Heh, those auto stimpaks saved me more than once. Or I should say, warned me of death a second or two before it rained down on me. I don't wear the stealth suit, though. That chick is like a drug dealer, guilt trips and all.

That suit was my Courier's new bestfriend. (Sorry FIDO).

The "more perks" mod actually allows your Pip Boy to do just that, while he is screaming in his best R. Lee Ermey voice at you to stop being such a **** and injects you with amounts of Jet, Psycho and other stuff that would kill a rhino.
I love it. I feel like a Warhammer 40k World Eater with that perk. Skigh high on combat drugs, slaughtering people in close combat and getting screamed at by R. Lee Ermey/Khorne

The "puny" Ratslayer has been my main weapon through all the DLCs. Then again, I have a broken character build with 100% critical chance with that gun. Only against the deathclaws I needed a bigger boomstick.

Oh well so far of what I've seen of Gun Runners is not all that impressive. Maybe I'm missing a few things I'll see when I play it later on today. But so far minus a few special weapons, all of the "New" weapons are just the old ones, or a few special weapons turnt "normal" and they all have max endurance and GRA stamped on them. Been looking in all of the shops and still haven't found the Katana, and no AK >> Oh well.I'll give a better opinion on it later today after I get a change to play it and take care of a few things.

Ratslayer is my constant companion, as well. One criticism I'd have of the DLCs is that I didn't like the new weapons. Never used them except the flare gun to scare tunnelers. I don't like gimmicky weapons or big weapons. More classic guns with personality is what I was hoping for. Then again, nothing replaces the Lincoln Repeater, Blackhawk and Reservist's Rifle in FO3, either.

Hmm, in three I just used the Chinese Assualt Rifle, and a missile laucnher for the most part.

In NV, I don't use that weapon, mainly stick to AR's something that can reach out, at least one melee and one silenced weapon, sniper, a shotgun, and Gernades. lulz

No one weapon is never enough.

With the SuperSlam and Rad Child perks, melee is tremendously overpowered in New Vegas, at least in the vanilla version of the game. On Very Hard difficulty setting, using a SuperSledge, Rebar Club or even a hatchet, if you have these two perks, high Strength, high Luck and Critical or Deadly Rad Poisoning level, you can pretty easily beat every enemy in the game except Legate Lanius. (haven't played any DLC yet)

I would run into a crowd of dozens of enemies and quickly wipe them out, without using any companions. Even wiped out every NCR base and killed everyone in Caesar's Camp this way. Securitron robots go down fast as well.

I recently installed a bunch of mods and I have not yet determined whether melee is still as overpowered.

Melee is hella fun in both FO3 and FNV.

I kind of wrote off energy weapons in FNV- is anyone a fan? What are your thoughts? I've got a character that I built EW up for but I just never use them so I'm not versed in which are good or fun to use.

They were improved a lot after one of the early patches. Prior to that, they were severely underpowered vs enemies with DT.

Personally I like the feel of conventional weapons a lot more, so I suppose my favorite energy weapon is the Incinerator.

Speaking of Melee the Katana protective sheath is proving to be a pain in the ass to find, I'm told by the wiki its in Mick and Ralphs but hell if I'm finding it in the sells list.

OK, I'm on the High Road. Pretty fun thus far. Not liking Ulysses' voice at this point. We'll see how I feel at the showdown.

What's with these stupid tunnelers? Two rounds from an AMR and they're still running and lunging at me. Solved that little annoyance with a shotgun and magnum rounds.

Deathclaws are beastly on the High Road, but .50 cal incindiary rounds seem to be doing the trick.

Digging hunting for warheads.

I got chomped by that deathclaw that spawns right on your head on the High Road. Oh, and I also plunged to my death from the Crow's Nest. lol

Got lucky with that Deathclaw, he swiped ED-E, but one .50 cal round to the head and a lucky roll of the dice...

I did get ambushed by two Deathclaws unexpectedly when I went under the High Road to explore that little outpost. Last I checked my meter they were safely far enough away above on the High Road. Pretty much fighting for my life throwing mines everywhere. ED-E's not much help in a fight with a Deathclaw.

Yeah, I fell off the bridge to my death like an idiot along the way, not looking where I was going while strafing...playing around really and got found out.Image IPB

I thought they were much improved in NV. Definitely a lot more variety now, and the folding of some favorites like the Incinerator into Energy Weapons also helped. Every kind of weapon and damage now has a logical progression from handheld pistols up to the big guns. I also liked how they integrated the original FO1/2 West Coast energy weapons into the game via the Plasma Defender and Caster.

That said, thanks to regular Guns also getting a huge boost in variety, my starter character stuck with them for the whole game while I had a seperate one for energy weapons, unlike in Fallout 3 where I used guns at fist then switched to energy halfway through. I suppose that's a holdover from the original games, where they was the natural progression for a combat character.

Just throw a flashbang into the tunneler mob and hope that they go berserk. After that just mop up what's left of them with some well placed shots from the Riot Shotgun.

Pft Cowards. Take your Katana and charge right into them, leaving nothing behind but the broken bodies of the fallen.

Also found the item I needed, its not listed as a weapons mod funny enough, in the sells list.

Dont have gunrunners yet but my Avenger Minigun has made short work of any tunneler and my hunters shotty.

The only pain in the ass was couriers mile.I kept get swarmed by 4-5 deathclaws and more marked men. After a dozen deaths I found a Fatman in my inventory.

Even on very hard if a Deathclaw gets on you its 1-2 hits and your dead. Hardcore mode so I couldnt even stack enough healing items.

All and all I liked it. Obsidian has done very well with the New Vegas and its DLCs. A shame I think this is the last one. Need more Fallout!!!

Why I enjoyed Fallout New Vegas more than FO3 (which is also a great game):

FO3 Journal Quests (excluding DLC): 31

FNV Journal Quests (excluding DLC): 105

Those links are lists for all the quests in each game. FO3 had 31 marked quests and FNV had 105 quests.

When playing I didn't sit back and count the quests, of course, I only know that my New Vegas playthroughs seemed to last much longer (first playthrough lasted nearly 200 hours, without any DLC or quest mods, second I haven't finished yet) and I was enjoying the game more.

When I checked the list of FO3 quests to confirm a comment about the number of quests in Skyrim being "6 - 7 times" the number of FO3 quests, and I saw there were only 31 quests, I started wondering how many total quests were in New Vegas.

Obviously one really good quest like Whodunit? in Oblivion or Tranquility Lane in FO3 is worth much more than numerous smaller quests, but in general I think the more quests, especially side quests, in any RPG, the more I'm going to enjoy the game.

The great thing about Bethesda's RPGs is that they ship modding tools and there are lots of community created quest mods available for free.

31 quests vs. 105 without counting many quests from wonderful dlcs.

Obvious winner there. Not to say that Fallout 3 was bad. I enjoyed it but, unfortunately, it turned out to be  FPS Oblivion. Same half assed game which sort of builds the foundation, but relies heavily on modders to expand it and fix it.

NV plays a lot better for me. More.. right - as fallout should be.
