They could have given us a better mix of companions like with FO3. Most of the companions are anti-legion which doesn't help things any. Need a companion or two that like you having bad karma.

I think Ulysses was originally meant to be a pro-legion companion but he was cut early or something due to time constraints, money problems or someone forgot about him completely

I have finally started down The Lonesome Road! Too early for anything important to have happened but it looks cool so far.

Have fun with it Deathwurm.  I know I did.  Best of luck on the Courier's Mile Image IPB.  Look forward to hearing what you thought of it.

Pffft, Courier's Mile, shooting deathclaws in a barrel if you're willing to exploit the debris they can't climb and just pick them off (which I absolutely am).

The Marked Men in the Courier's Mile were more dangerous to me than the deathclaws. I could just snipe those beasts from the entrance without them noticing anything ^_^

Fortunately the marked men seem to have a problem with the same vantage point, they didn't aggro while I was sniping the deathclaws and, when they did catch on (after a sneak headshot one-hit-killed one of them in front of the rest), a lot of them just lined up at a window and practically let me pick them off (their heads were above the wall but their weapons weren't, which I guess gave them a 0% hit chance because they weren't firing back from meters away). I only killed 3-4 of them 'honestly'.

I love finding exploits in games; gives me a warm, tingly feeling.

So...

I'm not too far in to Lonesome Road yet and I've already got 6 hours or so played. Really dense with things of all sorts to find.

Marked Men are cool. Ed-E is great. 1st "interaction" with Ulysses was interesting.

I know there are Deathclaws coming...

And I am about 99% sure I know the first one that will kill you no matter how sneaky and carefull you are :)

Started a new playthru and my plan is to go thru the DLC in order but have gotten sidetracked with X-men Legends 1 an 2.

Yep!  I actually got very lucky on that one.

But with a couple of others, I wasn't so lucky.

I am not quite done with the 3rd DLC yet, but I know I am going to buy the last one as well. My main concern right now is the ridiculous amount of gear I am carrying around alone. I have been religiously collecting all of the best weapons until now and am feeling just a tad overpowered.

I need to leave most of it behind I guess. Hoping to find some new good weapons for a guns specialist. Something even more overpowered than the .45 named weapons from Honest Hearts and the Survivalist's Rifle :)

For Guns specialists, Honest Hearts was pretty much your holy grail. OWB is for Energy Weapons, and while LR has the Shoulder Mounted Machine Gun it doesn't really do anything other weapons don't do better. I'd recommned getting Gun Runners' Arsenal if you're looking for more goodies on that front - the GRA AM Rifle w/ Explosive .50 rounds is godly, and there's a whole bunch of other great stuff liberally spaced throughout the whole game's progression.

I know where you're coming from with the first bit - I have a tendency to hoard and carry around far more weapons than are strictly necessary (I almost always used all eight hot key spots in FO3 - having only seven inF:NV because of the top one being reserved for swapping ammo types feels limiting ).

OMG... OMG... these Chocodiles... I mean Gun Runners' Arsenal. I love GRA. I bought that and the pre-order weapon collection so I could start a whole new Courier and murder... err... "Liberate" everything that gets in my way in the Mojave. I cannot wait to hit lvl 25 and then start doing the DLCs so I can finally rule... err... occupy New Vegas with an iron-clad powerfist.

I had the same problem due to my play-style...I tend to try to hold onto everything with a name figuring at some point it's going to be THE perfect weapon for a given situation.

I finally had to accept the fact that I just couldn't carry everything. I took the Juryrigger perk at Level 44, so that helped me make some use of the extra weapons and armor.

So far in Lonesome Road (I'm just about to do what is needed to move beyond Hopeville) I've actually found a certain Wild Wasteland-only Energy weapon to be most useful against the Marked Men.

And gang...you're scaring me with the Deathclaw warnings! Image IPB

Hmm did you know the Vikings have been known to Liberate?

So far with GRA I'm "Meh" It really didn't add much af anything new, just rehashes of older weapons with "GRA" stamped on them. I was hoping for upgrades to current upgradeless weapons, and the return of the Chinese Assault Rifle, which you really should have seen in NCR hands to start with, but oh well.

Jury rigging is by far my favorite skill.

But yeah, I have that problem. It does mean I have ridiculous amounts of ammo though.

I am also quite curious about the deathclaws. They aren't all that tough in the standard game. I am actually hoping these are tougher.

So, I'm not sure but I may have found that 1st Deathclaw everyone was betting would off me...

Heard it roar and then found it dead...should've given me an indication that there were more dangerous things around.

I'm really loving the Ulysses Audio Logs and the interactions...he's a bit weird but in a poetic sort of way.

That's the one at the start of the tunnel, right? No, not that one. I survived the first deathclaw first time, ED-E tanked it for me like a beast.

Not so lucky the second time.. silly me.

Trying to have this conversation without Spoilers...but that was the one I meant.

Ran into a few more further on and one actually made me jump! lol

Why? The only reason there were a bunch of them lying around in the Capital Wasteland is because the Chinese apparently had a very large cell operating there before the Great War. The only Chinese presence in the Core Region is the Shi in San Francisco.

Plus, by this point the NCR has moved on to manufacturing weapons and armor anew instead of just scavenging for them.

Well, when your walking the SPOILER, the one that growls and sends chills down your spine as you're busily looting a chest in that SPOILER literally appearing out of nowhere on the roof of the SPOILER, is the one I was sure would get you.  No finding that one dead in my playthrough.  That one swiped ED-E once and he was out of action, I managed to arm my AMR and load incindiary ammo on the quick, then it was just me and him point blank at the doorway of the SPOILER.  He lost that round with two quick rounds to the head in VATS, and as fortune would have it, I was able to shoot the rest from distance while continuing my jaunt along the SPOILER with my scope up.

However, when I went underneath the SPOILER (toward the end of it) to explore a small area, I got jumped by a few tunnelers who were easily dispatched, looted the area, reloaded or crafted something (can't remember now), turned to walk back up to the SPOILER, and I basically got gang raped by two particularly aggressive DCs (who I knew were there as I saw them on my radar, [but thought, wrongfully, that they were safely above on the SPOILER], and that I could deal with them from distance.)  That one didn't turn out so well.  Twice so, as a matter of fact.

Any of that sound familiar?

EDIT: Oh, and Addai67 and I talked about that Deathclaw event back on page 12 if you want the SPOILERS filled in.

Urm, you must have missed the Katana, the Bozar, 25mm Grenade APW, The Nuka Breaker, MFC grenadeMFC Cluster mine, Fat-mine, The Esther Fatman and more.

Also, these "rehashes" are upgradable as well.

and the return of the Chinese Assault Rifle, which you really should have seen in NCR hands to start with, but oh well.

Uh.... no.
New Vegas is not East Coast where the communist Chinese had the biggest presence.
Plus NCR has already their own manufacturers or contracts big big arms dealers

Wow!

I just had to do some SERIOUS Meta-Gaming because I completely missed The Courier's Mile!

I've gone to Walkthroughs for New Vegas less than any other Game I've ever played...I'm glad I checked in this case! Only knew it existed because others had mentioned it.

Yeah yeah, nevermind the chinese sub, named  Shi-Huang-Ti who's survivors made the town of Shi, inside of whats now the NCR, on the west coast, or the fact that there were Chinese soldiers on the west cost and Alaska, and only special forces detachments on the East. Your compleatly right. Or oh that there are two sets of Chinese Stealth Armor suits that can be found from when they tried to blow the dam up during the war....yes silly canon proof...or the fact the AK IS more robust and would have soldierd along with the ****ty M4 and appeared in NCR hands in the earlier games.

As to the top part, yes, I have the Katana, the other weapons I don't care to use as I don't use explosives, have many mininukes, or use a sniper rifle. And yes those weapons have upgrades...I mean I totally didn't mention upgrading the Katana....but you know

Here's a cookie for trying, what ever in the hell it was you were trying and missing my god damn point. Which I'll point out.

I expected a pack that would add in older weapons, or new ideas, like the Chinese AR, or the G3, maybe some new post war weapons. For example the RPG 7, would have been nice to see and a lighter weight alternative to the missile launcher. And uppgrades to weapons that had none which there were several, in place you just get stat modded weapons with upgrades that can't be used on the same type of weapon. So yes I'm not pleased with it, but its not a big deal, least the Katana is useful.

Here's a cookie for you since you apparently had expectations based on completely nothing. Especially since literally 100% of the weapons introduced in GRA were posted on the web before it was released, and I believe that goes for the new ammo-types and weapon mods as well. I guess good job on doing pre-purchase research?

Uh...right. I only said the Chinese had a much more bigger and active presence on the East Coast
(lots of remnants around the Capital, the soldiers in Mama's Dolce, the Spies at the KT8 Broadcast tower or the commandos).

Not to mention the Chinese were repelled at Alaska and didn't get further into the States. The only mention of Chinese forces is the sabotage squads near the Hoover Dam.

Still doesn't change my point. There shouldn't be massive numbers of the Chinese Assault Rifles on the West Coast and it shouldn't be in the "NCR's hands" as you've claimed before.<_<

And the Shi-Huang-Ti? You realize it was a single submarine, not a whole division armed to teeth right? Their descendants became researches, not weapon manufacturers. There would be still barely enough Chinese weaponry to arm a single platoon, lest a big army such as the NCR.
I also don't think the Gun Runners got their hands on them, or else we would see a lot of cheap knock off copies of 'em in the Wastes.
How about you read a bit into the lore before going Santa with the cookies on me? Even though I love cookies.

or the fact the AK IS more robust and would have soldierd along with the ****ty M4 and appeared in NCR hands in the earlier games

The only AK you must be talking about is the AK-112 which is apprently the future counterpart of the massively-produced and sold AK-47. Of Russian origin, not Chinese.
Also, NCR was presented only in 1 game. ;)

Well, that's your problem. All I did was counter-argumenting your accusations of the DLC not having unique weapons, only rehashes with the GRA stamped on them. There may not be many, but they are there.:wizard:

You seriously went ahead and bought it without reading a bit into it? And expected *that*?:o
