Fallout 3 / Fallout New Vegas and DLC Discussion Thread (SPOILERS)

Even with the Fiends, I think the writers show that there are stages of chaos vs. civilization. If you talk to Motor Runner (by either wearing Great Khan armor or passing a speech check at the door), he says they slaughtered the Vault inhabitants and moved in there because he didn't want his people storming the barricades in Westside, so that gave them a base. How different is that from what House did to Vegas, or what the Legion does to any territory it wants?

The only group I never get along with in Legion. I can never get past the scene in Nipton. Especially when Vulpes Inculta suggests if I have a problem with it, I should do something about it. Excellent suggestion!
Since he never gets to leave Nipton with his head attached, I was kind of surprised recently to find out he was who you were supposed to talk to in Vegas, not Alerio. Whupsie!
It doesn't get better than seeing Vulpes going "oh crap!" when you tell him that you'll wear his head like he is wearing that of the dog.
Well... maybe when the Legion sends assassins after you for killing Vulpes. Kill the first group, wait for the second one, tell them that you won't give up while there are still spines left unshattered and see them flee in pure terror. Glorious.

Ha, that's funny. This was the first game where I killed him in Nipton. And now the Mojave is littered with the corpses of the assassins Caesar keeps throwing at me.
The assassins get annoying after awhile. Skyrim Dragon Annoying. However, they are an excellent steady source of income. Its awfully nice of Caesar to make sure they are equipped with great gear for me to pawn.

I never got those lines. Is that with the Fear perk?
My usual joke is to take all the land mines out of the trapped house nearby and put them on the exact path Vulpes walks after talking with you. And I swing by the reloading bench nearby too, and make a few coin shot rounds with the denari I take off the legion corpses in the house.
Theres a certain poetic justice to kill them using items taken from the homes of the people they slaughtered.

Yup. Terrifying Presence.
I usually just take it to tell Vulpes and Caesar what's going to happen to them.
I think telling Ceasar in his own tent, surrounded by his bodyguards, in the middle of the Fort that you'll paint his tent with his guts and proceed to do exactly that, is pretty bad-ass

The Khans are no worse than the four families were. It's odd you can't enlist them to help build up an independent Vegas. They're no worse than the Omertas, certainly.
I don't think they're irredeemable - I'd have been OK with keeping them around and integrating them into whatever regime takes over New Vegas where I can keep an eye on them (I only ever do the NCR and Independent paths). I'm more concerned about what they'll do if left completely to themselves.

Exactly. We already know they're planning to ally with Caesar. That in itself is rather troubling. The last thing I want to do is enable that, by simply standing by, and allowing it happen. Nope, I'd rather intervene, and gently persuade them elsewhere.FlyingSquirrel wrote...

Khans: Addict Raiders
NCR: Same old low-efficient pre-war typical government
The Legion: Slavers and Rapists
Mr. House: Megalomaniac, doesn't care for anywhere except Vegas
BOS & the Enclave: Weak
Yes Man: Blank paper

Well, technically, the Khans are not addicts themselves. They provide the goods; they don't use them. ;-)

Well, according to Diane, and I think (?) possibly Melissa, they don't use any of it themselves. Really, Jack would be the only one that even remotely seems high. Well, aside from Anders. But that sashay wiggle thing he does might just be from being tied up on a cross.
Jack just seems pretty laid back. And maybe not so very educated.

Jack: "I don't know what you've been smoking, but where can I get some?" Also Jerry did say Jack only passed his test because he was baked to the gills thoguh with Jerry it's hard to know if he's telling the truth because he could be bias.

But, I really do need those parts...see...for these nutjob ghouls...er...but I really don't have enough caps...especially 500, to spend on these nuts who are probably going to die in short order anyway...
...gorgeous.
"Oh, I know I'm not young and pretty anymore, but..."
Takes parts and walks away in shame.

In other news, god how I hate Ghoul Reavers. I'm just lvl 15 and those things start showing up everywhere, nevermind them with their stupid omniscience sniffing you out of everywhere without even looking ... double bad when my relatively low level character is running with silenced weaponry, which is hard to find even in FOOK 2 and not really in the high damage categories until lvl 20 onwards; best I have is a LR-300 Tactical (which mind you eats through Super Mutants, but Reavers are another bunch entirely ...).

Yeah, I whack em in most playthroughs. Dynamite spam for low levels.
What was that Vulpes? "Attack you, and soon I won't feel anything?"
Funny, but I feel great...and thanks for the best loot drops in the game.
Then the irony sets in almost immediately as you free the prisoners from the Legion camp...who happen to be Powder Gangers...and you're their "Grim F-in Reaper." I love this game.

Haven't tried Lady Killer/Black Widow ... like never. Though "Terrifying Presence" has a couple really neat moments (especially on characters who'd think of themselves as tough (looking at you Vulpes!)), though it is a giant ball of shame those moments are few and far in between.

Reavers were the bane of my Lone Wanderer's existence on Very Hard in the Capital Wasteland. They are tough, tough enemies. I'd used frag mines to slow them down (that's about the best I could do) there, but in New Vegas, as soon as you can craft satchel charges, Reavers, and for that matter Deathclaws, are long maimed and crippled by the time they get to you. Of course, I have come to a love affair with the 25mm APW, fully modded with HE rounds. Same effect, but with rapid fire kill scene chaos.
I hate Reavers.

I hear the swampfolk is absurdly tough and the DLC locations is rich with Ghouls (which means LOTS of Reavers by the time I start the DLC in my current playthrough (first Op:An, then Pitt)). This is gonna be interesting.

Point Lookout is awesome. And its tough, especially at level 30.
Don't remind me about those armor ignoring inbreads in the swamp.
I can still remember my "Fistfighting against Behemoth's", power armor wearing Lone Wanderer being killed by the swamp folk with sticks and guns from the civil war.

Now, that's something I have to try. Did take one down with a combat knife once...and it wasn't all that pretty. But I've never done it with my fists. That's definitely a must do.

You should try it! Make Dudley from Street Fighter proud! Lay down your weapons, wear Lincoln's hat and fight those giant mutants like a gentleman!
