New CVG Article on ME3 doesn't give me much confidence.

His job is to advertise the game, I'm not sure what you were expecting from an interview with him.

else can they show? They can't get to far into depth of story or
character interaction (which is what I assume some want to see) without
spoiling it for people, which would cause people to whine about that.
Either way people are going to be pissed it seems.

Like...we're facing REAPERS....haha.
But then again...I love the romance. Just find this whole situation laughable.

If you have a problem with Silverman take it to his Twitter. People can demand as much button not-awesome as they want, but that is one of the guys who managed to get ME3 to be recognized as the retail game with the most potential of E3 2011 by an independent research team, and gathered more IGN page views than any other game.Savber100 wrote...
Normally, I disagree with Terror_K on his (or her) position on RPGs but I have to admit that I can't blame him (or her) about this interview. Seriously, this guy does not inspire confidence that Bioware is planning to enrich the RPG elements.
This has nothing to do with Marketing and it's clear since the very title and the OP, this is another BSN whinefest. What Silverman thinks about the product has nothing to do with the developers. Everyone knows what Silverman's position is.
As long as he is not contributing to the misinformation of the consumer, you will just have to deal with his techniques which are apparently succesful, and not use it to throw around remarks about ME2, other games, as well as "doubting for ME3".
Well I'm not canceling my preorder just yet
Also, if he's not misinforming the consumer as you implied, what does that say about the interview?

I thought Silverman was okay, just a bit silly.
Now?
Annoyingly cheesy.
Marketing - somehow very successful.
Fixed.

The people they need to entice and persuade to buy their games are the ones who buy other franchises such as Gears, Halo and Assassin's Creed - which are all good games. COD isn't though
This makes sense, the PR department doesn't need to appeal to us, because we are already on this site, seeing all the RPG news and everything which is meant to appeal to us

This guy might be exaggerating but everything he says has a kernel of truth and that's what disturbs me.
Maybe, but he still has as much to do with the actual programming and design of the game as their janitor. As annoying as all that "awesome button" stuff was, DA2 wasn't his fault.

But from what I've seen of the videos, screenshots, etc. ME3 is looking to have the greater RPG depth (at least from a character upgrade level) than ME2. Thats a win for RPG.
What we need though, is something shown that isn't specifically there for marketing purposes.
Things like Ash in Armour, see some of the outcome of choices perhaps, see some of the non combat environments etc - whatever.
I've always agreed with you Terror about ME2's direction, but don't let that jade your ME3 opinion - particularly when we've only really had very early marketing to get the COD crowd going.
Edit: Yeah - and as a matter of fact Mr.Silverman. I care. I don't play ME for the shooter bits.

Maybe he needs to tone down the hyping drive a bit, but I'd rather have him go crazy and yell "THIS GAME WILL BE SO AWESOME" while handing out awesome Mass Effect themed buttons to everyone than a bunch of forumites claiming to be so "hip and elite" and acting as if they are too cool for this marketing style. (Oh my *sigh* <.< button awesome *sigh* >.>)Savber100 wrote...
Well I'm not canceling my preorder just yetand I understand that he's passionate in his job. However, he really needs to find a way to balance out his PR speak with less emphasis on what's cool and hip. To me, it comes off as pretentious and judging from the reaction on the CVG site, I'm not alone here.
Also, if he's not misinforming the consumer as you implied, what does that say about the interview?
It's OK to make fun of a company, I suppose, but a real person? Really? That's just sad.

I've learnt NEVER to trust Bioware misleading marketing.
Yeah - those Marilyn Manson DA trailers - I hadn't seen much of DAO prior to that, and dismissed it out of hand. It wasn't until later on and I started to see the meat of the game I took interest...turned out to be one of my favourite games of all time.

Bioware, you need to fire this person and put in someone who actually understands the series. I'm adopting a heavy wait and see response for ME3 with this guy at the helm.
You do realize he doesn't actually work on the game right? Or dictate what the game is or is not? Look, if you haven't learned not to treat what PR folk say as some sort of gospel by now, I don't know what to tell you.
