I always wondered what kind of empire the Khans would carve out for themselves.

If I remember it correctly you have to tell them to embrace the heritage of the Mongols they modeled themselves after to get them to leave.
I think we all know the usual modus operandi of the Khans/Great Khans before coming to the Mojave and how the Mongols operated. If they went all "Golden Horde" on Wyoming after they got the knowledge from the Followers, that wouldn't be really healthy for anybody who already lived there nor for their new neighbours.

In that case, they definitely need to find themselves horses, or whatever mutant variant passes for that in the Wastes.

The sheer glory of that would be a sight to see...:D

Dear, how I hated those in vanilla FO3. What the hell am I to do with some stupid Squirrel Sticks? You want to poison AND irradiate me you ungrateful bastard?

But then I installed FOOK 2 and instead am getting ammo, stimpacks, chems or Nuka Cola. You know, the kind of stuff I can use, sell for some good caps or in case of Nuka Cola store in my vending machine until I get the Quantum Chemist perk for ENDLESS NUKA NADES!!!!!!!!! :o

Right on. My second favorite thing ever in the Fallout universe.

If you like that, you'll LOVE this!

And if you need a reason to play FO3 again, try out this little baby.

Though I always recommend to use the GECK and turn down the weapon stats a bit, as much as it's fun kill everything in one shot, it's getting boring fast unless you also mod the enemies to be ridiculously dangerous.

That relies on a pretty slanted view of the Mongols. They conquered, but they also had sophisticated organization and contrary to stereotype, played a vital role in developing China, Central Asia and Rus, introducing paper currency and postal and transportation systems for instance. They weren't any more bloodthirsty than any other conquering empire.

Here I'd chime in and would have to warn about what state of information preservation the Followers could provide for thr Great Khans. Whilst it is true the Mongols were undoubtedly a "high civilization", there's no knowing how corrupted the information pool the Fallout'verse has is and thus in anticipation of a great deal of information having been lost over the ages, it's only likely the most prolific parts of information would have wheathered the time by way of information saturation. And the most saturated information about the Mongols is no doubt their conquests.

LOL. I already use CALIBR in FO3 so I can use a modded M-14. But I might have to pick that little baby up.

Then again, I do already have a Barrett .50 and .416 modded in that do massive game breaking damage...but I'm OK with that on the 4th or 5th playthrough.Posted Image

Well we do know that in that scenario the Great Khans develop a flourishing society in Wyoming. I'm not just making that up or speculating it, it's from the end slide.

"During the Battle of Hoover Dam, the Great Khans quickly evacuated Red Rock Canyon and headed north and east into the plains of Wyoming. There, they reconnected with the Followers of the Apocalypse and rebuilt their strength. Bolstered by ancient knowledge of governance, economics, and transportation, they carved a mighty empire out of the ruins of the Northwest."

How enduring that is, is a matter of conjecture, but that's the case for all the factions.

My bad, like I had mentioned, I never finished F:NV before, so I'm not exactly in the loop so to speak. I was just giving a perspective on likelyhood.

I'm aware of that and I won't deny it. We just don't know what's written in "Pretty Pretty Horsies: A History of the Mongol Empire", the book we bring Papa Khan. Is it about the Yassa, their religious tolerance, their support of artisans and their mail system? Or is it focusing on their conquest and stuff like using chemical warfare in the siege of Kafa and the pyramid of heads?

I just wanted to mention that the Great Khans are not really nice people to begin with and the last person that used Follower knowledge of "governance, economics, and transportation" to build an empire was Edward Sallow / Caesar.

If it would be considered canon and they actually build an empire focused on the positive traits of the Mongols, I would love to see it in a future Fallout.

But the tone of the end slide is pretty positive. I'm sure there was some busting heads involved, but if New Wyoming involved a lot of brutality or mass slaughter, it doesn't seem the like the end slide would talk about good governance and economics and a mighty empire being built on that basis. For once the Followers' idealism seems to be bearing decent fruit.

Out of sheer morbid curiosity, has anyone ever attempted to take the Deathclaw Mother on with fists...or even bladed weapons?

EDIT: I don't see how it would even be possible, but again, just curious if there was something I was missing.

I'm not sure if that is even possible to survive. Don't Deathclaws cheat around with the damage threshold, both at the recieving and dishing out ends? That would mean they'd kill even the most tough character in about three-four claw swipes and I don't think it is at all possible to deal enough damage with unarmed or bladed weapons to kill them in an up front fight before they'd kill you.

It might just be possible if you use the unique boxing gloves and continually knock her out, but only if she doesn't have a ridiculously high stamina threshold or is outright immune to that effect.

I know without Toughness, I'm one shotted in a single (max two) swipes. Taking her on requires a distance attack, advantage positioning, and/or mines. She'll break your DT in one shot unperked (I don't have Toughness leveled yet), and you won't crack her DT in a single shot without massive firepower, so yeah, they get the dual advantage.

Like I said, just curious, because there's really no way to completely finish the game as an unarmed fighter. You will have to rely on other options to complete everything in the game, unless, I'm missing something. She's so overwhelming, I just wouldn't even consider it viable. I see no option but to bring out firepower. I've never put a lot of effort into unarmed, using it as a pastime more than anything, so I don't know all the ins and outs of unarmed, or even melee, builds; and was really wondering if there was some secret in there that makes those builds more viable than I believe them to be.

I sure hope so. I like he Followers and find it pretty sad how they get screwed over in most endings. Would be nice to see them succeed with the Khans!

The only good ending for them is if you get the NCR to ally with them:

After the NCR's victory at the dam, in part thanks to Follower's medical support, NCR allowed the Followers to care for refugees as they see fit. Old Mormon Fort expanded its services and was able to aid more people, becoming a refuge for the less fortunate citizens of New Vegas.Icon sound trigger:

Complete Eureka! for the NCR and convince the Followers of the Apocalypse to support the NCR after completing You'll Know It When It Happens.

It is bugged, but if you can get that to work than its a happy ending.

Question about the Come Fly With Me Quest.

The animation with the rocket doors opening and watching the rockets take off did not happen for me. Is this a harmless bug? Or is that the game telling me something went wrong with the rockets? I ask because I talked to the Chris guy and he seemed pretty pissed off that he was used and wasn't going ... so I'm wondering if that triggered him to do an act of sabotage or something.

The quest was marked as complete and the folks in Novac like me. But I'm not sure if its complete because Jason went where he wanted to go and there are no more ghouls roaming around or if the quest is complete because Jason's rockets crashed and there are no more ghouls roaming around. Is there any way to tell if the quest was completed in Jason's favor during the game?
