I'm still finding new stuff! Would you believe that this is the first time I actually went into the National Guard Armory/Bunker? Or the cave in Rockopolis? I had no idea either was there. Seeking out bobbleheads has sent me to places I probably wouldn't have gone, otherwise. Although admittedly, I'm procrastinating on the Dunwich Building...maybe with Fawkes, it won't be such a big deal. I still have the Bethesda ruins, too...

*SNIP*

I beeline it to the National Guard Armory as soon as I am capable enough. DAT LOOT!!!...even if its in terrible condition.

Question is: Did you make it into the bunker though? I finally got all of the Keller family holotapes a few nights back and got in.

Just cleared Dunwich Building Sunday night...all that kept coming at me were Reavers...and I was by myself...on Very Hard...it was un-fun. But that actually is a cool (and extraordinarily sad) story told through the holotapes you find there as that poor bastard starts turning into a feral. It was one of those, 'I'm glad it's over' sort of things when I finally walked out.

So last night, to make myself feel better, I headed straight to Paradise Falls (after failing the little punk mayor's speech check in Little Lamplight - failed it with a 69% chance and didn't want to reload and cheat) to wipe out Eulogy Jones and his slaver minions.  That was awesome...and still yet more great loot!

I didn't even know about the Keller holotapes, until I looked up why I couldn't get into the bunker. All that way, just to find I couldn't get into it. Blah. Time to run around like a crazy woman, I guess!

I don't think I've actually cleared the Dunwich Building with a follower. The one time I went in there, I was alone, and it was before Broken Steel. Hooray, I have reavers to look forward to! I will bake Fawkes a cake or something when it's all over.

I don't know what I've done in Little Lamplight, tbh. It's on my map, as is Paradise Falls, but I can't remember if I wiped out the slavers, or did any speech checks in LL. Sad, huh? That's what I get for picking up an old save. I have Speech maxed, and have Child at Heart now, so I might have to see.

With Child at Heart you should get through MacCready without having to save the kiddos from Paradise Falls. I couldn't afford Child at Heart, so that ought to pay off for you.

Well, I cleared the Dunwich Building, and it wasn't too bad. Then again, I'm playing on Normal difficulty. Not many reavers.

Just picked up a Deathclaw Gauntlet schematic from the nearby campground. Good thing for Animal Friend, or I would have felt terribly guilty about having to kill all those Yao Guai.

I think I'll head to the Bethesda Ruins, for the next bobblehead.

^ Yep, that's where Dogmeat is in this run, for me. It was just too much of a battle trying to keep him alive, and as it is, he's keeping my bot company. With Fawkes, I don't really need the extra support, anyway.

Even if he wasn't there already, I think after that Desmond quest in Point Lookout, I would immediately have sent him home. Poor Geri and Freki. This is no place for dogs.

On a total sidenote, I did the Oasis quest last night, and remembered another aspect of why I love FO3 so much. The permanent bonuses/perks you get from certain quests - in this case, Barkskin. Also Ant Sight/Ant Might (Those!), Rad Regeneration and Survival Expert (Wasteland Survival Guide) etc.

I killed the Queen on this run just to see what she'd drop (underwhelming!) and Lesko got quite upset and bailed on me, so I didn't get Ant Might. I made the decision, so I went ahead stood by it. But I did complete the main quest last night and just hit level 30 with one additional perk to take.

It came down to Quantum Scientist or Almost Perfect. I went with Almost Perfect figuring raising all of my SPECIAL stats to 9 would prove more valuable through the DLCs than a limitless supply of Nuka Nades. I figured I can make three per Quantum anyway, and currently have a stash of about 60 at present, so I won't be running out anytime soon.

I do need to do Oasis and get Barkskin. I already have Toughness and Adamantium Skeleton, but an additional 5% DR isn't going to hurt (bad pun intended).

I believe in this run, I got Ant Sight. Did you fail the speech check with Lesko?

I'm going with Almost Perfect; I'm just a couple of ticks away from level 30, myself. I collected the balance of the bobbleheads last night, so many of my SPECIAL stats at 7 or 8 anyway, so what the heck. There aren't any other perks that I'm just dying to have, that I don't already.

Oasis was much easier than I'd remembered. In my mind, there were a gazillion mirelurks and kings, but there were far fewer in reality. And with my Plasma Rifle, they went down quick. Thank goodness for Alien Epoxy. Somehow in my other run, I never realized what that was good for. Derp. Fixing your weapons!

I still need to sell the Alien Crystals I've been carting around. Thankfully, they don't weigh anything.

I took Charon into Dunwich Building a couple of times and got the bejeezus scared out of me when I'd come around a corner and he was standing there. Good times.

^ Fawkes did the same thing. There seems be a lot of stuff for them to get stuck on in that building. I'd say a majority of the time, Fawkes wasn't able to follow me. He'd be stuck on a previous level, running in place. Then I'd go around the corner, like you said, and boom! there he'd be.

The timing was perfect - it would usually be right after I'd hear a ghoul making sounds, so I'd be in VATS before I realized it was him. Posted Image

Failed the speech check and had a science score of (what?) 22 or so. Pathetic actually. Honestly, I never kill the queen. I don't know what got into me this time other than curiosity. Lesson learned: don't kill the queen if you are sitting at no better than a 50% chance on speech or have a pathetic science score. Sure, you can reload. I typically don't, and let the game play out warts and all.

That's always fun. Doesn't Grouse call you 'reverend' when you condemn slavery in your initial conversation? I remember finding it amusing at the time, but I usually get Clover before the massacre so it's a little hazy at the moment. It's unfortunate Three Dog doesn't comment on the LW wiping out the hub of slavery in the Capital Wasteland; he only seems to comment on the LW heading to Paradise Falls.

Yeah, and he told me 'you don't look like you belong here,' or words to that effect, since my LW was high Karma. I was really pushing his buttons to try and turn him hostile, but he wasn't having any. Of course, he dismissed me, so I was forced to just shoot him down.

Little did I know, (according to the wiki) that if I'd just approached him one more time and started preaching, he'd turn instantly hostile. Eh, either way works for me, I just figured I'd give him a shot to start the inevitable fight between us and remain the good guy...high Karma has no use for Paradise Falls. It works way better as a loot trove anyway. ;)

Ah Paradise Falls.

One of the few times were wiping out a settlement is not only fun but heroic.
First time I EVER used a minigun.

It may have not been enough but it was nearly enough DAKKA.

That was the most fun I had in a while, since I'd been slugging it out with Overlords and Reavers the last few nights. Slavers? Pffft. Just a bunch of meat sacks for the rigorous exercise my Bloody Mess perk!

Clearing out Paradise Falls is always fun.

Now, I'm looking for the rest of the Behemoths. I must have missed one somewhere. It was almost laughable, how Fawkes took that one down in Evergreen Mills. He actually died standing up, leaned against a building. Immediately following, Fawkes expressed how fun it was, so who am I to deprive him of such joy?

After that, I'm thinking about heading into The Pitt.

Edit: ok, the Behemoth in Evergreen Mills was a sissy. The ones with fire hydrant weapons are stronger.

Yeah, the one at Jury Street Metro is a ninja. Look for the Teddy Bear in a shipping crate or something along the rail line leaving out of Evergreen Mills heading east toward JSM...Boom...two in a row!...after you take out the one in EM.

Takoma Park is the only other one that's not so easy to get to. In fact, I'm getting ready to head through the metro gate now to get him.

EDIT: This was Mr. Jury Street Metro coming at us while we were admiring his teddy bear a few nights ago.

And yeah, my rifle was in really bad shape by this time!

You're going to bake Fawkes a cake? Well, suit yourself, but I still haven't forgiven him for the vanilla version of Fallout 3's ending, where he tells Lyons and the Wanderer that he could go into Project Purity and enter the code so none of them have to die, but he doesn't want to.

Ok, I just got the achievement, and all the Behemoths are dead.

The first one I took out tonight was the Jury Street one, then the Takoma one - I had actually never been there before, so that was cool. I softened him up with the missile strike. Last was the one in the Capitol Rotunda, which I used the turret on, until he busted it, then it was pretty much over.

I felt awful, because there was some Enclave turds outside the Capitol, that unleashed their Deathclaw on me. Little did I realize, but he was a friendly. I stopped shooting at him, and he started following me around. Then I started hearing this beeping sound. 'What's that?' I wondered, and was answered by the sound of the Deathclaw dying. Crap. Sorry, buddy.

Heck yeah, I baked Fawkes a cake! He's a champ! That whole endgame thing was fine - I just looked at it as him gently nudging me to do the right thing. Destiny, and all.

I'll have to save The Pitt for tomorrow.

Awesome. Great Achievement. Look at that, we were chewing some of the same ground together tonight. We just wiped the Behemoth in Takoma Park as well. Artillery strikes, then finished him with a Nuka barrage...he didn't stand a chance.

I see the both of you are still apprentices.

Real men take out Behemoths (and everything else) with their bare hands. Unarmed built w/ Paralyzing Palms. Powerfists/gauntlets optional for the everyday combat encounter, but Behemoths always barehanded. It's the only way!

I'm sorry, but I had just hoped that the Wanderer's desiny was something a little more impressive than comitting suicide just because Fawkes said it was his time.

Yeah, seriously, what was up w/ that? Was it somehow an inconvenience to Fawkes to go into the deathly radioactive chamber that he is immune to start the purifier? That's almost like those eagles from the LotR series.
