I've always wondered but do asari have like, human reproductive organs? and how do they actually impregnate eachother? asari/asari and human/asari?

Asari have vaginas and "penises". The penis shaped organ does not ejaculate, but it does have a sensitive nerve cluster that strengthens the neurological bound of the mind meld.

And you know this...how?

Its my understanding that Asari can reproduce with both sexes of other races does that not mean that they are shall we say "packing both bits of equipment downstairs" and just use the one that's appropriate at the time.

Then again it also stands to reason that turians, krogan etc... would have different organs again so perhaps the organ morphs itself into different forms to suit the situation just as asari appear different to certain species. :alien:

i,m not saying that this is true but just going on some of the things I have heard ingame.

No they don't. But nice trolling attempt, you get a cookie.

People act like vaginas exist because penises exist. Well, that ain't necessarily so. The female reproductive system is structured in a specific way to protect the fetus during gestation. Regardless of whether a species has males or not, those structures make sense. The cervix is protected inside the body. The birth canal can expand to allow for delivery of the newborn. The uterus and ovaries have a function even without traditional human fertilization (asari would still produce oocytes/ova and expel them from ovary-analogs, like other mammals). Asari are aliens, but they're not really all that alien. Based on their similarities to humans, it is ridiculous to say that their reproductive structures are markedly dissimilar from female human anatomy, and even more ridiculous to claim that they're pseudohermaphrodites. But hey, that's the BSN for you. Lulz for everyone.

BSN: where people argue about the plumbing of a fictional and implausible species as if any part of that fictional species' biology made the slightest sense.

Didn't Liara say that they meld with nervous systems? Taking genetic material that way?

I like to think that the Asari evolved and got the ability to mind meld but before they had both reproductive organs they still have but they are just vestigal organs or something along the lines of that

I still prefer my theories on asari history, sociology, reproduction and genetics.

With a totally implausible 'alien' (blue human female) race, can't we even have totally implausible theories on "what's down there"? For all we know they lay eggs and then suckle the babies when they hatch. With those gill and tentacle vestiges, it's entirely likely that they used to live underwater at one stage during their evolution. Or, perhaps their biotics are so naturally strong that they appear as the opposite sex to any other alien viewing them, but are in fact these vague nebulous protoplasms.

Embrace eternity!

I think they would be more gender neutral if that were the case, if their child doesn't inherit anything from the "father" one would think being aesthetically pleasing to each other wouldn't be necessary, unless of course they at one point did reproduce more...conventionally? and the breasts and etc are leftovers like our appendix.

The Asari are mammals.  The mammaries are there for reasons besides sexy time.  They apparently feed their infant children more or less as we do.

Yes they reproduce with each other and other races by "melding" which somehow carries genes from the "father" to the "mother".

As for the organs bit... I always assumed it looked more or less human, but blue. What a strange question.

There is no gene carrying. The father does not impart any actual genetic material to create the child.

Actually, I don't quite agree with this.  Too many Asari NPCs demonstrate clear personality traits from their fathers.

During the meld, the Asari partner explores their mate's genetics.  This is canon.  My opinion, not canon, is that this process is subconscious and that the Asari brain is smart enough to map traits controlled by genetics in her mate.  Her subconscious mind then translates those traits into genetic codes that will, in her Asari child, express themselves as traits of the child's father.

News flash: Breasts don't exist to titillate males. They have a function. Asari mothers presumably suckle their young like other mammals. Why would asari look "gender neutral"? They're female.

Actually there was a study done and there is a theory that human breasts do exist to attract males. It had to do with them being the largest of all primates and stuff like that

They don't exist solely for that.  Women with a healthier appearing bosom (this does NOT just mean size, by the way) are subconsciously perceived as being better able to feed and care for children.  Therefore, it's pro-survival for men to be sexually attracted to these women since the children have a better chance of surviving to adulthood.  Survival of the fittest.

Likely they do.  Not to be too graphic, but if they didn't, then the...positioning used by MShep and Liara in the ME1 romance scene wouldn't have made a lot of sense.

This is clearly not the case.  Such an illusion would hold up as long as it took for someone to snap a photo of a random Asari with a cell phone camera.

That batchelor party conversation on Illium was not inteded to be taken seriously, folks.

"The Galactic Codex: Essentials Edition 2183 says that "while asari have only one gender, they are not asexual like single-celled life—all asari are sexually female","

According to this, the Asari do have female sexual organs. They just might not work the same way as other races. Perhaps all fun and no risk of unwanted pregnancy, while also serving as the birth canal.

You mean omni-tool.

And, sadly, yes, all asari probably have hairless, blue vaginas to go with their boyantly blue breasts and cute blue navels. Quarians are the same, except that the colour is probably mauve.

Now where did I put that book of really alien looking aliens?
