You'd have to take the mage class if you want to use magic, but the arcane warrior specialization might be something you'd like.

Any character can use any type of equipment (some unique enchanted items may have class restrictions) so long as you have enough strength. That means you can play a mage and equip plate armor and a greatsword, but it'll take a lot of investment in strength, which means less in the magic-important stats.
Alternatively, the Arcane Warrior specializations can replace their strength stat with their magic stat for purposes of equipment and, with a toggled ability, can use their magic stat to determine damage and attack as well.

^ <----- what he said. And you can spec in two specialty classes by endgame, so you could also be a templar which has magic.

What? You're wrong. You can only get specializations from your own class. Templar is a warrior specialization, mages cant be templars.
