Eyelashes is to ceep dirt out of eye....all mammals have it.. Liara's eyebrow are tatoos...It's her her family face tatoo.(Her mom has it, too.)

Funny thing; asari 'eyelashes' are actually stingers. They're lined with a venomous secretion and are a last resort defense mechanism. First the asari uses her wiles to subdue her attacker, then she gives him (or her) butterfly kisses until one of the stingers detaches and lodges into the attacker's skin, causing an instant and deadly reaction.
