I love topics like these. Everyone's Shepards are always so interesting!

Devin Shepard is a paragade who is tired of the Council, tired of the Alliance, and incredibly fed up with Cerberus. As a sole survivor, working for them has brought back unpleasant memories. Add the stress of planning a suicide mission, and her patience came to an end after the derelict reaper. She blew up the Collector base to spite TIM, and is quite unhappy about her upcoming trial. No Alliance blues for her; a hoodie dictating her rank as a soldier seems far more fitting.

'Commander' Shepard is a true paragon at heart, selfless and compassionate. If only he showed that towards his crew. He has a hard time separating himself from his job; he insists on being called by his rank or surname, keeps a professional tone with his crew at all times, and can be rather harsh to his team if he thinks they've screwed up. He's willing to lend them a hand if they need it, however; he bonded with Jack and ended up romancing her, despite his worries about how it would affect the mission. By the end he's loosened up a little; he's still a hard-ass, but he's learned to crack a smile and relax once in a while.

Joshua Shepard is a man who through great tragedy rose to greatness. At times he still looks back on that day on Mindoir, the day the slavers hit the colony, this only pushes him to succeed in his goal of galactic peace.

He is a kind and generous man towards law abiding citizens, he's fighting for their sake not just for humanity, not just for the Alliance, he fights for every man, woman, and child no matter what race they are.

During combat he is a completely different person, he is relentless in crushing his foes, never letting up on his merciless assaults. The reason behind this is, he demanded their surrounder before the thermal clips began to fly, in his mind they chose their fates for the worse.

He feels that he is an officer representing the highest law in the galaxy, he does not condone mass murders on living species, which is why he set the rachni queen free, resents the quarians for trying to exterminate the geth, and why he hates what the Genophage has done to the krogan. Only under extreme circumstances would he compromise his standards of how a soldier should act. (ex Bring down the sky dlc)

Despite being someone who would rarely even hurt a fly, joshua absolutely detests criminals. This goes back to his trauma from mindoir, the fact that some people think they are not only above the law, but they also think they are superior enough to torture innocent people gets under his skin so much that he would most likely kill a criminal on sight, unless good info could be extracted from them which under those events he acts like the bad cop.

He generally respects every member of his crew, although some took some getting used to. Mainly people like Wrex and Zaeed, in a way both men could be classified as criminals they killed for money. But as time passed he began to see that these men had qualities that redeemed them. He feels something akin to pity for Jack, he think she is similar to him though his experience could never amount to what she endured he feels that instead of going on with her life, she let it control her and ultimately make her the kind of person she is, and whenever he looks at her he thinks "that could've been me." He especially was intrigued by Dr. Liara T'soni, maybe the fact that she was an exotic asari attracted him at first, but he soon came to admire her brilliance and her culture.

Most men who went through all the politcal BS with both the Council and the Alliance would've called it quits long ago, but he stands loyally with the alliance the same way he did when he signed up. Maybe he feels he owes the alliance his life after the raid on Mindoir, maybe he truly feels like he's making a difference either way he's with the alliance through thick and thin, though he is uncertain of his fate due to the upcoming trial.

Yep..me too...I love the stories and perceptions.

Would be great if Shep cracked a smile more often...I have Shep stand behind Joker just to hear his comments, I crack up, Sheps just so blah about it....theres a number of comments aimed at Shep through the game too where I wish Shep would laugh or at least crack a bit of a smile.

Two serious careers, one non-serious.

Raas Shepard - Male, Earthborn, War Hero. Paragade.

This one I feel the most connection to, I modeled him after myself and handle dialogue, decision-making the way I think is best. Dialogue tends to be neutral to renegade. Not unreasonable, but a no nonsense individual. Decision-making is usually paragon, I try to be diplomatic and save as many people as I can. But, I have no qualms making sacrifices where necessary.

Piratethug Shepard - Female, Earthborn, Ruthless.

Pirate Shepard runs things mafia style, and is like a long-haired angel of death when dealing with criminals. She makes all the "smart" renegade decisions. But she keeps both friends and enemies at bay and is a very calculating individual. So she did not keep the base, on the contrary, made sure that Miranda, Jacob and the crew wouldn't return from the mission (she had it out for the first two since the beginning, never even talked to them).

My first Shep was Sheploo. I used all the default settings because I liked him, he seemed strightforward and to the point.
-Earth born
-Sole Survivor
-Top relationship with his crew (except Miranda, I lost he loyalty)
-LI was Tali
-Paragon
-Not loyal to Cerberus but deals with it

John forged many relationships which made it hard to choose between love. In the end he chose Tali for her fearsome loyalty and quirkiness. Though it was a last minute choice because he had formed quite a friendship with Jack. I lost Miranda's loyalty pretty early...so end of the line on her. He never really got a long with Grunt, he would never dare lose him but they wouldn't be the best drinking buddies. His relationship with Jack is one he holds close to the heart. When they met he knew something was behind this barrier she had built. Slowly they both become fast friends. Garrus had too many calibrations to care about John. Jacob was one of his best friends, I found it quite easy to mesh with him. Some say he's simple but I think he's real. John was not close with Mordin but they shared a mutual respect for each other. Samara and Thane were his thinking buddies. They always had something interesting to say and he would often mull over their answers in his quarters.
John sympathizes with the weakness in the universe. He would much rather lose a fight (but he doesn't let that happen) then win an unfair fight.  He believes in rational diplomacy and open-minds to the other races. This attitude has gained him the trust of many. Some may believe his methods are weak, but they have won him support, trust, and battles.

John mourns the loss of Miranda, believing it was his fault. He is determined to avenge in a way she would respect, by defeating the Reapers. Every live lost is important to Shephard.

Currently I'm playing with my femshep.
She is beautiful (but not barbie), she has a very reserved sort of way about her. Strong and rational she can make the snap decisions. She balances words and action. She may be harsh on Joker but his humor and attitude is only of the only consistent lights in her universe of darkness.
Every member of her crew is important to her. She has a soft spot for Wrex, and Garrus is Garrusy. She has begun a relationship with both Kaidan and Liara.  But neither seems to share her same interests and feelings. Someday she will meet someone with a deeper connection (Jack or Thane)

I dont' have as much story for her because I only started her up a bit ago.

Eh, I suppose my Shepard is somewhat like me, although I certainly can't shoot blue light out of my hands, and she does not cuss nearly as much as I do. She's a spacer/sole survivor, because I wanted to be able to not hate batarians without resorting to being some sort of holy paladin about it.

She's a renegon, a really big dick to people she doesn't like (and that's almost everyone after she was ~*reborn*~) but a soft touch for people looking to make the world a better place- her view of a better place, anyways, so she's pretty nice to Mordin, Thane, and Garrus, not so much Samara, although she respects the asari's views. Reputation isn't an issue for her, mainly because she can go for softie to b--ch in under six seconds. She definitely has lines she won't cross, though- no brainwashing, no letting the real baddies go.

On her ship, she's got a shoulder open for anyone who might need it- her pilot, her medic, her squad and her crew. Off her ship, she has a very strong no prisoners, no mercy attitude to her enemies, and anyone dumb enough to point a gun or a biotic blast her way is her enemy.

Essentially, she's a prototypical knight in sour armour:

The presence of cynicism usually makes the idealistic behavior even more noteworthy: it's easy to love everyone when Rousseau Was Right, but you really have to be a good guy to believe that Humans Are Bastards and care about them anyway. Such characters can also be The Fettered; their cynical outlook tells them they could probably get away with all kinds of things that they don't do because that would be wrong, and just because the world sucks doesn't mean you need to make it worse. Then again, this kind of character goes great with a world where you Earn Your Happy Ending= http://tvtropes.org/...ightInSourArmor

Or, to sum up her world view:

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

People favor underdogs but follow top dogs;
Fight for some underdogs anyway.

Devon Shepard is male, and a really good guy. He’s a Vanguard, and he’s very much a “fixer”, he wants to fix everybody’s problems, save everyone, and do the right thing. He is a total boy scout. He loves Liara with all his heart, though he is dismayed by the dark turn she’s taken since he “died”.

Simone Shepard is female, and she is also in a committed relationship with Liara, though she is much more in tune with Liara’s pragmatism. Simone is an Adept, and she and Liara have a battlefield synergy that is nothing short of awesome. Simone doesn’t take any guff from anyone, but she’ll always stop to help people in trouble.

Martín Shepard
grew up on Mindoir, saw his parents killed, then saw his entire unit wiped out on Akuze. To say Martín has abandonment issues is putting it mildly. He never lets anyone get too close. Romance is tricky too, he’s gay, and he never really knows how to make the first move. He’s a Sentinel, and he had a real affinity with Kaidan Alenko, but it never went anywhere. But Kaidan is the closest thing to a friend that Martín ever had.

Leah Shepard
has some kind of personality disorder. She’s an Engineer, and she’s neutral almost to a fault. She is very calm, cool, and collected, to the point that people think she doesn’t have feelings. She does have feelings, they’re just very quiet feelings. Leah is a beast when it comes to technology, but when it comes to dealing with people, she’s out of her depth.

Ethan Shepard thinks he’s all that. He’s got a bleached-blonde buzzcut, and he thinks he’s a stud. He banged Ashley, then he banged Jack, and now he’s itching to try someone new. He’s an Infiltrator, in more ways than one. Ethan’s good at telling people what they want to hear in order to get what he wants, but if he doesn’t want anything from you he’ll treat you like crap.

Ashley Shepard should be in prison. She’s literally psychotic. She revels in killing and death, and if she can’t kill you outright, she’ll maneuver the situation to put you in a precarious situation. If you live, you’re worthy, if you die, even better. The only person she respects is Morinth, because she’s honest. She doesn’t pretend to be some kind of saint. She also likes Kasumi, because she likes to break the rules. She had a fling with Kaidan, more to see if she could crack his armor than anything else, then had a fling with Jacob before getting him killed on Collector Station. Of course, she also got everyone else killed, other than Morinth and Kasumi, of course.

I too used Sheploo, as he fit my perfect description as a bada-- in space blowing anything dangerous in his path to smithereens. You just can;t go wrong with Sheploo, I do have a FemShep though, but I hardly touch her.

Anyway!
John is a stable man who grew up in well stabled community in Belgium. (Earth-born) He deals with stress very well and knows exactly how to handle others and is there for people when they need to talk. John is an inspiration figure to many and is a good listener. John loves heavy armor and loves to be in the thick of fights, but in a sensible way to keep him Paragon. He does have his moments however with his enemies that will up his Renegade. But his friends around him support him in all his doings. John is everything that a father would be. Because of this, the girls and guys around him always feel at peace and feel like he won't judge them for their mistakes.

I have a hard time trying to describe how I feel about my Sheploo. I would describe more, but I can't.I lost my dad when I was 10 (6 years ago) and playing ME with Sheploo is my escape. I pretend Sheploo is my dad, so Sheploo means a lot to me. But uh, there you go. Chessy as **** but yeah.

oh, but he loves Soccer! :)

My Adelheid Shepard is a Colonist/Ruthless Renegon who has a few screws loose from her past traumatic experiences and is quick to anger if people get in her way. I imagine her as having been a regular girly girl who never had any intention of ever firing a weapon(let alone joining the military) prior the slaver attack on Mindoir. Her true love Kaidan provides great emotional stability and the hope of settling down with him after the Reaper war keeps her psyche in check.

Ethnically she's of German/Scottish ancestry and is a Lutheran Christian. She prayed to her lord and savior Jesus Christ before embarking on the mission to Ilos and the suicide mission.

Politically she favors human dominance and aspires to rally the non-citadel aliens behind humanity's lead against the reapers and the three council races. She's not anti-alien or some mouth breathing bigot by any means.

She typically aspires to help the weak and punish the wicked even at the cost of the lives of innocents for the greater good. She behaves as a protective maternal figure for her crew with strict discipline and helps out in their personal affairs if needed.

Wow I have a bunch of Sheps...but I suppose I'll just list my cannon gal to spare pages of text lol

Earthborn/Sole Survivor/Vanguard or Adept

Teddy Shepard: Abandoned at a hospital in New York and sent to spend the first twelve years of her life in a govt run orphanage. Quiet, shy, and a complete bookworm. Had a slight rebellious streak at 13 and ran away....wound up with the Reds after realizing she was a horrible dumpster diver and couldn't surive on her own.

Learned to use an omni tool, took part in small time robberies which made her feel guilty. Found out she had biotic potential when she was interviewed on an Alliance recruiting station at 17. Went for the surgery/training. Spent a year in recovery before offically signing up on her 18th birthday.

She constantly worries about another Akuze/Virmire situations. Fierecely loyal to her squad and fellow crewmates. Appreciates Kaidan as a boyfriend- he doesn't jump quickly into situations and neither does she. Fears her own biotic abilites....the loss of control. A complete bookworm in private, spends hours reading about alien/human history.

Loyal to the Council/Alliance but has mixed views of Cerberus. While she doesn't approve of them, she thinks the group needs a major overhal. Has more of Jacob's view of Cerberus than anyone else.

An overall good gal, if a bit naive? Her insecurities and fear of failure are what really drive her to make sure as many people she cares about survive the upcoming war.

omg, man. I am soo sorry. :crying: I never knew. I hope all is well in your family. And no. It's not chessy. People cope in different ways.  I can totally see how Sheploo can help. I have my parents and I'm obsessed with him for no real reason. Don't you worry! :) I truly wish you the best!

I am loving this thread. I too love to read what everyone's Sheps are like. :wizard:

You know what might be interesting? If we did a thread about our motivations behind the main quests/loyalty missions. The game gives their own, of course, but our own/our Shepard's thought process might be kind of fun to talk about.

Orion Simba Shepard.

Age - 33.
Weight - 200 lbs.
Height - 6 ft.
Skin color - dark.
Hair color - dark + curly (military shave currently).
Ethnicity - Black/Puerto Rican heritage.
Diet - Omnivore.
Family - n/a (no known relatives)
class - Infiltrator.

History:

Joined the military after spending his youth on Earth, as part of the infamous gang "The Reds".

At 17 he was arrested during a police-gang turf war, but not before shooting a cop with a poisonous dart that kept the officer out of action for several weeks. Offered the choice between joining the military, or being put in prison for the next 4 years, Shepard made the "smart" choice, and enlisted to escape the world of crime.

At 22, he had a reputation as a brilliant soldier in training, all of the skill a needed to easily and naturally advance through the ranks with few hiccups. His reputation was that of a tough and cocky soldier who constantly "innovated" to get the job done, often disobeying orders. He was targeted several times for Corsair recruitment by the age of 25, but was then denied further access to the program for "tardiness" in the Alliance military, involving inappropriate relationships with several female coworkers, and a few in-the-field "innovations" that went against Alliance rules.

(important to note that these missions were still highly successful)

At 26, he applied for N7 training despite being told multiple times not to by superior officers, with intentions to major in Stealth-Recon, Tracking & Assassination. He aced it with unparalleled ease. Steven Hackett, who was considering Orion Shepard as a possible candidate to lead infiltration teams, described Shepard as "humiliating the N7 training program with unquestionable precision, will power, and excellent team building skills".

A few months later, Shepard was tasked with a "cleansing" mission involving Batarian slavers in the Alliance controlled sections of the Terminus. Ego overwhelmed reason, and in a clumsy act of foolishness, Orion got five of his men, and over 41 slaves killed, while sustaining a wound from Batarian slavers who escaped. Humiliated that his first big N7 operation was a failure, Shepard was desperate to prove himself to the brass who had once had so much faith in him.

After long deliberation, it was decided to let Shepard get one last chance as an N7. He would have to take out a large pirate base located deep in the moon of Torfan. Managing to rally enough faith in his troops, Orion promised his fellow soldiers bloodshed in exchange for the lives stolen and lost by the Batarians. And Shepard descended upon the pirates in a blood drunk ego-scarred fury. And the Batarians died. And Shepard's men died. And Shepard, with only a few dozen men survived.

Shepard was hailed as a hero, exterminator, and was given the title of "Butcher of Torfan". The Batarians used the title in fear, and the Alliance used it in jeering happiness.

But Shepard couldn't take it. Despite the medals, pats on the back, and high risk missions now opened to him, Orion was haunted by what his ego had led him to do. In one of three mental evaluation sessions set up for him by David Anderson, it was revealed that Orion was tortured by the memory of his men and himself murdering the Batarians, even those that surrendered, in a perpetual fit of rage.

(It was also revealed that Orion's ego was initially damaged because, in his initial ground-recon mission to rescue 44 human kidnapped slaves (only three of which survived), he was shot in the face with a grenade from Batarian captain (never caught). Through astronomical odds, the grenade didn't detonate, though it did stun and physically scar Orion. His N7 training not enough to save him, it was only by the hands of fate that Shepard survived that mission)

Orion's large ego quickly melted away over the next few years. He became a highly reliable operative, taking part in numerous missions with low success estimates, and completing them all. His ruthlessness did not relent, however. While not a xenophobe, as he was in his youth, Shepard was still a tough and difficult to please.

Though Shepard tries to maintain a cool heir now days, subtle body language from time to time suggests depression, guilt, and internal conflict. It is known that he seems to find the day-to-day routines of military life comforting. He enjoys off-world hunting, VI training programs, recruit CQC training, and spending his shore leave time doing light gambling, and light bar hopping. Orion is occasionally known to visit (Alliance approved) brothels on his shore leaves as well, though it is suspected that he takes sexual represent pills (Alliance approved) for at least part of the year.

*Cracks Knuckles*

Because I'm in the mood, I'll add a lot more detail. Be ready for a wall-o-text.

Relationship With Crew Members...

Tali: He adores Tali ever since first meeting her on The Citadel. He thinks her culture and her astuteness are incredible assets and he grew very close to her, especially during the events of Mass Effect 2. He sees Tali as a little sister, but also as someone very capable of taking care of herself. He understands her and what her species has to deal with since losing their homeworld. He completely understands her attitude during her loyalty mission and the Paragon hugging option when she discovers her father's body would have come to him very naturally if he were real. Tali is one of his best friends.

Liara: He grew to really, really care for Liara. Her intelligence and shy demeanor were what really got his attention, but what really got his friendship was how capable she proved herself to be. He felt legitimately sorry for her during the fiasco with Benezia and has seen her as his inseparable friend since. In the first Mass Effect, Liara was the ONLY permanent squad member, the other two alternating between Wrex and Tali. He is saddened that Liara can't join him during the events of Mass Effect 2, but he is incredibly impressed to discover how much Liara has grown and how independent she has become. To him, it's like watching a little sister grow up into a fully adult, capable woman who has worked hard for what she needs.

Kaidan: Shepard really likes Kaidan and appreciates him, but has no romantic feelings for him (yet). He sees Kaidan as a good friend and he understands that Kaidan is a soldier through and through. Shepard saved him at Virmire, and was deeply hurt at how cold Kaidan was with him when first meeting in Mass Effect 2. But ultimately, Shepard knows he's doing the right thing and that Kaidan will come around.

Ashley: He was apprehensive about Williams but completely understood that Williams was a damned good soldier. He would often throw down with her because their points of view were so vastly different, but they grew to be good friends and Shepard's only regret in life is that he had to leave Ashley behind. He was incredibly impressed with her during those final moments, knowing that she died as a hero serving a soldier's duty. He remembers her all the time and keeps her close to his heart.

Wrex: Shepard liked Wrex from the moment he met him. He appreciates Wrex's ability to get results and his determination. He also appreciates Wrex's "survival of the fittest" attitude, even if Shepard doesn't believe in "every man for himself." That's because Shepard strives to be the best he can be and he feels that the Krogan in general have a culture based around fighting to very end. He spared Wrex at Virmire and was very, very happy to see him helping his people come together during the events of Mass Effect 2.

Garrus: His relationship with Garrus is friendly, but distant. He doesn't share with Garrus the kind of raport he shares with other crew members. He think Garrus is a TRUE Paragon, a man who wants to do good no matter it takes. He sees him as chaotic good and he values that because Shepard himself, considers his own personality to fall under that.

Miranda: This relationship started off terribly rocky, with Shepard having suspicions about Miranda's loyalties. But their friendship grew with time as she opened up more to him, especially about her personal life and her family troubles. It was when he was helping Miranda in her loyalty mission that he really grew to care for her, and seeing her reaction when her friend was murdered really made her more human in his eyes. He encouraged her to speak with her sister and waited in the sidelines for her because he felt Miranda deserved a chance to be more vulnerable and enjoy the little things in life. It infuriated Shepard when Jack was trying to bully Miranda and that is actually the only time Shepard has ever been angry at anyone of his crew members.

Jack: The one crew member Shepard did not get along with. He did everything he could and she simply would not see eye to eye with him or give him the chance to be friends. He completely let go of the possibility of a friendship when Jack threatened Miranda. Jack is the only member of Shepard's crew to die during the suicide mission, and though he feels sorry that she is gone, it doesn't bother him as much as it probably should.

Jacob: He has a very distant relationship with Taylor. He thinks Taylor is a good man with a good heart, but is ultimately too compartmentalized and since Shepard tends to keep to himself, it didn't really work out as more than a cordial aquentance and someone worth trusting on the battlefield. He admires Taylor's abilities in combat though.

Mordin: Shepard's favorite crew member is Mordin. Primarily liking him for his incredible sense of humor and hilariously innapropriate comments, Shepard grew to really care for Mordin during the loyalty mission. Seeing that Mordin wasn't rutheless, but rather calculated with his incredible scientific work was what really made Shepard appreciate him. Shepard would go to ends of the galaxy for Mordin Solus is he had to and he sees Mordin as a life long friend who he can learn a lot from.

Samara: Samara is a kindred spirit for my Shepard. She's brutal with her enemies and on her way to doing what she considers is right. Shepard too believes in no mercy for the petty criminals who hurt others and act thoughtlessly. If Shepard were an Asari, he too would be a Justicar. The only difference between Shepard and Samara is that Samara is guided by a specific code and Shepard is guided by his conscience. But in both cases, if the laws get in the way of the code or the conscience, the law will lose. This is why Shepard had no issues joining Cerberus during Mass Effect 2.

Thane: Shepard appreciates Thane and his point of view about life, and finds it fascinating that Thane is both a killer and a surprisingly stable person. He sense Thane's fear of dying from his illness and really, really admires that Thane never breaks even under such circumstances. It's not that Shepard wouldn't want to see him vulnerable, but he really admires that Thane puts his goals before his own well being. Deep down, Shepard hopes that with time he will be able to strip the layers away from Thane's personality mask and get to know him better.

Grunt: He really likes Grunt. He likes that Grunt is loyal and hard working and has many of the positive Korgan traits. He doesn't quite like him as much as Wrex, but he thinks he's still a great crew member. He was very proud of helping Grunt to complete his test before being accepted into the clan and defended him against the other Krogan who didn't want him to join.

Legion: Legion is fascinating to Shepard. He sees Legion as a legitimate crew member and a living being, not as just complex A.I. To Shepard, Legion is just as alive as anybody else on the Normandy, and he really grows to understand and respect the Geth. This is something that makes his relationship with Tali a little strained, but they make it through.

Joker: Shepard knows Joker is a damned good pilot and he secretly loves his sense of humor, but won't tell him that because if he does then Joker will just take it and run with it a little too much.

EDI: Shepard likes EDI a lot and he thinks it's a riot that she often interferes with Joker because it's not often that he sees Joker being the exasperated one.

Dr. Chawkwas: The doc is one of Shepard's greatest friends and he was extremely honored when she joined him on his mission during the events of ME 2. Saving the doc was his greatest priority when the group got captured. He sees her as a mother of sorts...

*Phew* That must have been like fifteen pages!

You know what might be interesting? If we did a thread about our motivations behind the main quests/loyalty missions. The game gives their own, of course, but our own/our Shepard's thought process might be kind of fun to talk about.

I would be interested in such a topic.

Orion Simba Shepard.

Age - 33.
Weight - 200 lbs.
Height - 6 ft.
Skin color - dark.
Hair color - dark + curly (military shave currently).
Ethnicity - Black/Puerto Rican heritage.
Diet - Omnivore.
Family - n/a (no known relatives)

Wow!...What an awesome story...thanks for sharing it 100k...much appreciated. I also have a penchant for ethnic Sheps, wouldn't mind seeing a pic of yours...you have him posted anywhere?
