<_< I am a firm in game supporter of the Legion; Not only because it usually makes sense for my more...Utilitarian Couriers but also for my more Mercenary Orientated Couriers because Caesar pays SO much better then House or the NCR.

Besides there is just something...Driven about the Legion; Although i do fear for the day when Caesar dies, at best they might end up with some one who of capable vision and leadership abilities but at worst you could see it dissolving into infighting while the territories break down back into their barbarism.

I just got in to Zion, and am wandering around with Follows-Chalk. Is there some way to know which peaks he'll uncover parts of the map for you on? Or did I totally misunderstand that?

Last time, I didn't have him around long enough to really figure it out.

Edit: well, I found one of those cliff locations, yay! It added three locations to my map. Only...12 left to go?

And I just spoke with Maven, inside Angel Cave. 'You show respect, owslander!' :P

I thought it worked when you went to any high ground. If there were discoverable locations nearby, then they would show up. Don't recall exactly though.

If I recall the peaks that have the Ranger Stations on top are the ones to go for.  Not 100% on that though.

Been a while since I done this DLC.  The first time I played I was getting shot at so much during that initial ambush I wasn't taking any chances and shot Chalk without realising it.  I mean they had anti-material rifles!!! Crazy!

Anyway took  me about an hour to figure out that the whole of Zion was hostile to me when all the NPC's came charging in and my only quest was to get the map out the canyon :P  When I shot Daniel it clicked that I messed up so started again :innocent:

I didn't especially like the options for the Khans. What I really wanted them to do was chill (i.e. not behave like imperialists or take jobs like, well, assassinating me). However, if I tell them that their history-based aspirations are a dead end, they deliberately go and get themselves killed in a suicide attack. And if I encourage them, it seems at least questionable as to how they'll treat people in the new lands they leave to explore.

The Great Khans reconnect with the Followers, so I was optimistic about their new future.

I was half tempted to tell Raul to make me a Taco the first time i encountered him.

I then was pleasantly surprised with him being capable maintaining my gear longer then it would last normally which is even better then taco's if not by much.

@Crash - Yeah, I'm pretty sure Follows-Chalk got his share of friendly fire the first time I did the DLC. I was still in the, 'oh, crap, everyone is dead!' mode, that I assumed he was going to start shooting at me, too. After all, some of the White Legs that ambushed us were marked as friendlies, despite shooting at me! This time, I actually witnessed him killing the White Legs straggler he was close to.

I'm clear on how those summits work now. There are six, and I've got two out of the way. I think I'll keep Follows-Chalk a bit longer than I did last time. I'm going to try to find all the map locations, too, as I missed many before. I also plan to make myself some gecko-backed armor, dang it. :)

And p.s., I'd forgotten about the ninja Cazadores. Yao Guai I can handle, but them? Even the flaming one was easier than those things!

The game already shows oyu what happens to the Legion if he dies and you helped them. It's not an assumption when people say the Legion will fall apart in the future, it's a fact.

Lanius was far more brutal and exacting upon the Mojave in that ending but i didn't glean from it that the Legion would disintergrate under him; He was a capable field commander and respected and feared through out the Legion but he wasn't Caesar he wouldn't be winning any news in future conquests he would be doing a lot of killing, and making examples of profiligates...even more so then usual.

That said Lanius presents something unique within the Legion given that he holds no love for its members, ideals or even its eventual goal. He fights solely for Caesar.

Which would make the Legion under him something possibly diffrent then it was under Edward if he could maintain it, And considering the Legion anoited him Caesar they are willing to follow him.

The Khans are no worse than the four families were. It's odd you can't enlist them to help build up an independent Vegas. They're no worse than the Omertas, certainly.

I actually like the Khans. Primarily because of Papa Khan. My Courier hated assassinating him, but he thought the NCR would make him a Ranger for independent action and improvising solutions in their favor.

Yeah...that really worked out for him.

Anyway, they would have made great enforcers for an independent New Vegas. The Kings? Pfft. The Khans, most definitely.

You know what is great about early game in New Vegas?

How exciting the gun fights are.
Like fighting in the Bison Casino and popping out to nail another bandit.

Late game kinda moves away from that.

Yeah, early on limited ammo, weaker weapons and stats made the game tactical at times.  "I only have twenty 9mm rounds, do I really want to go into this area?"...

As soon as you hit Vegas and can earn thousands of caps and have access to pretty much unlimted weapons and ammo the game losses its early game charm.  The Silver Rush was obscene in its availability to high powered guns. Its still good late game, but gone is that carefull element you once had.

Ahh. the good old loot overflow problem.

Ever played FO3 with FOOK 2?

The amount of weapons I dropped in favour for keeping better/more expensive weapons with me is astounding ... and of course nearly all of those are repaired the maximum of my abilities. Whenever I go on a longer exploring route, I run out of carrying capacity around a third of the planned way and have repaired all those weapons to maximum condition by half the planned way. From then on I either teleport back to sell everything, or later when I already am stocked up with caps, just drop them.

I swear, Lucky Harrith would have a better arsenal and for free if he just discreetly followed my weapons trail ...

I've been trying to roleplay more on loot drops. Instead of robbing every safehouse and cache blind, I take only what I can use for the short term, and try to put stuff I don't need back in. Survivalist rules. It's not much sacrifice since I still have wanton excess in my pack.

^ I've been doing that same thing too. I always leave heavy weapons and pistols (I prefer range). But I always take ammo, casings, etc. That stuff doesn't weigh anything, so with Hand Loader and Vigilant Recycler, I don't feel too bad about it.

Now if someone else came along and needed it, well, too bad, I guess. Hehe.

I used to just run into that place, like a ******, shooting at anything that moved. Now, I'm pretty much able to sneak in, hack the computer, loot the room and safe, stealth snipe, go in the back way, rescue Beagle, and head out.

In this run, I went back to the Bison Steve, after making Meyers sheriff, and found to my dismay that all of the escaped cons were dead. Downstairs, upstairs, just dead. And here I was wanting a little xp. Oh well, looty looty!

Anyone else find it amusing that Benny and the Courier make a totally different trip to Vegas from the start?

Benny leaves only enemies and people who dislike him behind
The Courier can make allies and leave friends behind themselves...if they want.

I like that Goodsprings, Primm, and Outpost Mojave are all doing better after you leave.

As I see it, the first part of the Couriers jhourney is not only getting to Benny but creating her/his own power base of allies and friends. If dojne right you can have alot of allies and three companions by the time you get to the strip, four if you go to Crimson first and even five if you head to Black Mountain first too.

This sets up the second stage of the game where you have to decide which faction to join.

My Courier is lolligagging a loooooong time with the platinum chip in her pack. It's become a little immersion breaking. At this point House should be very concerned that she hasn't made a beeline back to the Lucky 38, no?

Also, talking about factions... the faction that doesn't get near enough flak is the Followers. Between Caesar's Legion and the Khans, the writers kind of hit you over the head with the idea that the Followers' do-gooder idealism has wrought more pain and suffering than any raider band. I guess they get a pass for having good intentions.

I usually pause the main quest when I get to Vegas before meeting House.

I just RP that House is waiting and watching the Courier to see what happens before meeting him/her
BTW EDE killed the first Cazadores I ran into...thank God.

I hate those things.

You mean the "Flowers of the Apock-Lips?" :D

Haven't played this game in ages, but I did beat it once after many random CTD.

While true the Followers have issues, they do get a pass for me because they are the only faction in the wasteland that close to med unit, which is very important in a place like the FOU. Could they ease up on their idealism? Sure, but it's their flaw, and all factions have flaws in FOU. No faction is perfect at all, it all comes down to what the player supports.

See, that's why I like the Great Khans so much. Sure, on the surface, they're not much better than raiders that sell drugs to Fiends, but once you get to know them, you can change things for the better. Or at least that's what I tell myself. I always teach Jack helpful chem recipes, and sleep better at night because of it.

Although I'm not sure why I want to help Fiends...oh yeah! Because they supply the energy weapons I need to repair my stuff. It's a happy cycle. Posted Image

I do admit I am harsh on the Khans because of the fiend connection. If I look at the Khans without that, there are not as bad as teh other factions, but that fiend connection.. I just can't look beyond it :(

My Desert Pirate tries to get along with everyone. Sure the Khans didn't start off on the right foot, what with the burying me and all. But we found common ground when I caught up with them in Boulder. We're great pals now.

The only group I never get along with in Legion. I can never get past the scene in Nipton. Especially when Vulpes Inculta suggests if I have a problem with it, I should do something about it. Excellent suggestion!

Since he never gets to leave Nipton with his head attached, I was kind of surprised recently to find out he was who you were supposed to talk to in Vegas, not Alerio. Whupsie!
