I was wondering if there is anyway to login to a server as admin. Been looking for a while now and I've yet to find anything that actually says how it's done, assuming that it can be done. I need to use it to enable DebugMode so I can remove a bugged out Commander Tann from my party, of course if there is another way to remove him that would work too.

You just use the admin password and you are in as a admin.

I would put in scripting and such that knows your CD Key.

Use the password where exactly? When you login to the server? If so I've tried that and it just says the password is incorrect.

Yes, i used to do it a long long time ago. Probably need to find someone who is using it at this point. ( I am trying to answer but have not even done this for a few years, i just go in as a regular DM or player and have custom scripts that give me full control regardless of how i am logged in )

My recollection is that DMs can use runscript commands ("rs <name_of_script>") without enabling DebugMode. You could just write a script to do what you need it to do and then upload it to the server. I don't know whether this is something that's worth bringing the server down for, but you could add it during a regularly scheduled reset.

Chat commands work better anyway. ( you can target things on the other side of the server via a tell for example )

I suppose it should probably be said that this is not a public server, it's one I'm running for a friend and myself. As such my knowledge of running a NWN2 server is pretty non existent, kind of learning as I go when it's necessary. Needless to say I've no idea how to write scripts or upload them.

Just use the dm password, the admin password is not really needed.

I think you might want to describe what it is you actually want to do in fact, as i don't think there is much need for a password if you just use the regular game to host things.

Use the DM password with the normal client? Or the DM client? I've tried the password with the normal client and I just get Incorrect Password. Obviously with the DM client it works fine but I haven't seen a way to use the DM client to fix the issue which is Commander Tann bugged out and stuck in the party. He's only suppose to join temporarily and once you finish a quest for him he's suppose to leave. As it is though he still shows in the party and he follows me around, in fact he will only spawn if I'm in the game (like if my friend enters the world before I do he won't be there until I get in). I tried to get rid of him as a DM using the Delete Object Permanently command, which does get rid of him temporarily but it leaves a blank portrait in the party and as soon as we start the game again he's back. Is there a command I can use as a DM to remove party members? The only thing I was able to find on getting rid of Commander Tann is using DebugMode but then that was the only thing I was actually able to find.

Also thank you for trying to help me out. :)

I would suggest using Debug mode, and perhaps using a custom script, or one that comes with the game to solve your issue. I imagine there is a way to do that using debug mode, and adjusting the roster, but i'd have to know a lot more details and tear apart the module to find it.

Ideally such a fix could just be added to something like the OC makeover which prevents it from being an issue to begin with.

Using some google fu, i found this

So, I've done a search on Tann and that's what I've found out. The problem is clearly a bug, and it seems it hasn't been fixed with the second version of the patch, even if it's a very obvious bug. More people has had the same problem, Tann doesn't join the party and so on...

There's a solution, it's not a total solution, but it helps. I'll write it here so everybody can read it.

- When you defeat the dark priest and his minions, talk to Commander Tann. He won't join yor party, but he will talk to you and tell you about his lost companions.

- Open the console by hitting `

- Write EXACTLY DebugMode 1 and press enter

- Write partyadd 5982 (where 5982 is the creature code for Commander Tann).

- Write DebugMode 0 and press enter, then press again ` to close the console. Commander Tann will have joined your party, but he won't follow you. It doesn't matter, because when you talk to his companions, he will talk to them as well, even if he's not really there. When you find the three of them, he will follow you, but you won't be able to use him either. He is a bit annoying, because he runs a lot and he attacks everything he sees.

- Leave the graveyard. When you arrive to the fort, you will be encountered by Vallis and two soldiers. Defeat them. Tann will then run to the fort. This is the moment for him to leave your party. You have to do again what you did with the console, but write partyremove instead of partyadd. Once you have done all this, you will receive experience points and some gold. Tann is again the commander of the fort.

You can check this link as well, but beware, it's full of spoilers:
Neverwinter Nights: Commander Tann - The Slacker

I was really enjoying the game, but this bug has spoiled a bit that feeling. I just hope I don't find more things like this in the game.
Thanks a lot for your help guys

I think to remove it would be something like ( this is assuming you are doing the debug console as above, this is just the same instructions as i quoted above but i changed partyadd to partyremove )

~
debugmode 1
partyremove 5982
debugmode 0

Which is all guess work based on googling, but it reverses the quoted instructions. Not sure if 5982 is always how you refer to him either, but might work for you. Reading the above more closely, it actually tells you to do this at a certain point.

That's the solution I found, problem is DebugMode can't be used unless you're logged in as the Admin. Even when I'm on as the DM it won't let me.

Edit - The problem seems to have sorted itself out once I got to Neverwinter. Thank you for taking the time to try and help me :)

Hello all,

I have quite peculiar problem with entering the module as an Admin - I tried to set the Admin password through the running nwn2server.exe GUI, nwn2player.ini, nwnx.ini and some NWNX function that allow to set a password for admin user. Each time the password is correctly (?) displayed in nwn2server.exe GUI but when I try to enter the server using this password it tells me that it is not correct and I cannot join the serwer. Player (no password) and DM (with different password) logins are working correctly.

What am I doing wrong? What can I do to fix this issue? Hope someone run into similar problem and managed to fix it.
