Then you really need to look at the Game's forums...

I was looking around and saw a Thread about how many hours folks had in...there were more than a couple of posts by folks who have over 1000 hours in! IIRC there was even one player that had over 2000 hours in! Image IPB

It really does say a lot about a Game when so many folks put as many hours into it as many New Vegas players do.

I'm playing Honest Hearts now, and just found a Cave that has pretty much all the different little things one can do...had a Campfire, Loading Bench, Workbench, Computer Terminal (that didn't have to be hacked) and as I was doing a bunch of little "housekeeping" chores, I realized that not one of them was absolutely essential...you can buy Food or Stimpacks, Ammo, a lot of the Workbench stuff. You really don't need to read what's on most of the Terminals, it just makes it a richer Story experience...bottom line was I thought to myself how adaptable the Game is to pretty much any player-type. To me, THAT's the mark of a really well-made Game.

Although I can see more than a few "Completionists" having Nervous Breakdowns. Image IPB

Well, finally finished Lonesome Road and I was not disappointed.  Highlights for me:

**SPOILERS ALERT**

- Courier's Mile.  Should've just put "There be monsters here" on the map.  Radiation at 25 rads/sec? Oh with (what?) seven/eight Deathclaws stalking/flailing at you, oh, and innumberable Marked Men armed with sholder fired MGs who don't miss (that do respawn if you re-enter).  Had to go back in twice to hunt for what turned out to be two warheads.  It was well worth it though.  Walked out sick with advanced radiation sickness, but the loot was great, to include a Fatman, and the ammo...well, I'll just say I found more Radaway (needed), .50 cal ammo, incindiary rounds and armor piercing rounds of varying calibers, than I found, or reloaded, in all my time in New Vegas.  Really enjoyed the challenge and being well rewarded for it was satisfying.  After being mauled the first time in, I decided to put those satchel charges to good use.  It was a game changer.  Blows a Deathclaw to pieces if he walks right over it.

Elevator ride down into the Divide.  That was different.

Hunting Warheads (Got 'em all!).  Was really disappointed going into Ulysses' Temple with only 24 under my belt, but the door opens and (viola!) six were sitting right there surrounding him in his "Temple"...how convenient.

Anyone else run into Rawr (what a clever name for a boss DeathclawImage IPB) in that cave behind the waterfall in the Divide?  If you walk in, the cave collapses behind you and reveals a warhead so you can blast your way out.  That's  the thing about the FO universe, always expect the unexpected.  Love that about this franchise.

Tunnellers.  Hate 'em.  Just didn't seem right that their DT or HP (whichever applied) was so high based on their appearance.  I didn't preceive them for the threat they were at first sight.  While that may be a reflection of 'don't judge a book by it's cover' or 'dynamite comes in small packages' in real life, it didn't annoy me any less.  Deathclaws I get, Tunnellers...well...just no.  One swipe, two swipes, crippled limb; two AMR shots to the head; still on it's feet. Ended up flash banging them as recommended above and shotgunning.  The flare gun was effective as well. Was totally surprised by them in that one cave in the Divide, once I had reached the end and turned around to walk out.  Got swarmed.  Important safety tip: never...ever...I mean, ever...throw a plasma grenade at your feet!

Story elements came together well I thought.  As LR progressed, my understanding of the Courier's role in events was revealed, and the ED-E's parts in it, and all began to make sense.  Thought that all worked well.

Ended up talking Ulysses down, even after I was quite sure I was going to kill him going in.  With the faux menacing voice, the cryptic talk, puting my Courier through hell, oh and if I heard him say "the Divide" one more time, well, he was just asking to be shot on sight.  His capture of ED-E was pretty much the last straw.  But, when I met him, he just seemed too broken to hate or kill.  He was dangerous sure, but he was gone.  Killing him was wrong for my Courier and fighting together seemed the right thing.  Thought the decision at the end was very appropriate for the Courier's story, whatever his flag.  I ended up sacrificing ED-E to stop the launch sequence.  Originally was going to annihilate the Legion, but was too tired (as a character) to kill anymore.  Yeah, he was one man who could make a difference and build a nation, but would he?  I still haven't answered that one.  The Divide seemed like the perfect last chapter for my Courier and that decision seemed to fit him.  He was done with it all, like Ulysses it would seem.  Was glad to see in the epilogue that ED-E transferred his (memories/data/whatever) to my ED-E in New Vegas.  Softened the blow a bit.

Very pleased with Lonesome Road. Satisfying conclusion to the story arc and quite challenging.  I think I had about 10-12 hours in the DLC, and I know I still missed things because I didn't retrieve all the relics/records.

All-in-all, these were four outstanding DLCs, packed with a ton of content for the money.  They added significantly to the storyl of the New Vegas Courier and the challenge grew more difficult as we went along.  Couldn't have asked for more.  I think Obsidian has shown the way for DLC.  They gave us a lot entertaining and high quality content for the money.  OWB is my favorite, but LR is a very close second to me.

Oh, and hell yes, I'm wearing Ulysses duster. Image IPB

Edit: Spoilers Tag.

I'm at around 282 total hours played and still haven't finished the game or completed the last two DLCs. I need to get to that.

Three full playthroughs (with Deadmoney and Honest Heart dlcs) I always start new ones and mess with mods and create my own.

Currently focusing on my female ninja

By the way if someone misses Capital Wasteland then there is a mod that have existed for a while  - http://www.newvegasn...le.php?id=41480

Basically lets you enter capital wasteland and washington dc and all your fallout 3 dlcs if you have 'em installed.

Requires Fallout3 files of course.

Scared the hell out of me the first time actually. Tried to retreat but didn't notice that the cave collapsed behind me. Yeah, that ended well...
Good way to handle him is to shoot a flare on him and then detonate the warhead close to him. Stealth boy + Brush Gun also works well. :)

They are real bastards but they have low DT as far as I can tell, which means that a lot of the rapid-firing guns will chew them up. I got excellent use of my newly-acquired Bozar here and the shouldermounted machinegun also works wonders in tearing them up. In the room with the Queen, the flashbangs *really* helped though.

I enjoyed LR a lot more on my second playthrough of it. I think Ulysses in particular is a really excellent character though, like Joshua Graham, one expected something different. Ulysses feels like a broken man who has gone through rock-bottom.

The tunnellers seem akin to nightstalkers in terms of their HP and killing power, and the ghoul reavers introduced by Broken Steel in FO3. I guess the idea is that they have hardened skin due to radiation? That would be my guess.

Did anyone notice the broken deathclaw cages in the Divide?  It looks like deathclaws were imported to that region, by one military faction or another.

Night Stalkers (especially Big Mountain NSs) are exactly what I thought of. Tunnellers are the tough, little, infurating, swarming bastards of the Divide, just substitute excessive limb damage for poisioning.

Ever since I downloaded the two latest patches on the PS3 version and got the all the DLCs, my game has been made unplayable. Started a new file, twice. Deleted game data, redownloaded everything, deleted all my save files. The game lags, slows downs, freezes or crashes every five minutes. I'm not the only one. Many PS3 users are complaining right now on the official boards how the game is now broken because of the latest releases and Obsidian/Bethesda isn't planning to do any kind of fix soon. Chris Avelone and Jason Bergman are also saying on their Twitter accounts that they're avoiding all fan-mails for the next few days... What a ... *sighs*

I think Lonesome Road is kind of buggy.

When I entered the Divide and then quickly returned to the Mojave, there was some kind of blur filter on distant objects that got carried back. I fast traveled and it disappeared but it returns from time to time.

I liked his duster a lot more than the specialized Courier one (NCR, in my case) you get from the crate at the end. Gotta dig walking around with a flag on your back. Now if only somebody would let follow a Brotherhood of Steel path and craft Cap's shield, then wield it in one hand with That Gun in the other.

Disclaimer: I'm sure there's a mod that lets you do that, but I'm on a 360.

EDIT: Also, if you happen to be using the Wild Wasteland trait, I urge you to at least do a temp reload and launch the missiles at both factions. It's worth it for the ending slide alone.

When I finished Dead Money, everything looked pink for a while. It seems to have gone away.

Had no bug issues with LR at all. Sorry to hear others not so lucky. Let me just say, Chris Avellone is a cool guy and is responsive to fans. If he wants to turn off his mail, that's his deal. He's a writer, not QA.

No issues with any DLCs on PC whatsoever. Crashed only once in OWB.

@Addai67: Oh, I know that. But at least he could contact some members in the team and get some stuff fixed that way, even though he would only be relaying a message. But yeah... It seems impossible right now since Jason Bergman is closing his eyes on this.

They do read the forums as they've stated a million times (Avellone even did a small introduction for Lonesome Road on the Beth Blog based on forumspeculation), and they have posted several times as well. Pestering them by sending e-mails to them instead of reporting stuff on the forums isn't gonna change anything.

So they sell this game, they break it and they want us to move on? Brilliant...

No... I didn't meant that. I read your post, but I'm just being melodramatic because I want to play those games so bad and they just don't work. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

So, was anyone else a bit disappointed with Ulysses?

I was hoping for an antagonist (if that's the right word) who'd make me question myself, but Ulysses just came across as a crazy man ranting about history. I confronted him expecting to be presented with some moral dilemma, but when I arrived I had very little problem just gunning him down and stopping his plan. Maybe that was influenced by his thinking I was NCR when I wasn't though.

It wasn't until my next character when I talked him down as a wild card (had to download a mod to get that right) that he stopped seeming so crazy. I found Joshua Graham far more compelling, which was a disappointment after all the build-up to meeting Ulysses.

On an unrelated note, I hate the dusters on a female character. The back's too wide, it clips half way through the arms and looks practically cylindrical from the waist up, plus it makes them look hunch-backed from the side, just like the ranger coats it's based on, but the sleeves on those models hide it a bit. Looks cool from the front, too bad I only ever see that angle in VATs. I ended up sticking with my bounty hunter's duster, too bad because I would've loved to use it.

I really enjoyed the character of Ulysses but yep, he's a broken man in many ways. It flew in the face of my expectations as well but I kinda enjoyed the fact that, while Ulysses has good insight into some things, he has really become a "lost soul" so to speak.
I'm not sure who I'd regard as my fav character in NV but yeah, both Joshua Graham and Ulysses are up there for me.

I think the thing I enjoyed the most about Honest Hearts was the theme of exploring religion and spirituality within the context of Fallout. It's a bit light on interactions but what's there is really well done I think and the whole history of Zion and the tribes is very well put together and definitely not something a player just blazing through would be able to put together.

Thing I disliked the most about Lonesome Road was how they checked your faction allegience. I love the reputation system but it doesn't quite work in this case since it doesn't really reflect a player's motivations for goals. I also downloaded a mod for it which handles things much more to my tastes. It's a bit of a shame since they're some nice variations on the dialogue depending on your faction allegiance... You can even burn Ulysses pretty badly if you're playing a female supporting the Legion.

Just tested a new game again after reinstalling the game on PS3. After 2 hours or so, I reached New Vegas and the lag, slowdowns, screen freezes all started around Freeside. I couldn't even finish G.I. Blues. This shows how much the latest patch broke up the game even more. I had no problem doing that part of Vegas before they released it. That and the DLCs. What were their QCs doing, anyway? Turning their thumbs?

Yeah, I started with the PS3 version and it got to the point where I couldn't play it anymore, really frustrating after just getting Lonesome Road since I'd been waiting so long to play it. So about a week or two ago I re-bought the game and all the DLC for PC. Much better.

... Hope that helps...

I don't own a good graph/video card but I have enough memory for it. I'll just wait for an ultimate edition or something and get it on PC with a better NVDIA card...

Another thing that kind of sucks about NV is there's not really much to run to if you play bad. In FO3, you had Tenpenny Tower at least. In NV you have the dorky, gay frat house(ie. Legion) or pretty much nothing. I followed the Legion abit to see what rewards you get with them compared to the other factions, and it was highly disappointing. A female character really only has one option to go in with NV.
