Going to Zion Park? Sounds like a plan!

Is this 'Nevada Skies' mod just a nuclear sand storm or you can actually see the stars and constellations (awesome things in night sky)?

Like the man said, it adds a lot of weather effects and even some weather-related perks. It's quality stuff.

^ Cool. I downloaded 'Nevada Skies' and it's awesome. I haven't seen any storm yet. The Night is too dark. A lamp mod would be nice... "ELECTRO CITY"!

I also got 'Fallout Character Overhaul': a texture pack mod for hair and face. It ain't bad but looks weird...

Any recommendation or comment on 'Project Nevada'?

And there is a weapon mod and cloth mod I want to share:
The hires texture mod for clothing looks awesome:

but the gun texture mod is meh:

I don't run Project Nevada, but have heard nothing but good things. It is a big overhaul, so make sure you want all of those options for combat, etc, before you do it.

Yeah, some weapon texture mods are pretty meh. I don't really use vanilla weapons anymore, outside of the .50 MG, so most of my weapons (19 and counting) have their own meshes and textures anyway. But, there are individual textures available for most of the in-game weapons. Maybe only adding those that you use the most might be an option?.

@Kaiser:

Here's a couple of my older shots that are close-ups, to give you a flavor of some of the custom modded weapons and their meshes/textures:

There are many, many more. Just search in the Weapons categories. There are vanilla weapons that have been overhauled, as well as just about anything else you could want.

^ No repair for me. Consider I cheated the Vegas entering license with the help of Mike & Ralph, helped The Kings to get rid of NCR in their territory and got my hunting rifle from a NCR soldier's dead hand, you can realize that I don't spend much and save the caps for expensive stuff.
Funnily, for those deeds I did for the King I got one of their King of the cool jackets, plus a haircut!

Fallout 3 - Broken Steel question:

Have you seen a red & white light triangle in front of Project Purity console?!
When the game ends and two weeks passes I become a dead meat under a bed and the only thing I could do is to make noises by pressing 'E'.
I loaded my old save before ending (at level 17) to try my DLCs I've recently got and that happened.

And for the lulz:

Man, I live and die by repair. Crafting Weapon Repair Kits usually nets me quite a bit of money fixing up looted weapons...and of course my own equipment (and certainly Boone's--I get a .50 cal in his hands as soon as I am able) is usually in top shape so I can deal maximum damage. I'm like you though, I don't spend it unless I absolutely need it. I'm a hoarder big time. The game provides more than you'll ever need.

And cheating your way into the front gate is the only way to enter Vegas! :)

Edit: And ,No, I haven't encountered that Broken Steel bug.

You can just repair by using other weapons. Or is that a no-no since those other weapons can be sold? Or are we talking about the 'before' picture of that repair anything with anything perk?

Certainly you can repair with others, but with WRKs you can repair everything you pick up (not armor of course) and make a ton, instead of losing the profit potential of that one weapon that is in terrible condition applying it to repair another of the same type. Not really a no-no, by any means, just waste of profit potential. My own personal quirk really.

Instead of selling back one varmint rifle in moderate condition repaired with the 2 other crap varmint rifles you're carrying. Sell all 3 of them in top condition...if you have the weapon repair kits to do it. It takes a while to build up a good supply, and you need a Repair score of 50 to even make them.

And Jury Rigging is one of the most useful perks for the hoarder/repairer...of course you need a Repair score of 90 to qualify for it.

What I'd really like is to open my own shops, stocked by loot and repair, with a real economy that forces me to price competitively or folks won't shop. There are mods that do it, but they're lacking for what I want to do. Always wanted to open a chain of "Courier's Pawn." Maybe next game.

I personally don't build characters that have enough strength to actually carry enough loot to make it worthwhile. Strength has always been my dump stat in Fallout games. I also don't honestly find a use for caps over a certain point, but that's just YMMV.

That sounds like the kind of thing an entire game needs to be built around. Sounds fun, don't get me wrong, just like an intense amount of work, even for a mod.

Yeah, it is a lot of work. And if you've seen the mods, while they've plowed tons of time into making them, they're really just not worth the effort unless someone just wants to play house.

But then again, I think you're right, trying to build those mechanics would take a ton of work. It'd still be pretty fun to expand mercantile and barter skills into something more than just lowering prices slightly, or raising them on a sale, for every point you put into it; or as a conversation check. Eh, wishful thinking.

I never buy repairs until I've got so many caps that it doesn't matter- but I always keep my weapon in top shape. That's why I noticed it right away, heh. It's tougher with energy weapons. A modified laser rifle is my weapon of choice in this game and there are very few of them around, and Jury Rigging doesn't let you use plasma rifles or Laser RCWs instead. So I have to use my weapon kits for that.

Raul's perk makes a significant difference in how long your repairs last.

I'm doing Old World Blues now. It's a lot easier now that I know what I'm in for. Also a science character helps a lot. I love sneaking up behind robots and putting them to sleep. I figure my character grew up with a father who was a robotics junkie, and hates to destroy the Old World tech when she could just disable it and then play around in the guts herself (rp-wise, that is).

Re roleplaying a trader- originally we were supposed to get a brahmin companion, that would have been great for a merchant rp.

Yeah, that's where I was coming from with a merchant character, as I remembered we were looking through the cut content.

OWB with a Science character ought to be a breeze. Well, a breeze outside of combat. Disabling robots--now that's something I ought to consider. My current Courier is currently science/IN challenged, but he's getting ready to get implants.

Of course, I can hardly keep my game running now. I'm seriously considering wiping and re-installing. I'm going through my mods now, to see what I want to re-install later.

Any advice? I really don't mind starting over fresh.

You mean, right at the start of Goodsprings? Would the Brahmin basically have been a pack mule?

Sounds like a messy surprise.

When it came to handling the Legion, I preferred bidding my time. Let the Legion admire you, gift you with a safe house and a plethora of cash and 'forbidden' equipment and weapons, and basically fund your operations in the Mojave until you're ready to purge the Fort of the Legion. As though your Courier was the nameless samurai of Yojimbo, using the the war between the NCR and the Legion to his own benefit.

No kidding. I never thought of doing anything so elaborate. That's awesome.

In my most recent run, I did everything anti-Legion, before killing Benny. Then all was forgiven. Unfortunately, I'd forgotten about Nipton, so I was once again on their hit list. Sided with NCR, btw. I'm still a little nervous about siding with anyone else, as I'm not sure how to get the best outcomes for everyone. Is that even possible if you side with House, or the Legion?

Not sure what the slides say, but I think that sidding with Mr. House may well be the best outcome for humanity. As much as he's kind of an insane megalomaniac, the NCR seems to be repeated the same mistatkes that the 'old world' countries did. House is a superlative genius. He was 24 hours away from saving Vegas from the nuclear holocaust entirely.

Someone always loses in every outcome. With House, I believe it's the Kings. With NCR, it's the Great Khans and Followers. I don't remember the exact details.

My favored outcome is probably House. My current character might do independent just because I've never done it before. But it seems a waste to kill such a resourceful man, who will probably be around even after the Courier dies. The indie ending reminds me too much of what Chief Hanlon says about Caesar- that he decided to shape the tribes after his own ways of doing things.

Siding with the NCR seems like the "good" thing to do, but so many people stress that the NCR only wants the resources and will bleed the land dry, and that it's over-extended and that will ultimately be its downfall. Siding with House, there is still trade between the Mojave and NCR, which I think is a better outcome for both.

Eddie has a good point about House being part of the Pre-War industrial complex that doomed the world, and that human strength is the only way to get civilization back. But unfortunately he's decided to do that through slavery, terror, and eugenics. So, boom he goes.

Hey Raul, nobody likes a smartass.

House was kind of a looker back in the day. But apparently he preferred sex bots.  Is that Liberty Prime behind him?

I love these little guys.

Why in the world was the Nuka Grenade recipe changed from Quantum to Quartz in New Vegas? Is this just another one of those things that Obsidian went completely overboard on like GRA and the resultant weapon mod issues; or was it an oversight that they haphazardly threw it in and simply wanted to find a use for Quartz other than PC effects like Cateye or increased DT?

I just took Mad Bomber and forgot all about it. I've been hoarding tin cans, turpentine, Abraxo and QUANTUM this whole run just ready to make a huge batch. I just finished FO3 and have been running on habit. Gaaahhh!

Yeah, yeah, I know Quartz was only common in the Southwest, but Quantum is there as well. Why can't I use Quantum as an alternate? Frustrated.
