When I get back to my other run, I'll start with Moira's WSG. I already did the radiation part (easy), but I'm not looking forward to the Super Duper mart. Not while I'm still only level 2 or 3. Minefield, either, tbh.Addai67 wrote...
I always do Moira's quests first, and get Dogmeat while he's still useful.
I miss FO3. You guys maka me weep.
And I need to get Dogmeat.
I think I might head to DC to recruit Charon, this time around. I had Fawkes in my other runs, and noticed that there was a terribly annoying "bounce" while running, while he's in tow. It's like the camera keeps adjusting to his fat butt.
Also, my hubs recruited Charon, based on my advice (stuff I'd heard from you guys), and he just thinks he's the bee's knees. He put him in power armor, so his voice sounds super funny.

Dogmeat is fairly invincible at high levels, so I've always found him useful, although I like to use all the companions and exchange them depending on the region.

I still have bad memories of trying to keep Dogmeat alive while fighting that SM Behemoth outside of Galaxy News Radio. The behemoth completely ignored my pc, and went right for Dogmeat the whole time. It was a comedic cycle of Dogmeat attacking, getting knocked down, and me applying a Stimpak. Rinse and repeat. I have no idea how we survived that debacle.
Poor Dogmeat. I remember fighting the behemoth with the WE mod and hard settings while I had crippled limbs, low strength and a fat man. It was a good day.

Good thing I can mod in some of that functionality. I added in CALIBR to extend more options for ammunition (7.62 x 51, .416 and .50 cal are particularly useful
But FO3 really shows on replay how limited it is in crafting functionality. I craft two things, and two things only: Nuka Nades and Bottlecap Mines. That's about it.

What I wouldn't do to be able to make weapon repair kits. And chems.
Crafting in FO3 is behind the times. Kinda like Oblivion, compared to Skyrim. But I suppose it's to be expected. Onward and upward!

And while I'm asking for stuff, I would love it if my characters could be Skyrimized, cc-wise. In FO3 and NV, they're kind of...well, they're not great, tbh. The character creator and body models are limited. Some movements are pretty jerky. Jumping is laughable, especially if you're in front of an invisible wall that you can't climb, but should be able to.
But alas, here I am nitpicking. I will gladly atone for that, upon confirmation of Fallout 4.

EDIT: But they do have to walk a fine line and find the right balance between improving the game visually and functionally and maintaining that old world feel and look.

Well, I'm gonna go for it then. I'm trying to discover all the locations anyways. So why not look for some radioactive nuka-cola.
Absolutely. If you haven't used Nuka Grenades in FO3, they are pretty much your Go To Explosive when you really need it. You do need some points in Explosives though, and definitely take the Demo Expert perk. They do massive immediate splash damage, and I recommend throwing them in VATS as you can hurt yourself...bad.
The Quantum Chemist (Broken Steel) perk will allow you to make Nuke Nades with regular Nuka Cola (10 of them).
As you can see, they make short work of one of the toughest enemies in the game (and yes, I had to throw more than one in this case):

Needless to say, there is big-time collateral damage (which can work for you...or against you):

Taking the Adamantium Skeleton and Toughness perks will significantly reduce any damage you might try to deal on yourself
Yes, I like Nuka Grenades if you couldn't tell.

I'm fuzzy on the details but you can get 2 of those schematics without doing that quest, and end up better off by the end.Barbarossa2010 wrote...
^Nuka Nade schematic. Hell yes!
Gotta love sending people to hell in a haze of purple cola.
