality and ethics of discrimination, the standards and outlooks on western standards of beauty, and the validity/invalidity of hygiene. But it doesn't change that fact (historically proven) that attractive people sell extremely well.

BlondeShep putting eye liner on is hardly downplaying her abilities as a combatant and diplomat. She's not wearing a midrift revealing suit with a thong pulled up. She doesn't have giant breasts. It doesn't even look like she's got lipstick on.
:)
