No offense, but I wouldn't dare to hire that particular maid :)

Yeah it is a bit of a shame about not being able to become a ranger. At least the Desert Ranger outfit you can find in HH makes you look the part.

Good luck with Dead Money. I think it's a lot better than what I've been reading about it. I don't know what it is about it exactly. You feel a bit exhausted by the end of it, but in a good way. Oh, and then there's the filthy rich part.

As for Elijah, I killed him once. Since then I've left the bastard to rot 3 times. Last time I was kind enough to leave him some blood sausages.

Have you tried Blood Nap? It's like a buffed Chance's Knife.

Haven't tried it, I was rp'ing a Great Khan so she had symbolic reasons to use that knife.

Believe it or not, Companion Menagerie (at least, I think that's the culprit), has allowed me to bring Veronica and Raul into Dead Money. I went to the Abandoned BoS Bunker, with Boone, Cass, ED-E, Veronica and Raul in tow. Walked to the Radio, expecting all of them to be sent home, then woke up with Veronica and Raul with me at the fountain (the others went home)...and they're fully functioning.

Soooo....I backed out to the previous save, loaded all my good gear and weapons onto Raul and Veronica, and was able to move virtually seamlessly into DM. Yeah I know it's contrary to the design, but I figured I completed it as designed the first time, and am just looking to get through it this time. A convenient stroke of luck seems to have allowed that.

We're already at the Gala Event!

Yeah, I've sort of been trying to ignore that possibly inconvenient fact at present. I suppose I could always console command them back if anything goes wrong. So far, so good...but that's usually the first sign of trouble. ;-)

So here I am doing FOR THE REPUBLIC PART 2.

...or not.
I am stuck with the Great Khans and cant do squat, since my quest log wont update, and I cant move the questline forward. Any pointers here?

I am stuck talking to the leader and the quest wont move either way.

Try talking to Papa Khan's second in charge...forgot his name. How you craft the conversation determines whether he might be willing to replace Papa Khan and ally with the NCR. You'll then have to sneak into Papa Khan's room and assassinate him in his sleep. Should do the trick, iirc.

Oh, and I've found a better third person camera fix, having tested several out now.
If interested try: "Another 3rd Person View Camera" @ http://newvegas.nexu....com/mods/38591

This really does the job, off-centering the camera just perfectly.  You can choose over-the-shoulder left or OTS right, and never have your body blocking the reticle if you fire in third-person.  I've been cleaning the Sierra Madre's streets like nobody's business with it.  Don't even have to zoom to 1st.

Oh, and you can still zoom out to the point where you're just a speck on the ground.  This guy did a great job.

So here I was enjoying OWB yet again with no problems with crashes. But deep down I knew it was coming, and oh boy was it ever!

It crashes ALL the time now. I can't quicktravel at all. Fair enough, small area. But it also crashes when entering/exiting buildings. Such a shame really. I want Obsidian to spend more time on testing and bugfixes in general.

I'm currently not quite sure I can make it through OWB. I am likely to be locked inside a building with no way to exit without crashing. I did make it through last time, but I feel like that was almost a miracle.

I don't really even have any good advice for that. I mean, that just sucks. OWB is so incredible as a DLC. They only things I can think of to do are:

Conduct a detailed Google search for a fix (probably already have done that!).
Un-install and re-install (which is a terrible option I know).
Revert to a Mojave save and attempt a re-start.
Search the Nexus for a crash fix. (I thought I remembered seeing something there that addressed various problematic game crashes).

Sorry about the bad luck there. I thought your Courier was maxed on luck. ;)

Got out of Dead Money with the companions I managed to bring in, with all our gear, and more loot than we had any right to. I was sweating it out, knowing full well they shouldn't be there. But, they followed me out, and I was relieved. Ended up killing Elijah on this run. Since I got Christine talking on this playthrough, seemed the right choice.

Had completely forgotten all the foretelling of the show down in the Divide between the two Couriers with the DM companion epilogues. More impact on the second playthrough than the first time through, since you really didn't know much at that point.

Lucky you. Doesn't mean there isn't a problem though, or that I did something wrong. In fact, a quick search for the problem reveals that it is quite common to have crashes in connection with OWB.

I have a theory that it has something to do with the small area in OWB that's just packed with enemies. Perhaps the game can't handle it somehow when there are 2 billion body parts and items on the ground. Would explain why it happened after a while when there were corpses all over the place. It also seems that when the area reset, it stopped crashing.

Not proof of anything of course, but I will try waiting some days in the Sink for a reset next time it happens.

PS:

1. My character has 10 luck. I would guess I have about 2 :)

2. There's a good amount of foreshadowing in OWB as well if you go to Ulysses' Point. There are two audio logs where he talks to Christine about the showdown among other things. Actually, Christine has almost as much dialogue in OWB as she does in Dead Money.

Actually your speculation makes sense. OWB probably has more enemies, body parts, and crap per square meter of game space, than any game I can think of. So, yeah, the game has to track, every eyeball from headshots, every stitch of the plethora of loot that the Courier will have to inevitably drop around Big Mountain just so he/she can continue on, and all the rest, for at least a period of time.   ((EDIT: Oh, and we shouldn't forget the entire Mojave campaign is sitting in memory as well.))

So, makes sense; normal enviromental re-sets would probably go a long way in alleviating alot of the issues that would normally arise because of the sheer volume of things that have to be tracked. Good theory. Let's see if it holds up.

It is possibly a good workaround to remember next time. After the reset, everything went fine for the rest of the DLC.

By the way, the fighting in OWB has to be the toughest in the game, apart from perhaps the Courier's Mile. 10 billion roboscorpions that you can't even tickle with anything but the most powerful weapons, twice as many nightstalkers and of course enemies like the giant roboscorpion and the legendary bloatfly. I love that.

I also noticed how it becomes more difficult at certain levels. All enemies become much tougher after level 30 and suddenly the lobotomites were carrying hunting rifles rather than caravan shotguns.

PS: I still think Obsidian should be better at testing/bugfixing. I have thoroughly enjoyed their games so far, but I don't remember a single one that didn't have loads of bugs. That said though, any Gamebryo limitations are more likely Bethesda's fault.

You know...ED-E sometimes reminds me of a Dalek.

I was walking through Freeside, when suddenly ED-E runs off gunning down muggers left and right.
All it needed was to be shouting EXTERMINATE EXTERMINATE EX- yah you get it.

Still rather odd that the FOLLOWERS turn it into that.

^Walk around with Rex for awhile. Oh, and get him a turbo-charged brain. Just let him loose. He'll chase retreating Legionaires all the way across the map until you get a kill scene half a mile away. He's nuts...I love him.

Don't they all do that? Even when I'm sneaking, if it says "CAUTION", my followers open fire and start chasing down enemies. Which is silly because CAUTION means you have not yet been spotted.

Much like Joshue Graham, I love those .45s. Oh and my favorite ending is the 90 speech one.

In Lonesome Road yet again. I should not have brought high explosive rounds for my AMR with me. I am having a bit too much fun with them and crippling myself in the process. But hey, I needed to get rid of some doctor's bags anyway.

I really like how they beefed up 5mm ammo since the last time I tried it (before the patch that give it -10 DT). Now the minigun actually does serious damage as it should. I would still rather use an assault carbine though because I meet its strength requirement, get the boost from grunt, and because it's a cool weapon.

Still contemplating an explosives/chainsaw build for later. I am not quite convinced it does enough damage though. It mows down easy enemies quickly, but any build does that.

I still use .50 MG Explosive rounds as the default load with my AMR. I just don't equip it as my primary weapon. I wish there was a mechanism that allowed ammo quick changeout. Still use a .308 or 5mm for general walk-about. Works best when I get jumped and have to quick trigger, which is fairly often in HH.

I'll only pull out my .50 cal when sneak attacking. Conserves a fairly scarce resource as well.

My PER is really sucking in HH. I sneak pretty good, but I'm still getting jumped way too much. Guess I got a little too use to ED-E Boone being with me all the time.

BTW, was able to bring Raul with me into HH. Pretty handy dude to have around.

Also, have you played with the MFC Cluster? It's essentially a cluster of 6 MFC Grenades...and...damn!

I actually just learned to craft them in DM. A lot of stuff in Mad Bomber and GRA I had no idea existed until I looked a little deeper. Better late than never I suppose. These, with Nuka-Nades, pretty much cover all of my explosive needs.

Well by default the 2 button switches between ammos. I just wish the game would remember the last ammo I used.

My favorite weapon for general use is the Survivalist's Rifle, but only if you have the Grunt perk. It's quite the monster with it, and it's actually very precise once you realize how to aim with it (it's slightly crooked so it hits around the top right point instead of in the middle). Think of it as a Service Rifle with 3 times the damage and higher durability :)

After that, A Light Shining in Darkness as the perfect sidearm (x2 crit multiplier, good damage, high durability, weighs 1.2 pounds).

For long distance stuff, I use the AMR with match or HE rounds. I love the Medicine Stick too, but the ammo is a bit too rare.

MFC Cluster? Yeah I have definitely noticed it but never had that perk. If I do go for a non-crit explosives/Heavy Handed build, I am definitely getting that one. The cool part is how easy it is to find Microfusion cells late game. I mean I have made no effort to buy them and have thousands currently. That's a heck of a lot of cheap grenades!'

For an explosives build, you definitely need grenade rifles as the supplies of most other things are fairly limited. But MFC grenades/clusters are going to help.

Finally made it to Big Mountain, I just went through the cutscene and patted my self down to make damn sure I had all of my very well though out kit on my back...yyyyyeeep! I'm good. I'll be off to talk to the Lunatics...err...I mean...the good doctors, in the Think Tank in the morning.

So many companions made it through on this attempt, I'm actually going to have to leave a couple behind in the Sink as I venture out on forays, and alternate them in the line up. The one constant companion throughout the DLCs thus far is my main man Raul. Totally under-rated companion. Pretty deadly with a pistol (12.7mm) or shotgun (Mosserg 590), and he definitely prefers the shotgun. Cass and Veronica are also along for this one.

Man, I've waited this entire playthrough (currently at 222 hours) for this. Old World Blues awaits!

Underrated? Really? 75% slower weapons deterioration (I always go for Full Maintenance) AND he's still deadly? Yes please.

Raul and ED-E are my favorite companions by far. ED-E is also a lot better after Lonesome Road (+beam damage, +DT, +accuracy, can repair weapons for free, can give you free ammo).

Yeah, all I hear from a lot of players I associate with is "Boone swoon" (I mean he is awesome), but Raul and Veronica have gotten quite a bit of face time during this playthrough, and I've realized my small world of Cass, ED-E and Boone was probably a little too narrow.

Having Companion Menagerie has actually helped me "get to know(?)" them better. I did give Veronica Vera's Dress, and she acknowledged it. Didn't do that before. Pretty funny actually.

BTW, I went back into Zion, after supporting Daniel's retreat, just so I could go through Three Mary's. There were still a few White legs about, but wow, was it quiet...too quiet. Did find a few bits of loot I had missed and retrieved some crafting items I had stashed. But just, creepy quiet.

Well, the Think Tank awaits!
