She looks awful. I'm sorry guys, I think she's cool and all, but I expected much better work from Patryk. The angles he used, the lighting, the color palette, and the face...my god, the face is...awful.

I think its safe to assume that BW hasn't even done a 3D rendition of her, or they'd just have given the artist that to see what he wanted to do with it.

The difference in quality from, say, this...



is...just astounding.

As an artist, I find this picture wonderfully done. The mix of reds and blues play off each other very well. The sense of movement also is great. She is bent down on one knee and is standing up. You get this feeling that when she makes it to her feet you are so screwed. It takes talent to have someone wearing armor and still see the tension in their limps like they are about to spring into action. I love that lip curl too, I can almost hear her growl. And those green eyes. Wow, just wow. THIS is the reason Patryk works at Bioware now.

i prefer the pose to the pose above. female heroes are often given poses that are much more passive than their male counterparts, so femshep poses where she looks ready to kill someone are thumbs up in my book.

but her eyes - she looks possessed. actually, she looks totally like the bloodmages in da2 just before they go and attack you.

love the armor though. just not thrilled with the eyes.

I'm not too happy with the face.  I do like the pose, the colors, and everything else, but her features are just in strange places relative to each other and her eyes look a bit wonky.  Still, whatevs.

I'd say her eyes are a tad too small and the nose is a little disfigured, but still a great picture overall, all things considered. I hope they release a high res of the full-body version! I want to admire the little details. x3

I agree with you. In the new pic she looks like she's gone days without sleep, the face looks squished and as if her face has gained a little fat. compared to the picture in the post ehre it's way below what Ive seen from him.

I support part of your arguments, @100k but in this case, about the above drawing , I am with @sage.

For something that was rushed in three days vs. the stuff he had extra time to work with in the past, the new femshep looks awesome.

My theory is that he had very little time to work on the face. her armor and pose looks wonderfully polished, but the face looks rushed. he still caught this great expression of exhaustion coupled with determination, but the facial features and general details are a bit off... when compared to his other work, I really think that what happened is that he had plenty of time to work on the most of the picture, but he didn't know which face/hair to paint until after all the voting was done.. given more time, I'm sure it would look as fantastic as the rest of his work

 The thing is, I first noticed this downgrade in quality when the Legion picture came out. Once again, I know that he can't spend two weeks on a single piece anymore -- but then he should be showing off concept art n stuff (which I'm sure he's done), and have larger projects that he could dish out monthly, like the Mordin, Zaeed, Jack pics. Hell, it would be great promotional content!

Another example in difference of quality.

Sorry but, how is 30 supposed to look? Looks hardly tell the age unless we're talking elderly and even then there are some cases where looks don't match the age.

I never liked the new default femshep face, it looks too "porcelain dollish". They should have stuck with good ol' default Jane's face with texture improvements, imho.





I really like the new hairstyles though. I hope they are available for custom femsheps.

Unfortunately, I agree about the face.  She looks like a twisted anime character.  I hate anime.  (the style, anyway).  Everything else looks great and I am ecstatic that femShep is getting the attention that's been long overdue.  So, yeah, I’m a bit disappointed in an art piece that I didn’t even know was going to be produced.  Not really a big deal in the grand scheme of it all as the rest is fantastic. 

Now, where’s the goddamned trailer?!
