@Reaper, play the DLCs. They are essential, and one of the major attractions of FONV. You will be glad you did.

Yeah WRP is pretty good, and so is EVE. However if you use FOOK and/or WMX there might be some issues with WRP's retextures. There's a mod that isn't exactly about visuals but includes a little of everything, even cut content, its called New Vegas Enhanced Content, its sort of a mod compilation with a lot of other things included, even things that hinder crashing and other problems with FNV.
Yep. Already looked at EVE and put it in the queue. I have WMX on already and DO NOT want that messed with. So if there's even a possibility of incompatibility with WRP, I'll pass on that one. WMX is probably my favorite mod.

I use WMX and WRP together, no problems. Just make sure you get the compatibility patch. WME also has one, if you're interested in checking that out.
Yeah, usually if you just use WMX and WRP there's no issues, besides if there is any is just some texture that looks crooked, it won't cause CTD. Although, I am having some problems with the Riot Shotgun and Marksman Carbine and their respective textures with WRP, I believe WMX is causing thos problems but I think FOOK is also behind it, just a warning though. There shouldn't be any problems between WMX and WRP because there's a compatibility patch.
As for WME, there's a patch but its not up to date so there will be texture conflicts in that case, WME looks better than WMX but it has been abandoned for a long time so I wouldn't recommend it.

Now, I'm not going for lush, and am purposefully backing off of the higher end files, but I am looking for more color and a tad more realism for immersive purposes. I'm starting to get there. NS and WF look good and work really well together.
Now to look at EVE and Project Nevada.

Now, I know wandering merchants get caught up in the fighting sometimes, and if they get killed, which they usually do, they respawn. Do merchants trading from set locations respawn? Since these are named characters, are they're just plain dead, and the G n' G is out of business for the rest of the game?
I just don't recall ever seeing this happen before, so was just wondering.

Well, I've got EMCs Texture Pack, Nevada Skies and Wasteland Flora on. No problems whatsoever at this point, and the game is starting to take shape.

Is that the lush Wasteland Flora or the regular version? I'm thinking of maybe giving the former a whirl if I don't install Winter Wonderland again. Either way it looks good.

Might as well post this here: Project Brazil, a massive New Vegas mod, is being released on Friday.
Nice, I've been looking forward to that. Anything to add more quality questlines to the game. Hopefully I won't need to deactivate any other plugins to fit it into the load order.

As much as I enjoy this game and as many hundreds of hours I've put into it, Obsidian really do go overboard with the word count at times... especially Old World Blues with it's hour and a half introduction... it raised Obsidians wall of text tradition to new levels, and I felt like I'd walked into the middle of one of those weekly Giantbomb podcasts... I'm totally okay with that duration of non-interaction during a movie, but I can enjoy about 1/2 an hour of quality dialogue and non-interaction before I slowly get impatient.
Dead Money is the same, at least if you start asking Elijah about everything. I think that is better, honestly, for example in Skyrim there's a lot of times when there should be a choice in what to say but there isn't and it feels out of character depending on what it is that you are playing.

What is that Project Brazil mod about? Someone is always saying something about it, anywhere that NV mods are mentioned.
It's a prequel set in Vault 18, 21 years before New Vegas. Though from the hour I played, the story isn't related to that of New Vegas's.

What I'm looking for from you guys is any particularly good character builds you have. I want to use guns and speech for sure with probably science as my other main skill. But I'm really open to suggestions for attributes, skills, and perks to use. Throw out some recommendations please!

Well, my Ultimate Edition (360, no PC mods for me sadly) that I ordered for $9.99 off the Microsoft Store just came in. Time to start up another playthrough that will include all the DLC this time.

I don’t claim to have any sort of monopoly on the type of build you want, but offer a few considerations.
The primary SPECIAL stats that should concern you are:
Charisma
Intelligence
Agility
Luck
So build them up as priorities. You can buy up to 9 points (with high Endurance) in SPECIAL attributes with implants, so don’t forget them as options to supplement your normal leveling up points.
Guns perks you should pay attention to (you won’t be able to get them all with the other recommended perks to build the character you want, as well as taking a few points in intense training, so prioritize according to your own play style). Allotting these is a function of what type of weapons you prefer (shotguns, rifles, pistols), as well as how dependent you are on VATS. I broke these up into loose groups.
Shotgun Surgeon (When using shotguns, regardless of ammunition used, you ignore an additional 10 points of a target's Damage Threshold)
And Stay Back (Shotguns have a 10% chance, per pellet, of knocking an enemy back)
Cowboy (+25% damage done by dynamite, hatchets, knives, revolvers, and lever-action guns)
or
Grunt (25% more damage with 9mm pistols and SMGs, .45 pistols and SMGs, service rifles, assault and Marksman carbines, light machine guns, frag grenades, grenade rifles and launchers and combat knives)
Bloody Mess (+5% overall damage; more violent death animations)
Critical Chance/VATS:
Better Criticals (+50% damage with critical hits)
Action Boy/Girl (+15 Action Points)
Gunslinger (+25% accuracy in V.A.T.S. with one-handed weapons)
Commando (+25% accuracy in V.A.T.S. with two-handed weapons)
Finesse (+5% Critical Chance)
Sniper (25% more likely to hit the target's head in V.A.T.S.)
Nerves of Steel (20% faster AP regeneration)
Math Wrath (Reduces all AP costs by 10%)
Grim Reaper's Sprint (A kill in V.A.T.S. restores 20 AP immediately)
You have to have some repair ability as a guns character, and definitely need to hand load some of your better ammo, so I throw these two in for serious consideration:
Jury Rigging
Hand Loader
General Perks good for all characters:
Swift Learner
Here and Now
Tag! (Tag a fourth skill- in your case, maybe Repair(?), since you’re most likely going to tag guns, speech and science up front)
Explorer
Toughness 1
Toughness 2
Strong Back
Long Haul
For me, I usually select Explosives as my other Tag skill outside of Guns, Repair and Lockpicking, so many of my alotted points go there; I usually just Speech up as I can.
