They did in fact, but due to a socio-religious movement (much like the feminist movement on earth, but much more rooted and militant) the last male asari died out in 1321 BCE.

Edit: In fact I recall seeing some archive material of him in the latest version of the 'Ashley/Kaidan must be bi' thread in this very forum.

As for the organs bit... I always assumed it looked more or less human, but blue.

If asari reproduction doesn't work anything like human (or mammals in general) they wouldn't have funny bumps mammaries or navels...so it's pretty safe to assume they have organs similiar in function or form:alien:

They still give birth, so a navel and breasts still make sense. They simply don't concieve in the same way humans do, which is where the differences would lie.

The reality is that they're like the green women from Star Trek. Yes there are some technical differences but they have all of the "features" enabling Captain Kirk to sleep with them and them both to enjoy it.

They only have slightly less decorum, and will mind meld with prominent human Spectres at the drop of the proverbial military beret.

Truth. (Unfortunately.) Their biology is already trolling science about as hard as it's possible to, anyway.

Yes, but Sci-Fi doesn't need to be accurate.
Or we would have millions of Liara clones. That's how the reproduction of an all-female race on earth works.
And I think some people will start screaming now. ^_^

I think they would be more gender neutral if that were the case, if their child doesn't inherit anything from the "father" one would think being aesthetically pleasing to each other wouldn't be necessary, unless of course they at one point did reproduce more...conventionally? and the breasts and etc are leftovers like our appendix.

News flash: Breasts don't exist to titillate males. They have a function. Asari mothers presumably suckle their young like other mammals. Why would asari look "gender neutral"? They're female.

Asari have human reproductive organs and they keep them pickled in large glass jars.

Actually there was a study done and there is a theory that human breasts do exist to attract males. It had to do with them being the largest of all primates and stuff like that

Oh yes, they develop that vocal tonality during the aforementioned pupae stage. It's amazing what they came up with through genetic engineering after that last unfortunate asari male died off...

yes and no, I think. While it's probably very similar, the way that they reproduce makes it unlikely that they have ovaries as we would know them. It's impossible to know for certain though, since Bioware hasn't really gone into much detail about it- for pretty obvious reasons Posted Image

Yes.

The Asari were created as fan service and are basically the Green Alien Babe from Star Trek or the Twi-lek from Star Wars. They are anatomically similar to humans. Sure that may be a bit unrealistic, but they weren't created with realism in mind.

The asari have a term Yac-ard for the gene strands that carry that. In purebloods it is more pronounced, since the Yac-ard is spliced in twice (or more, leading to the Ardat-Yakshi aberation) during the melding.

It is likely there are also tentacle-like appendages down there, much like they have on their heads.

I've always wondered but do asari have like, human reproductive organs? and how do they actually impregnate eachother? asari/asari and human/asari?

Asari have vaginas and "penises". The penis shaped organ does not ejaculate, but it does have a sensitive nerve cluster that strengthens the neurological bound of the mind meld.
