I've read somewhere that changing the player's appearance to that of another creature can cause bugs for movement. Does anyone have any information on this?

Does it only happen you set the appearance to that of a non-playable race? Are Human to Elf or Drow appearance changes "safe"?

Thanks in advance!

Not every creature model has the full range of animations available to playable races. For instance, creatures that use the 'dog-leg' skeleton (lizardmen, kobolds, etc) don't have a crossbow animation, so if you give them a crossbow they will just make the default claw-swipe attack animation instead. That's no doubt why weapon/item usage is disabled when polymorphed.

Skeletons (the creature type) are a safe appearance type though, since their model uses the same animation set as playable races. Hence why you can make them dance, play instruments, etc.

Not sure about bugs for movement. I have the PC "become" an animal for a while, and I've encountered no problems.

It unsets the value for player speed, which is faster than regular creatures. Just change player speed to match regular creatures and problem goes away. ( speed is stored on the appearance )

think it's creaturespeed.2da or something like that.

That's a very good suggestion Pain, and exactly the issue I was worried about!
ChaosWielder, you haven't noticed people becoming slower afterwards? Maybe you have an unintentional fix for it???

Is it possible to reset the speed to player normal? (I'm guessing not - but maybe someone fixed it?)

No fix for it, my solution sidesteps the problem.

Speed is stored with the appearance, and anytime the players appearance changes they get set to whatever speed that appearance has, then you set them back to normal and they get the speed attached to their normal appearance. There is no way to apply the correct speed setting after you set them, without adjusting the players bic.

Besides i did not like the fact players could outrun anything. This makes it so even when it's messed up no one will notice.

Then that's what we'll do!
Setting normal creature speed to PC speed works as well right?

Alright so what happens if the player exits while his appearance is still changed? He will be stuck with it then correct?
Saving the original appearance in the database and resetting it doesn't cause any problems?

Thanks for the help!

Yes he is stuck.

Compare appearance to the appearance for the subrace, if it's not matching reset it, this works unless you had out custom appearances.
