I actually kinda hate Commander Shepard. Only other character that makes me facepalm myself that much is Jacob Failure.

I'm probably the only one who thinks this, but the guns look way cooler when they're only semi unfolded. Take Locust, for example; right here it looks like a super powerful and bad ass SMG. It's fairly simple in design, which gives it a sense of realism and functionality. But then the entire thing unfolds and it looks a tad silly. Same with the Avenger AR.

Not just pink, baby-blue too.

First time I played ME2 I did pink armor as a joke. Then when I was seriously designing my armor, I truly felt I liked that color best on my Shepard, and have yet to change it. (Femsheps have been different though)




All armor, other than 'visor and Capacitor Chestplate, is Kestrel.

I have taken on my in game persona to a new level with my renegade shep. It kinda takes over you, I even abused a guy who honked his horn at me this morning..

I'm generally not an angry person

Now Im not blaming the game, I do have a nasty hang over this morning..

Back on topic regarding dudes in pink armor, Im starting to think now it makes them look even more baddass just because they can get away with it.

I liked the picture! I know what you mean by making something as a joke, but it ends up being something to be attached to. I had a similar experience with a couple of my Sheps, that they just owned the color/armor design they wore and it wouldn't be the same otherwise.

But if you didn't get that DLC in Mass Effect 1.The fact that Admiral Hackett considers Commander Shepard to be the best soldier suited to take out the Geth Outpost in the Attican Traverse.And deal with the Rogue AI on Luna, and other things.Speaks volumes.The fact that Shepard survived on Akuze while the majority of his or her fellow marines were taken out.Says much...

But actually... Shepard isn't a soldier.He is an officer.An XO to be exact.Which is an Executive officer. He was the XO of the Normandy SR 1.Then became (the unofficial) Captain of said vessel.And as a Spectre, he is a Field Agent.

Furthermore as the Illusive Man put it:

"Your unique...Not just in ability or in what you've expeirenced.But in what you represent.You stood for humanity at a key moment.Your more than a soldier. And I don't know if the Reapers understand fear, but you killed one of them.They have to respect that..."

I'm not trying to spam this thread, but something I wrote about Jacob fits this accusation:

It has been said that:

How is it that Kaidan and Ashley meet these qualifications.But someone as accomplished as  Jacob Taylor is.Is not considered a canidate for Spectre Status?!

He and Ash both survived the attack on Eden Prime.But Jacob didn't need Commander Shepard to save his ass! Like Ashley did.What has either Kaidan or Ashley even done, apart from Shepard's command and direction?

Jacob was the main protagonist of Mass Effect Galaxy:

And he saved the Citadel Council from a horrific

bioterrorism attack.

When Jacob was aboard the passenger liner Arcturian Jade.He took out the batarian attackers and saved the crew and passengers.Kai & Ash for
all we know have not even done something like that.

Jacob Taylor is Spectre material...

Wow, so... You have a problem with the fact that BioWare made Shepard as much like a real human being as possible? Having the compacity to acheive greatness or be medicore? What are these "embarassingly stupid" moments you speak of? Are you talking about stuff like the fiasco on Horizon.And Shep's bad dancing with the Asari during Samara's Loyalty Mission? "Shepard Dance Fail"

Other than that.I'm drawing up a blank.

You say that you would change alot of things about Shep.Which is it? You wish for Shepard to become what? More god-like or down to earth...

I sware... What the hell is up with all the Shep hate, I've been seeing around the internet lately!?! <_<

It's like i said: HE'S LUCK AND HE HAS A GOOD SHOOT. He become an Commander for his action on Akuze/Skylliam. He didn't became a captain, and this says a lot. He become a spectre because he' s a friend of Anderson. I don't say that he didn't deserve to became a spectre, but other N7 deserve more than shepard and do you know why? Because he isn't so smart and he isn't a good tactical. Maybe in ME3 he will be, but now he isn't the best soldier in the galaxy, much less the best officer, but he is the most famous.
ATTENTION, I don't want to say that he isn't a good character, he is one of my favourite.

Anyway.  My Shepard sure as hell isn't the best soldier in the galaxy.  She's got skill, she's got notoriety, and she's good at her job, but "best"?  Hell, no.

The best [most skilled and experienced] fighters in the galaxy in my opinion are Nihilus, Saren, Wrex, and Zaeed. Shepard comes in after them -- but has better innovative skills, youth, and charisma.

I'm not afraid to admit that my Shepard's aren't perfect.

I'd love to take you up on the thing about Jacob whereever you posted that. Not here though.

It's good that Shepard is "human" and makes mistakes, Shepard dance fail is totally acceptable, but many of the other mistakes he makes just baffle me considering what he is: the galaxy's best soldier.

An experienced fighter like him should be looking out for a sniper on the Derelict Reaper, he had just seen two husks get sniped in front of his eyes only moments ago. He completely missed the geth on a platform right in front of him. Oh yeah, and walking into a room where an Eclipse merc is hiding behind a desk, not even looking around the room passed the threshold of the doorway (on a mission where, he's actually looking for information which is somewhere in the warehouse). I mean, a damn 2 year old would walk into that room and find her (or any human-being capable of walking, for that matter).

Also have issues with the dialogue, when sometimes he says things in ways that make him sound completely dense. I feel like a guy like him should sound like someone who has a handle on most situations he's in, but the dialogue tends to be something you'd expect to hear if you put a civilian in his place. It's one of the things that annoys me about Harry Potter, being stunned by everything he sees. Maybe for the first two years, but year 3 and 4 he's still acting like he's seeing magic for the first time.

I would change it so that, if the player doesn't get what's going on, Shepard will ask "Well wait, I know blah-blah-blah from experience, so this must be going on right now. Right?" "- Right Shepard, and also this-this-this."

Really, I'm just a very meticulous individual. I get very hung up on small things. My room has to be completely tidy before I study in it. I'm a hardcore football fan but I can't play Madden because of things like a player's hair not being correct. So Shepard bugs me a lot. I love the moments where he's awesome, loathe the moments where he's derp.

And to try to pass off all that Shepard accomplishes in just Mass Effect 1 alone.Off as nothing more than "luck' is pretty damn insulting <_<

Shepard Commander is one of the bravest people that I have ever seen.For him: Failure is not an option.He is tenacious, persistent, unrelenting, and other things could be said - about the qualities that Shep has that makes him so good at "Doing... Whatever it is.He does." As Shiala puts it

No... You dreamt that. Shepard Commander is acknowledged by all the other warriors in attendence as
"the King of Pinnacle Station" :innocent:

The wonderful thing about what BioWare did with ME.Is that yes - everyone's Shepard is different:

What I meant about Shep having the potential in the Mass effect universe of being able to either be "Mediocre" or "Extrodinary" is this:

The Medicore Shepard (imho) Is if the player decides to virtually ignore all the side missions.Tell Admiral Hackett to get someone else to render assistence to the Alliance.And just does very little, other than the primary quest.

The Extrodinary Shepard: Essentially leaves no stone unturned.It is like Shiala says to Shepard in ME 2: "You took the harder path."

He or she, helps the Alliance, Strangers on the Citadel, Hunts down Cerberus, Completes the DLC and of course, defeats the geth, Saren and Soveriegn...My Shepard is the latter, not the former...
