Not able to compose new blog entries

My profile seems to be missing the ability to compose new blog entries. I have no blog tab and when I go to content>blogs all I get is the search entries for box and blog subscriptions box but no compose new entry button. Any suggestions?

You must wait 7 days from creating your account before you can post a blog entry. After that time a "Compose New Entry" button will appear the top of the Browse Blogs page. This restriction was added to help prevent the blogs from being spammed.
