Hi,

When I Play ME1, randomly my PC just lockes up(most of the time after saving), googled the problem and no help.  My PC specs are above avarage and no problems with any other games(Spore GA, Dead space 1&2, ME2 maxed out settings).

Any help will be Greatly appreciated.

Hi DominicT109
What version of ME1 are you using? Is it the Steam or retail version? If it's the Steam version, you could try verifying the integrity of the game cache just in case you have a corrupted file in there. You could also try updating the game to version 1.02.

It would still help if you could post your specs and driver versions. This thread is a handy guideline: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/131/index/2012975

Spore, Dead Space, Dead Space 2 and Mass Effect 2 are all less demanding than Mass Effect 1.

@Grealdine
Retail version, Game is 1.02, and Steam is the biggest load of S**t in the world.

@Fredvdp
Windows XP sp3
Intel Core I5 3.00Ghz(no Overclock)
3GB Kingston DDR3 Ram
NVIDIA GeForce GT 220(260.99 Driver Version)
Sound Card is A Realtek HD Card(was having a bit of a problem with sound so can't give model as card is in for testing, using on board sound card)
Have just downloaded the latest DX9

(Thanks for all the help, been to busy to cheak the forum.)

After all is said and done Mass Effect is still the best buy i have ever made.

While a GT 220 isn't quite as awful for its own generation as the GT 520 is now, it's not much good when compared to proper gaming hardware, being only a fence-sitter between Low End and Mainline Gaming, so it will struggle with ME1. It's comparable to the Geforce 8500/9400 (same thing) from the prior generation, slightly better, but has maybe 30% of a GT 240's performance (that was the "proper" Mainline card from the GT200s).

If there is a 258.xx driver for that card and your OS, try that instead (OK, you have Window XP, so that driver should be available).
