Wow!

I just had to do some SERIOUS Meta-Gaming because I completely missed The Courier's Mile!

I've gone to Walkthroughs for New Vegas less than any other Game I've ever played...I'm glad I checked in this case! Only knew it existed because others had mentioned it.

Did you do it yet?

Ummm...honestly?

I got about 3/4's of the way through and had to take a good, hard look at what it cost me...most of my useful Chems, all my Grenades, and my favorite armor was trashed...I decided to go back to before I went there and re-load and skip it. (plus, my computer was getting WAY too hot)

Image IPB Not the bravest thing I ever did, but my risk/reward analysis led me to believe it was the best move. I did kill everything there (or at least, everything I found) but was out of Radaway and kept dying before I could get out.

Learned a few tricks to deal with Deathclaws, though.

That may be the toughest area in any Game I've ever played between the strength of the enemies and the difficulty of finding Landamrks to navigate by.

You know, the only thing I ever wanted back was my Nuka-Grenades. That's just a standard piece of kit for me. There are some great mods in the Gunrunner's Arsenal though. I'll pick it up just for those. Ready to do a second playthrough anyway.

Dude, believe me, I get it.  It's a first class beeotch of an area.  It wasn't so much the enemies, although they are legion, it was that goddam radiation.  I entered and re-entered a few times mainly to explore and loot specific areas, detonate the two warheads that were in there, etc.  I'd leave to heal, consume massive amounts of Rad-Away and go back in.  The loot is worth a slow deliberate operation of explore/leave/heal, explore/leave/heal.  If you pull back to the entrance you're only pulling about +1 Rads/sec, so you don't really have to leave.

I did stay in for extended periods to find all the chests, so I just popped Rad-Away like candy.  As luck would have it, there are chests that have large amounts of Rad-Away to replenish some of your stock.

And yes it's very easy to get turned around.

Great. I was actually a little mad when I voted for W2 without noticing New Vegas there. I would have voted for NV otherwise. Witcher 2 is freakin' amazing but New Vegas was a better RPG on which I almost have 700 hours invested.

Glad Witcher 2 beat dissapointing Dragon Age 2 though but fair is fair.

700 hours?...some of you either have no life, too much free time, ot play one game only for a very very long time.

Not that I'm dissin you, I just don't see how anyone can find that much to do in that game.

For people who mod the game- I seem to have reached some kind of mod limit or something? New ones I add don't show up in the data files list or FOMM. It's a pity since I've gotten used to the mods I have but want to add new ones like New Vegas Bounties. Any suggestions?

I got GRA but haven't used it much.  I bought a Katana but am still using Chance's Knife.  A traditionalist, I guess.

How many mods do you thave? I think it's something like 255 esm/esp files?

In any case, if you use Wrye Flash, you can merge many of your mods to get around this arbitrary limit. When creating the bashed patch, you can see which mods are mergeable, and then you can deactivate those files.

You can get some help doing this here:

If you want to try to max out the most possible winnings, the best approach is to win at blackjack enough to get close to ban limit and then switch to slots, save your game and reload until you get banned from getting three oranges at slots. (20,000 caps payout if you bet 200 caps). So the maximum you can possibly win is whatever the ban limit is (earned from blackjack) + 20,000 caps (earned from slots)

The ban limit ranges from 2500 - 15,000

Vikki and Vance 2,500
Atomic Wrangler 5,000
Gomorrah 9,000
Sierra Madre 10,000
Tops 10,000
Ultra-Luxe 15,000

At the Ultra-Luxe, however, there are no slots, so the highest possible amount you can win is from playing blackjack until you get close to the ban limit and then switching to roulette, which has a maximum payout of 35 to 1. 15,000 caps from blackjack + maximum roulette payout, 200 caps x 35 (7,000 caps), for a total of close to 32,000 caps.

At any rate, I did this during my first playthrough, but I felt that gambling made the game too easy, so I haven't gambled during my subsequent playthroughs, except perhaps a little bit for RP purposes.

Nothing like that many.   Only around 15 or so, and nothing too big, mostly litlte tweaks and some equipment add-ins.  I don't get it.

In that case, you are definitely not over the limit.

I highly, highly recommend Wrye Flash for sorting load order, etc. It will show you all the esm and esp files, whether active or not and is a great tool for diagnosing and fixing any problems. You can right-click on any file and easily see all the otehr esm/esp files it is linked to, and it will let you know if things are in the wrong order..

There is a problem with New Vegas where the date of the file called "FalloutNV.esm" causes it to load in the wrong order. Try moving that to the first file.

Are you sure you just didn't extract them into a wrong folder and such? Happens to me too.

OT: As for the mod limit (pretty sure some people might find this useful):

Gamebryo can take around 255 .esp files. However, it seems that with each new Bethesda title the limit gets lower and lower.
In F3 and NV it's around 150. Cross the line, and you risk making your game go bonkers like this or this.
(More info about it: Max number of Mods thread on Nexus)
BTW: I use little useful plugin myself for merging some simple miscellaneous mods and such.:o

They're in the same Data folder as the other mods that are working... I dunno. I'm stumped. That's not hard to accomplish. lol

Using FOMM I assume? Can you post your load order and tell us what mod were you trying to include? :)

Welcome to the club.

I think the same exactly, so much so that I thought it needed it's own thread on BSN (which has slightly expanded).  I could not believe the sheer weight of content of a single piece of DLC.

How many hours did you spend on Big Mountain?
